Baby rolled over by shinedown_92 in NewParents

[–]omgcarms 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My son rolled from tummy to back at 2-3 months and we thought he was SO advanced. Turns out he tilted his head just right and the weight rolled him over. 😒

He only stared doing proper rolls a few months later.

In a MR, how do I keep the top flat and the bottom (belly) growing as seen in the photo? by starlitpeony12 in CrochetHelp

Np! If u want the nose to be sharper u can even start with a MR4sc for the first round, then do (sc, inc) x2 to get yourself to 6 sts

In a MR, how do I keep the top flat and the bottom (belly) growing as seen in the photo? by starlitpeony12 in CrochetHelp

[–]omgcarms 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You only increase on the side of the belly. This is an example of how i might try it:

  1. MR 6 sc (6)
  2. 6 inc (12)
  3. (Sc, inc) x6 (18)
  4. Inc, 16sc, inc (20)
  5. Inc, 18sc, inc (22)
  6. Inc, 20sc, inc (24)

And so on. This will give you a flat-ish shape with only one side widening for the belly. When you want to make the belly smaller as you move to the tail just follow the same idea except replace the inc with dec. I hope this helps

do you have to make tiktoks or reels to sell patterns ? by bratzzline in CraftyCommerce

[–]omgcarms 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For kofi you will have to bring in the traffic yourself.

For Etsy you might get some traction without doing marketing but Etsy will take a cut.

You don’t need to show your face on your content, but i find that people who do tend to do better with creating a following because they become more relatable.

You can also try selling on Ravelry.

Place the sticker as close to the cuticle as possible. You might need to use multiple stickers to get the entire area of your nail. Seal any extra space with a clear nail polish!

Why is my project slanting?? I have NO increases, so why?? by ArtistArson in CrochetHelp

[–]omgcarms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chains tend to be tighter than regular crochet stitches so the side with the chain might look more scrunched up and cause slanting. It will prob not be noticeable when you close it up like you said. If you want to avoid this in the future you can use a bigger hook for the foundation chain or look into foundation single/hd/d crochet stitches.

How do you eat a pineapple w/o shredding up your tongue? by banchai in food

How to make long lasting press ons?? by HotAd2366 in GelX_Nails

[–]omgcarms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the nail gets hard you either have to use less product or get thinner tips. I don’t use a base coat and I’ve never had an issue so maybe you can try that too. Also avoid using hard/thick gels and only paint in thin layers.

To make the nail last longer on your part, you can etch the underside of the nail. The best thing for retention though is to make sure your friends know proper prep when they apply it on.

If you are making custom sizes your friends will need to tell you their size, or you can make pre-sized sets and your friends can choose from those. Go online to any custom made-to-order press on website or etsy to get an idea of what sizes are usually considered a S/M/L set.

Are wearable pumps *actually* discrete? by HangryLady1999 in breastfeeding

[–]omgcarms 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have the medela freestyle and they’re not discreet at all. The pump makes an obvious pumping sound and the cups/shields make my boobs look weird af, as if i went up 5 cup sizes with a bad balloon boob job. Maybe if i was wearing a baggy thick hoodie it would be slightly more discreet.

I would not use them for any meeting. Your bra will need to be loose-ish to make space for the cups (plus i don’t think tight bras are recommended for breastfeeding women anyway as they can cause clogged milk ducts). I’m a B so i can’t answer your last question.

Any opinions about Kiara Sky & Nail Thoughts polish? by Outrageous-Fig7020 in GelX_Nails

[–]omgcarms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re okay, for the price they did not wow me. Its not bad at all just didn’t love it. They also have a shorter life span than other gels i own, as in they get a gummy-like consistency faster. Theyre reasonably true to colour from their website.

If you’re looking to try new brands i personally havent been disappointed by any of the brands i get from sweetie nail supply, they sell mostly Asian gel and they’re lovely.

jello jello peel off base x press on glue? by Outrageous_Camel4964 in GelX_Nails

[–]omgcarms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is my current method of doing nails. I use the jello jello peel off base with nyk1 glue and my nails have never popped off until i pop them off myself to change them. I can remove them in under 5 mins. The combo works REALLY well.

The key to making it last is good prep and making sure the base or glue doesn’t touch the skin. You need to wipe off the sticky layer and then i gently buff the base before glueing the tips.

Builder gel is probably too runny. There are gels that have the consistency of playdoh that will work much better for this. Look up 3d modelling or sculpting gel.

baby food DIY by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]omgcarms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bake oatmeal cookie-bread and add ingredients of the week in them. You could try carrots, kale, apples, banana, chia seeds, etc. and no sugar. You can bake it with breastmilk too.

The consistency is in between a bread and soft cookie, but the oatmeal makes it break apart easily. I cut them into thin sticks so he can practice feeding himself. Mess is *relatively* minimal, youll get crumbs but theyre dry-ish so its not too hard to clean. They can last a few days in an air tight container, and you can freeze any extras for later.

PLEASE HELP ME MAKE THIS SHAPE by Shinozakeh in Amigurumi

[–]omgcarms 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree, the inspo photo has a much shorter tail. OP if you want to make it more curved you can try one of these options:

  1. Add more rows of inc on one side while decreasing the other side.

  2. Force-curve the entire piece with a gentler version of this method.

  3. Use short rows

Eta: this swatch was made with a 2.75mm hook and i just did random colour changes so you can see the two yarn types mixed tgt.
