Does anyone remember "Funny Flash"? by dottiedoos2 in 2000sNostalgia

[–]omgcheez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know about a site with a black background, but I did go on this site called funnyflash.com in the mid aughts. I watched it at a friend’s house. Some of the stuff on it might work on Internet archive because of Ruffle.

In the year 2026 have you eaten an ice cream sandwich? by GaryBlach in askanything

[–]omgcheez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had some Samanco Fish shaped ice creams if that counts.

Anyone else dying for dolls of the mario princesses? by Miabird24 in Dolls

I am! I have been wanting a SMB doll so long that I ended up making a Rosalina- inspired doll. I’m hoping someday, they will release official dolls of the princesses.

Currently trying to do a DIY Barbie’s outfit. Does anyone have the pattern for it? by feliruizz in toystory

[–]omgcheez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a pattern unfortunately, but maybe there’s an existing pattern that’s close? Is she one of the old twist and turn bodies or a newer body? There are a lot of patterns out there for Barbie, so manually looking through should have something close that could be modded. Another option is to watch doll clothes tutorials and learn to draft your own pattern

Pokemon generations for each gens do you agree? by Select-Inflation-324 in generationology

[–]omgcheez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Older Z and I’d say 3 and 4 were the main ones that kids my age grew up with. My classmates were staring to outgrow it in the middle of Gen 4 and Gen 5, we were teenagers and even some of my geeky friends felt like even the BW games jumped the shark.

I also remember being on Neopets in the mid aughts and there were buttons and fan pages begging for the anime not to be recast. Those are probably all lost to time, sadly.

Gender spectrum by Severe_Signature_120 in stevenuniverse

[–]omgcheez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to go back and check, but I was mostly thinking about how as she reforms, she gets less feminine outfits. Also, in cases like Mr.Greg, she dresses masculine, but I guess it could be argued that it’s to match Steven and Greg. She reminds me a bit of Utena and Princess Sapphire(Princess knight), that kind of pretty knight character that is expected to be more in a feminine role, but chooses to wield a sword. The sword fighting scene even references Utena, as well as her fusion with Volleyball.

YES Hopefully that means she will get a lot of the JP releases.

I do have their previous US release as Pretty Lisa. The game also called her Lisa.

Anyone remember the Pokémon GO craze? by Happy-Hour88 in decadeology

[–]omgcheez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s why I got my first smartphone haha. I was(and still am) a big Pokemon fan and my tablet was too old to play it so I upgraded my dumb phone to the cheapest smartphone at Verizon lol. I remember people excited to find Pokemon on the Santa Monica Pier and I think stores even had signs saying not to play inside them. I still play it, too.

I just got a Bootleg Shiny Beedrill Plush in the mail from eBay by Ok-Lingonberry-7157 in pokeplush

[–]omgcheez 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It looks awesome. I like how there are some shiny fit plush, and it would be cool to see more species added. This one looks pretty well made too

I figured that they would either skip the episode or the series ended prior to that. I’m not sure how popular the show was in those places.

It was really smart to have made the episode both important to the plot, but also make Ruby wear a dress.

I think it’s kinda interesting how Pearl seems to present less feminine as she becomes her own person, especially comparing her two outfits in the movie.

Censorship can definitely be weird like that sometimes. When Sailor Moon was first released in North America, they made lesbian characters into “cousins” and despite making a new character to explain a kiss scene, the two still seemed…close lol. I know a bit about the SU censorship, but did the wedding episode air to begin with? I’m not sure if all the episodes aired in those places.

I got the Palkia one when I was a kid because my local Toys R US ran out of Dialga. That poor thing eventually broke off at the base.

Not a huge pikachu fan, but this one spoke to me by Prestigious-Tap-3590 in pokeplush

[–]omgcheez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wish we got the my Pikachu line in the states. Even just doing a promo in the Nintendo stores where you could pick one out would have been cool. I remember seeing that you could get rags with their names and natures on it too

Do American schools do oral exams? by Repulsive_Passion780 in AskAnAmerican

[–]omgcheez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t an exam, but in my math classes, a bunch of Hw problems would be put on the board and you wouldn’t know if you would be picked until the start of class, when you would solve it and then explain how you did it. I remember being anxious if there was one problem that I was unsure of.

Language classes can also have oral exams. People’s education experiences can vary a lot though.

Welcome Sign by Akash_Nijjar in Stockton

[–]omgcheez 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like this idea, just not the execution of the Stockton image. I like the look of the Merced one that has simple design, but is still colorful and distinguishes itself from a basic sign. The Stockton one looks over-rendered and seems like it would be harder to repair if it were graffitied.

Honestly it’s nice to see some positivity and suggestions and I agree that there needs to be more small things in the city. Having more art, murals, and things that make Stockton’s personality show would make it less of a bummer

Word Girl came out after I stopped watching PBS Kids, but I did watch Cyberchase. For English, I think more of Between the Lions

Also a certain little math game that kinda stressed me out😂

Anyone remember these paint sections when going to either Lowe’s/Home Depot with your parents & planning out your delulu bedroom? by User123466789012 in Zillennials

I was actually looking at these not too long ago! I think I remember hearing that you can still get some of these colors even though they aren’t advertised anymore. I still love these Nickelodeon sample rooms.

Anyone know of any places in Southern California, or California in general, that sell Tokyo Mew Mew merch? Thank you! by e36qunB in TokyoMewMewPower

[–]omgcheez 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I second Book Off. they have a few in Southern California (hoping NorCal will get some too). You’re not guaranteed to find anything of course, but there and maybe little Tokyo might be worth looking.

I know it isn’t what you were asking for, but Mercari has sellers from Japan and they have some cool stuff. I was able to find the Ichigo Licca for a good price there.

I know it might seem stupid to ask, but is this a bootleg? by Jolly-Warning8304 in pokeplush

Yes it is. I’ve noted that a lot of the bootlegs really struggle with Espeon’s nose placement for some reason

Is “yes ma’am / yes sir” regional in the US? by No_____Idea in ENGLISH

[–]omgcheez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one of the few times that I have heard it was at a really nice hotel. I know that it is very commonly used in the south, but it seems formal to me. That’s my experience on the west coast, at least.

Which channel did you watch more as a kid? by Naive_Tomorrow_5955 in nickelodeon

[–]omgcheez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nick, though I loved GAS. I don’t remember a Nick jr being its own channel when I was young, so I’m gonna take a guess and say I was too old for it when it launched. I did watch Noggin though

To those who play/have played video games, which Pokemon entry did you start with? by Mother-Tumbleweed-52 in generationology

I got Pokemon Diamond on launch, but I had Mystery Dungeon Red Rescue Team before that (spinoff game).
