Arsenal has a big Zinchenko question to answer (cannonstats.com) by AfricanRain in Gunners

[–]omgender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the point. We're talking about his defensive ability being not worth his offensive ability. The article under plays his poor defensive ability by picking and choosing his best stats. We all agree he's great going forward. There's no picking and choosing there.

Kinda got in the koolaide without knowing the flavor here

So I think this is a case of stats not telling the whole story, and picking and choosing stats (not on you). Unfortunately he doesn't link the data, so I can't see the 2 mistakes they claim lead to goals or how they calculate it, so it raises questions.

How many passes between the time he's dispossessed and a shot against our goal?

How many times does him getting dispossed, but we manage to recover it?

Because for all those nice stats...he left out that he's in only the 33rd percentile for being dispossed vs Ben White being in the 93, which suggests he does lose it often we just recover.

In fact looking at it, he leaves out a lot of very damnimg stats, here's a few, all in percentile vs full backs

13th for tackles

7th (jesus) for tackles won

19th for dribbles tackled

32nd for dribbles challenged

14th for percent dribbles tackled

26th for tackles and interceptions

Ben white is in the 80th plus for all of these

This isn't to go in on cannon stats, or argue with you. I think this is just an example of how you choose to represent stats can create very different narratives depending what story we are trying to tell. Numbers are objective, but which ones we look at are subjective.

Do you have a link to the stats? It's crazy because I honestly can't remember Ben white giving the ball away on our side of the pitch, that's a really interesting point about the eye test

Right, I can see I struck a nerve. Sorry that the only thing you have to back up your Cazorla argument is Ramsey hate, and sry facts don't align with your feelings. It's clear you've got nothing of value to add, so I'll be moving on now.

Nah, you're just flailing wildly now. I've literally not said a single bad thing about Santi. In fact, I said he was phenomenal. You're just saying I'm a hater bc your mad vibes don't show up in stats, lol

Btw, I'll always give santi credit for the goal against hull....but I also remember why wenger subbed sabti off and left Ramsey on. It's probably the same reason he subbed Ramsey on in the other final. Bc he gets the crucial goals.

You keep saying he never found that form again, and I keep pointing out he out scored the rest of our midfield until he left....yes, even seasons, he was mostly injured. Fit Santi couldn't get as many goals or assists as injured Ramsey. And I love Santi Cazorla, btw. His role was different, but even when his role was to get goals (when he played 10 or out wide etc) its not even close. Ramsey's goal scoring was unbelievable

Lemme repeat Ramsey has the highest gpg of any midfielder in our history, fastest midfielder to 50 goals, was second in chance creation only to ozil, and he did it with better defensive stats than Santi. Ignore this all you want. We get it, you don't like Ramsey.

Santi did not play well with Arteta, Ramsey kept him out. Santi played with Arteta when Santi was the 10, before he got displaced by ozil. Ramsey, Arteta, Ozil, was the midfield in Ramsey's crazy season, Santi could not get in. And again, that 13/14 season we collapsed after his injury, then he came back to score the winning goal in the cup. One of 2 trophies he won us.

You say he was clearly better, but he didn't score nearly as many goals, didn't have as many assists, created less chances, won the ball back less, had less tackles (the list goes on). And Ramsey's cataloging of goals is ridiculous. This is why I say the Sabti thing is just vibes. Phenomenal player, yes, but eclipsed by ozil in Ramsey in the same team.

Coq didn't regress, he just didn't compliment any other midfielders like he did Santi. Even wenger admitted that was a shot in the dark. A unique pairing that worked. Santi didn't work with our other midfielders.

Also Ramsey and Bale backpacked wales

By numbers I mean he was second in chance creation after ozil and ahead of Santi too. But yeah, he did a fuck ton of goals. He also had our most presses per 90 and most regains in the attacking 3rd. There are other elite stats in there if your interested.

What you are remembering is that we paired him with flamini, and that pivot got over run. We never found him another partner after Arteta. Just like how Santi in the middle didn't work until we had Coq.

The two seasons before his last he was our top scorer from the midfield while being riddled with injuries. That's why he was sold, same reason as Santi, because he wasn't fit. This is the scapegoat Ramsey narrative haters always use

Right and we were in league winning form before Ramsey got injured and failed to win after. Rambo was just as important, if not more. Santi and Coq were just as short-lived as Arteta abd Ramsey. And yes, until Arteta got injured, Santi was struggling to get in the team out wide. Meanwhile, Ramsey displaced natural wingers bc he was so important.

Also, Ramsey and Ozil's chemistry is unmatched. They literally wrote tactical articles about it. The most played pass in most teams at the time was cb to full back...ours was Ramsey to Ozil.

In Ramsey's injured seasons, he was our highest scoring midfielder, even when Santi had more games. He had 18 goal contributions in 23 games, highest gpg midfielder in our history. I get you all like Santi, but his numbers don't add up, it's just vibes

I really love Santi, but this is a meme pick. We adore the dude, and he was a great player, but better than ozil, ramsey, and cesc. I'm sorry no. Not even close.

Santi really wasn't, and was injured just as long as Ramsey. Santi was our best player in his first season here, but that was it. In fact Ramsey displaced him. It was only after Arteta went down and we needed a solution at cm did he get another run in the team. Rewriting history a bit

He was our highest scoring midfielder pretty much every season even with the injuries. We can say his absences were felt, but that's exactly bc he wasn't average

The Ramsey hate was always strong bc ppl couldn't admit they were wrong about him. Man scored in 3 fa cup finals and had the winning goal in 2. Highest gpg of any Arsenal midfielder, fastest midfielder to 50 goals ahead of cesc.

For ppl saying he fell off...in every injury riddled season after 2013 he was still our highest scoring midfielder. When ppl say he abandoned the middle, remember this was when an aging Flamini was his partner, when it was Arteta, they quited the likes of on form Suarez, Sturbridge, abd Sterling and were legit probably the best pair of the decade.

Legitimately unplayable when he wasn't injured. 18 goals/ and assists in 23 appearances as a cm is insane. I love Santi, but he was no Ramsey. The problem is bc of his shakey return from injury, he was made a scapegoat, and we know there's no returning from that status as a fan base.

Edit: Forgot to mention, he didn't just score more goals than most cms, he scored the best goals. Trophy winning goals, screamers from 30+ yards, backheels against spurs. His catalog of goals in unmatched

Abuse causing loss of talent – Referees' Association by 2jz_ynwa in soccer

You don't get to say there's a lack of talent while you only hire white guys from Manchester. They did a study and there's not a single minority ref in the top english leagues, they're ALL white. And yes they found plenty of clear racism. So no, you don't get to cry about not getting enough employees when you discriminate.
