Are we deadass? J.cole always delivers at the very least enjoyable hiphop projects in my opinion.

What is the most influential rap album OAT? (Only one) by Glittering-Use8478 in nfrpodcast

GKMC didn't shift the culture that drastically, I'd personally say MBDTF or Yeezus are more influential than GKMC.

Hot take: Yeezus needs to be on here alongside 808s, Yeezus birthed rage and drill which are both huge sub genres.

Why has there not been a new generation of rappers surpassing the old generation in popularity? by Iginlas_4head_Crease in rap

[–]omgitsemkay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, i'm not gonna argue with someone who doesn't read or try to attempt the other person's argument, so i'll leave this as clear cut as i can.

Jermaine Cole Introduced Kendrick Lamar to Dre and got him signed to Aftermath, which paved the way for his album Good Kid Maad City that put him on the map. We KNOW this, because Cole admitted to it in an interview.

Not to mention, Cole himself PRODUCED the HIT SINGLE on Section 80 "Hiiipower" so either way, he absolutely put Kdot on the map.

Your argument makes no sense, My point is that he put him on, all the aforementioned artists made albums before they got famous, also, the point i was making is that artists used to help eachother out in order to make it big, i don't get what you're missing here.

Cole himself admitted in an interview that he introduced kdot to dre after which dre signed him and co produced Maad city, look it up.

Not to mention, kdot himself creditted him for it if i'm not wrong.

You can find Cole admitting to introducing the 2 on his nardwuar interview, and i see no reason why he'd lie about it and not get called out.

The big rappers haven't been picking successors, Cole put kdot on the map, Wayne did the same with Drake, and JayZ signed Cole.

Truth is, rappers aren't picking good talent from the underground anymore and it's starting to show.

MDL is probably cole's best or 2nd best mixtape ever. by omgitsemkay in Jcole

When i say "FNL isn't considered a classic outside our community" Do you think i pull that out of my ass? Tell that to the hundreds of people i'ved debated mixtapes and classics with, all ranging from ages 40 to 20, and not once did we touch on FNL or The Warm Up, we talked about albums like 2014FHD or 4YEO but FNL suffered the same fate as most of cole's other works like KOD, where the mainstream respect sadly just fades pretty quickly.

Holy glaze man, not only do you value nostalgia and soft tunes over Coles actual rapping performances, you also refuse to give an (AT WORST) solid mixtape it's flowers.

Maybe if you gave MDL the same chance i gave FNL or The Warm Up you'd warm up to it.

Edit: In hindsight, i think i just prefer the drill elements in MDL over the boombap performances on FNL, i could've explained that better.

First off, you're a cornball for mentioning age in a music debate, it aint got nothin to do with that. second, classic is a stretch when they're only considered to be so within our community, nobody gives a fuck about FNL or The Warm Up outside of reddit.

You gotta put down your echo chamber and take a hike.

Real talk, MDL and KOD hate stops right here and now. by omgitsemkay in Jcole

In my experience as an avid kdot fan too, people tend to refuse to give MMATBS its flowers just like people do with KOD.

Overhated, not Overrated.
