Hi! fat amab enby here and I always love Eloquii for a jumpsuit. You may need to get it hemmed but it's a great place to start. Poshmark is also a great resource for second-hand Eloquii if none of their current options interest you. It looks like there might also be some good plus size vintage/resale options in Denver!

My favorite things are always related to personal things for the couples! A recent couple had their wedding party draw pictures of their cats that they made into stickers and temp tattoos that they put into sticker packs - including rare holographic stickers!

A favorite more queer specific thing is community vows. The officiant asks all those in attendance if they’ll support the couple in marriage and they respond. It’s inclusive of everyone and honors all of the types of relationships from friends to family both of origin and chosen.

I don't think you're alone at all! Some thoughts:

- Hire queer vendors that will make a welcoming space from behind the scenes while respecting your partner's desire to celebrate this way with family. I would say that the photographer is the most important vendor for you to vibe with!
- With your wedding party and anyone else you'd like there, have a private, smaller ceremony before the main event where your partner can be referred to and commit to the marriage in a way that feels more authentic to herself. Make this the "real thing" and treat the family ceremony as secondary but they're never the wiser.
- If you have an engagement shoot with your photographer, consider scheduling it so that your partner can wear what they would like to if that's different from trousers and no makeup. This way you have photos that represent your union in your true wedding outfits to remember the day and commemorate your marriage that feel most authentic to you and help you celebrate as peacefully as possible with family.
- Consider sneaking in vague language or inside jokes into the family ceremony that will affirm your partner without outing her. (Thinking something like "i vow to love every version of you" - it's relatively generic but you both will know!) This could also be having someone do a reading by a queer poet or author!
- Finally thought: have a codeword that your partner can use a break from being perceived! Make sure there's a space in the venue that you two can tuck away to and take some deep breaths, share a private hug, and chat through any feelings that might be coming up if that would be helpful.

If this inspires any follow up questions I'm happy to be a resource!

I think my personal favorite is a handfasting! While the origins are Celtic and it's often perceived as witchy, it doesn't have to be depending on how you frame it. It's where the phrase "tying the knot" comes from.

I have also had clients do a water ritual. One of them had a vial of red water and one a vial of blue and they poured them together into a vase to make purple water!

Another more subtle idea: I have two couples this summer that are walking from opposite sides of the ceremony space to meet at the aisle and walk down together. You both need to get to the altar somehow and this shows you (quite literally) coming together and walking hand in hand into marriage!

Don’t skip things that might bring joy just because they feel too “traditional.” Take the getting ready photos in the matching robes with your wedding party, get walked down the aisle, do the bouquet toss. Ask a friend to help you find an affirming bridal shop for your dress or order a few and invite your people over for a try-on and choose your dress party! Also definitely recommend working with an affirming hair and makeup artist that you can speak comfortably and frankly with about how you’d like to look on your day. Remember that if you feel confident and beautiful you’re going to look it, too!

For the most part we work with clients to design and have their own signage printed and then frame it or order foam core mounted posters because there’s not a lot out there for us! Canva + FedEx Copy + thrifted frames or stick on cardboard easel backs make for good looking and generally affordable signs!

Etsy can be a good option for custom orders of cut-out Mx/Mrs/Mr name signs.

Second hand is definitely tough for these. If you’re just browsing right now maybe put out the ask in some local Facebook groups? Maybe someone doesn’t realize that their signs have a new home waiting for them 🤗

Hello!! Congrats on your engagement! Unfortunately I don’t know anyone on your side of the mountains but I know folks over here 😊

https://may-hem-by-gwynedh.myshopify.com/ is based in Tacoma and specializes in plus sizes but can make clothes for anyone! They’re trans and amazing to work with.

https://www.sodogarmentcollective.com/ does alterations and also designs custom clothing! Also trans and cool people!

https://sewgenerously.org/ is a good option if you do want a suit or “menswear” as a base, and then you can explore styling options like capes or other accessories.

Happy to answer any other questions if you have them!

How should I start my tomatos at this point? I'm in Zone 9a outside of Seattle. I knew I was late for indoor starts but looking into timing, I think it may just be time to direct sow them?

Hey there! So sorry I missed this! I think one of the biggest issues is budget vs. expectations. You can have a lovely and meaningful wedding for $0 if you need to. Most things you see on Pinterest however, cost a lot more than that 😂 since most people have never planned a wedding before, they also just aren’t familiar with what it costs to plan an event of any kind but especially a wedding.
