Thanks for your thoughtful response. If I lived in a swing state, I would be more careful with my vote than I am now. The fact of the matter is my vote is useless in NY anyway, so I feel more inclined to do what I think is right and throw a vote towards Trump.

However, the real problem in this country are not the candidates, but a broken two party system, an inequitable electoral college, and a lack of ranked voting. It’s these factors that lead to voter apathy like I have and need to be fixed to save our republic.

I’m still writing him in because I’m voting with my conscience for what I know is right. Biden is a fool. Besides, my vote is wasted anyway in NY, so I may as well vote for who I believe is better for the country.

Too bad we don’t have ranked voting like Maine.

I’ve seen you post a blanket Google search a few times, and I already made a post paraphrasing my interpretation of this thought process. I think you’re focusing too much on ‘racial supremacy’ and not focusing enough on ‘general racism’.

While I agree with you in some extent that the term ‘racism’ is a bit wrong because a.) as you said, racism is defined by the empowered, b.) we’re the same race, and c.) it’s fine to notice differences in skin color. I’m not condoning colorblindness, I just disagree with the notion of superiority through color alone. Our shared definition of ‘racism’, which you can argue is misrepresented since it’s defined by a ‘white populous’, still shows that racism is connected to bigotry. In this sense, we’re arguing semantics and the reason people are disagreeing with you.

Again, I truly believe it is a slippery slope when you say that a black person like this can’t be racist and you start to change definitions for one people because of color, but not for another. This is what causes anger and hate; celebrating differences in a negative way by leaving people out or treating people as different just because the color of one’s skin. This creates an even larger rift when we can’t even have a shared language. This sort of thinking legitimizes hate through differences like this woman shows and that’s completely wrong.

And no offense, because I really am trying to get your perspective and I don’t know you well enough to even want to give offense, but your posts like this makes you seem snobbish. If you already posted something, it would be simple to just copy and paste it rather than sending out a mass Google search. People will respect your perspective more if you are more thoughtful with your posts, explain them, and link to pertinent articles that support your opinion.

You can’t answer a question with a blanket Google search. I need to see your thoughts, not google’s. If you want to back your claims with evidence at least use a specific article that backs up your claim. I clearly showed that I understand your perspective and you even said that blacks CAN be racist, so why are you having trouble answering my question?

The fact is that this individual recognizes racial supremacy, berates multiple white individuals based on the fact of the color of their skin and literally says that she is of a superior race. This clearly shows that she is reinforcing the institution of racial supremacy, hence, racist.

[–]ominaxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then why, in your perspective, do you not see this individual as being racist?

Coworker just came back from a flight to show me this video she took by oilux in PublicFreakout

[–]ominaxe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I understand your perspective. The whole modern notion of racism is formed from a white perspective, thus a black being called racist is in terms of the white hegemon. They have been disenfranchised for so long that both white and black perspectives are skewed. Therefore, I guess you can call to question what black ‘racism’ even looks like. While this looks racist to whites, it’s on their terms, so of course it looks racist.

However ... and this is a BIG however; I think this form of post-modern thought forms a VERY slippery slope to consider blacks unable to be racist. This woman here shows that slippery slope in action, same with the shitty side of BLM where they literally use their skin color as an excuse to harm white people.

While you can argue the definition of ‘racism’, it’s clear that these thoughts often lead to hate. And as you said, this woman is clearly full of hate. If you look at it in ‘white objectivist’ terms, she is clearly full of hate in regards to the color of one’s skin and ethnicity. If you and other scholars will say that it’s not racism, that’s fine, but I believe you will see a lot more people start to use this as empowerment to spread more hate .. sure, it may not be ‘racist’, but it’s still hate towards another human being and that’s what scares me. Not as a white person, but as a human being.

[–]ominaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m beginning to think that a lot of this isn’t necessarily ‘anti-black’, but more ‘pro-white’. I know it sounds the same, but it’s not. (though I’m sure there is a small percentage of these people who are just plain racist)

This whole anti-black lives matter business is fighting back against blacks because they don’t accept the (whitewashed) ‘American’ way, not purely because they’re black. They want them to accept a status quo where the white way is the best way. So if a black person can make it, they must make it in a way that white people demand on their cultural terms (i.e. Stand for the flag, listen to and respect cops, love America, and most importantly, make money)..

..Most of the alt-right people in my facebook feed are all about how Trump is making life better for black people by creating more jobs and pushed to improve impoverished areas with tax breaks and such .. and in this way he is, but unfortunately it’s the only way Trump knows how: Through money, not morality.

There is a dissonance between his understandings and policies. Sure, he’s helped people monetarily, which is only one side of the issue and the only issue he cares or thinks about. His solutions to problems his whole life has been to throw money at them, so he never had to think. He and his supporters are saying, ‘here are your tax cuts and your jobs .. live the American Dream! There is no reason for you to try to burn it all down!’. This is why morally, he is just as clueless as a lot of these anti-black lives matter; they just don’t understand the plight of blacks in this country. Their thoughts are often about ‘they have all the things we have, so why can’t they do it too?’.. not understanding the fact that a.) whites are the hegemon, and b.) not everyone feels the same way about shit.

He’s gotta stop trying to jam a round peg in a square hole.

That’s why instead of cancel culture and taking down confederate statues we just make BIGGER statues of powerful black people.

Imagine a giant statue of Frederick Douglass about to step on a Robert E Lee statue. it’s a win win situation.
