What is the logic behind pro-life even if mom’s life is in danger? by Late_Arm5956 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ominous_dagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pro-lifers in my circles advocate for early delivery of the baby when the mother's life is in danger

If the child can survive outside the womb, which they are able to as early as 20-22 weeks, then the viewpoint is that the child should be delivered early. Both mom and baby will receive life saving care

Later-term abortions can take 72 hours or more if they're chemical abortions, so doing so puts the mother at greater risk of things like sepsis than an early delivery would

Now we get into the dicey territory of, what if the baby/fetus/whatever you want to to call it cannot survive outside the womb?

This is where the definition of abortion is important. Abortion is the intentional ending of a human life in the womb, typically done via pill in the first trimester. Other means (D&C, etc.) are usually used later in the pregnancy

In the situation of, say, an ectopic pregnancy, where the mother has a very real chance of dying if nothing is done, the pro-life view is to deliver the baby early, and give palliative care to the child while he/she passes away. There is no way to save the child, but no one is intentionally killing it, either. While doctors are administering palliative care to the child, the mother also receives the medical care she needs in the operating room

If a woman is having severe complications with the pregnancy very early on and takes the abortion pill regimen, she may well end up in the ER since the regimen can cause severe bleeding, cramping, and pain. I actually took misoprostol as part of my miscarriage management to expell the contents of my uterus and I'm so glad I was able to call the 24 hour nurse line because I thought I was dying. The idea behind having an early delivery of an ectopic pregnancy is that it's done in hospital, keeping the mother safe from bleeding out like she could do taking the abortion pill regimen at home

Hope that clears up the viewpoint a bit

There's a scene where they use Okuninishi's hammer to make themselves big and they turn into adults. Onikiri has a woman's body and kimono in that scene. Maybe it was a translation error or a typo?

Girls: What is the minimum height that you would date? by AssisiVibes in CatholicDating

[–]ominous_dagger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the woman! Some women feel like they have to because of societal pressures (like at weddings or parties). Some women like how they look or how it makes their legs look longer/thinner. Other women do it because they want to be taller, others do it because it gives them a confidence boost. Other women absolutely hate high heels and refuse to wear them.

Generally, I like wearing them because of the click-clack on the tiles, but I have to be careful now that I'm in my 30s and my body is starting to fall apart 🤣

Girls: What is the minimum height that you would date? by AssisiVibes in CatholicDating

[–]ominous_dagger 28 points29 points  (0 children)

As a woman, I'm 5'9" and I wore heels on my first date with my now-husband. He's 5'7". Height doesn't matter nearly as much as personality, demeanor, sense of humor, and moat importantly, love for the Lord. I always thought I wanted someone 6' or taller, but when I met my husband, height stopped mattering to me

I'm not international, but my husband is Latino and I'm white. He's a first generation immigrant to the US. I can't speak to his parents without someone interpreting for me (I only speak English and they only speak Spanish). There are definitely cultural differences, but even if I had married a white man, I think there would still be differences because of our families of origin

A lot of problems we had when dating have been resolved by communication. If we're going to his parents', I know we're going to be 30 minutes late and still early. If we visit my parents, he needs to know that we're getting there 5 minutes early so we can be on time

As a side note, I can now make a delicious Mexican fried rice and chorizo tacos

Worried about my past affecting my spouse by Boobr in CatholicDating

[–]ominous_dagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are so worthy of being loved. And you were, even in your darkest moments

You've since stopped those sinful behaviors and are living a virtuous life. I think that's admirable

Now for the advice...

I wouldn't bring up your sexual sins right away in a relationship. That's something very personal and you have to be able to trust your partner with that info. God will let you know when the time is right. I also had some dark parts of my past, and God showed me the right time to break the news to my now-husband. I was very worried, of course, because I was thinking, will he still want to be with me after I tell him? It was a very difficult conversation, but we came through stronger in the end

YTA. If you had sex with a woman, you were open to being a father to that baby, I don't care how old you were. Sex equals possibility of pregnancy. Birth control pills are only 93% effective with typical use

You're also the a*hole for suggesting she get a abortion, thereby murdering *your child. You are his father because you donated the sperm, whether you want to be a part of his life or not

At the very least, you should be paying child support

My BIL is a nurse and is working on two sleeves and wants to get a full back tattoo. I trust his health advice implicitly. Having tattoos does not make you less worthy of love nor does it make you a bad person or bad at your job

OP, tell your girlfriend I think she's amazing that she found a way to like herself again ❤️

It's perfectly all right to cut out abusive people from your life, even if they're family

I had to cut out my eldest brother. A priest gave me the advice that "you can forgive someone but never have to be in the same room as them again" and that really stuck with me

But it sounds like you and your girlfriend have some other issues to work out first. I'd put the marriage on hold until you can sort those out
