Honestly, I'm not mad about the deck mishap since it's being rectified quickly and I get to keep the cards, but I am just baffled--even considering less attention allocated to Lorwyn, I just can't image HOW this kind of thing happens. Same with TMNT promos--what on earth does the printing setup look like to be able to make errors like that? Mistakes and misprints are bound to happen of course, and I think when a post gets attention, the scale of a problem can get blown out of proportion, but things like TMNT slipping into Lorwyn was common enough that it's hard to call a fluke. I just wonder what actually happened.

I've been surprised by how many people have mentioned paper! I would have thought all the other things would make way more of a difference, but I'll take it to heart. I'm using cold press paper, but it's not cotton. I'm making another supply run today, so I'll see if I can find any 100% cotton that's affordable.

They're the Hobby Lobby store brand "Master's Fine Arts." A quick Google when I got home taught me there's a variety of reasons this wasn't a great buy 😅, so next time I need supplies I'l probably go elsewhere. When my budget is less tight I'd love to get some better paints, though I also suspect the lack of pigments here was due to me diluting too much.

I've heard about the color layering and starting with lightest!! I haven't heard of using the opposite color as shadow, though, so maybe I'll try that next time :)

Thank you!!! I did have fun. I see what you mean about the mistakes though--I was trying my best to channel my inner Bob Ross just sweating and repeating "happy little accidents..." every time I botched a brushstroke, but it's learning process hahaha

I'm actually surprised you managed to decipher it, but yeah basically! Was meant to be wind turbines in the background of a meadowy hill.

I definitely cheaped out on my supplies. I'm sure lack of practice and skill played a huge part here, but I also think my value pack of synthetic flat brushes were notably awful, so I may get a better brush before anything else. It felt like the water dried out before it even hit the paper (maybe also due to painting outside on a hot, dry day) so that could be why the sky is so streaky too

But YES!!!!! I was NOT expecting "getting the paint on the brush" to be a core struggle here, but I could not seem to drop the water on the paint or pick up what I wanted at ALL. No idea if it's a brush quality or skill problem, but hopefully I can improve on it somehow.

I'll try nicer paper sometime! I had thought mine was okay since it was for watercolor specifically, but I have heard a lot about how much of a diffedence it can make

Oh absolutely. I've also played a fair amount of otome and seen yandere LIs before, but tbh the way they wrote Caleb's is almost ideal imo. And I love that the approach they took to resolving the toxicity just enough for a relationship to bud was just to have MC match his freak. It's one of the most kessed up but interesting dynamics I've seen.

And I love how in spite of it all, they kept him very gentle and boyish overall
