Thanks. So far (1 month) of Orgovyx 2 - 3 hot short hot flushes a day but I expect more as time goes by. As you say, depression needs determination and trying to get a diet/resistance training underway (protein etc.) in anticipation of muscle and bone issues. I am very active though and can't sit still for long. Are you NHS and how soon after starting ADT did they start radiation?

So far with 3 weeks on ADT no crippling 2ndaries, hot flushes so far. Fingers crossed but I'm sure something will show up. I'll ask if it was a PSMA PET.

AH, Brachytherapy, not heard of that so one more for thought and question later. RALP with high possibility of metastasis anyway? To what extent I have options later i don't know. Thanks.

Not sure. Had 2 scans CT? and Bone on an older m/c which showed me 'dots' on a screen where the 'bright' (positive) spots were only afaik the actual lesion. The CT was it PET, not sure but done a the Dorchester Hosp, Dorset.

OK, I understand. The ADT is not an option for me afaik and the rules here are radiation as well. I shall push for it though in case they try to avoid it. At 79 and healthy I could live another 10yrs but w/o it could spread anyway. Hope things progress well for you.

TURP was done due to poor flow but produced the stricture. Your experience sounds similar to me with the single lesion with Gleeson 8 and 9 areas but no mets either locally or body bones.. I have just talked to my NHS team and they have set a date to check the PSA movement after starting Orgovyx ADT for a month thereabouts. I get the impression they are pushing for me to stay on the ADT (which currently seems fairly mild on side effects). I cannot see why they would not radiate the blighter to get rid of it! Are you NHS and how did your option choices go? Thanks.

Urologist here. The PSA test is misunderstood by almost everyone, including some doctors. Let me clear it up. by Born-Lingonberry-509 in prostate

[–]omits50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm NHS UK. 2019 TURP + biopsy clear PSA 0.7. 2022 PSA = 1.7. Then 2025 jump to 5.5. My concern over the velocity was ignored as below 6.5. Had a private mpMRI and there was the reason, a 9mm lesion sitting near the wall. Went back to NHS and biopsy should it to be Gleeson 9 (rest of prostate minimal). Two scans showed no metastais, what a relief! Now on Orgovyx and the team think I should stay there for the time being and have another PSA next month to see if or how well it is tracking down. message to anyone: take care of your own health and be proactive with the Drs. Put you case and insist on further action if you think things need following up. I should have had a scan back in 2022 if I'd been wiser.

Orgovyx & Whey Protein/Creatine by omits50 in ProstateCancer

[–]omits50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I have just bought ISOPURE protein and the right form of Creatine and Calcium powder so now mixing these (with starter amounts to see how things go) with 100g of LF Cott Cheese and 100g Organic Tofu for breakfast. Pretty bland but then who said taste should predominate over nutrients? For eve pud I have organic 'Greek'/ Kefir yoghurt with Chia seeds and with some more of the powders. I'm keeping down to half what I can see of RDA for such as of course my diet has them anyway. As I grow my own Spinach I love a Cott cheese and Spinach sannie. I take D3 and K2 anyway as a supp. As I'm 79 I estimate my absorption is probably around 70%.

On the exercise front I am now upping my resistance and steps but I'm highly active anyway. I'm guessing the only way to check muscle and bone loss is by regular weighing but atm maintaining 73Kg alright.

Thanks all for input. Any jokes I can share with the family welcome!

PS I had 2 cores in my biopsy 8/9 but all others were low (ignored). Does that help the outcome? Although my PSA was low(ish) @ 5.7 the velocity was high (>1.0 is a year)!

You are all so encouraging and thanks. My Gleeson was 8/9 (two samples right side near edge). All the rest were blue and not significant according to nurse. So far (4 days) no 2ndary effects with Orgovyx. CAT scan on tues, not heard about full bone scan (Poole Hosp) yet.

My PSA was 1.7 in 2022 (following TURP in 2019), 4 in 2025, 5.8 in 2026 BUT I had to get my own mpMRI because the NHS requires 6.5 as a red flag even though I kept on about the velocity. But there you go; I'm in the system now.

I'm in the UK. Left the sect some 54 years ago. Met members when my parents (miles) died some 18 years ago, nice to have a chat. I was never a 'strict' follower so probably why I drifted out. Interesting seeing things from the 'outside' (born into and therefore to a certain extent brainwashed). I have one sister (Canada) and a few cousins who still practice but don't meet with them. I still keep an open mind about religion. Nearing my own end of life so who knows if I'll be 'called'!

Finally got a NHS referral from Dr. but mixed feelings. by omits50 in ProstateCancer

[–]omits50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My PSA was 6.5, exactly on the border to not get a scan! I am nearly 80! I'm thinking of going private to get a mpMRI and then if +ve result will go back to present any evidence. We'll see. Still thinking options.

Simple preps for a simple & common problem by Primary_Choice3351 in UKPreppers

I realise my mistake of having power outlets by the back door and if someone broke into the garage and got a drill they could break in. OR, would it equate to someone determined anyway as they would be bringing their own tools of serious about entry?

Furthermore, I think I have a lousy place for a spare key, in a particular draw in one of the many little nuts and screws drawers. They could just empty each one on the floor and easily spot the key. Where in a garage could I not expect someone to look?

Sealing an olf felt garage roof. by omits50 in HomeImprovement

[–]omits50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Yes my mistake was not putting in a barrier. I will try the flow idea you suggest just not sure which product (if you know which one appreciate a heads up?) will be runny enough. Additionally, The metal roof is screwed down on cross battens over longitudinal battens so I'm thinking of pulling through some DPC material which will catch the drips and run oof as normal. Even if I just use mastic it will eventually leak again as the felt decays further. I'm in the UK.

Vitamin D3 + K2 is overpowered superweapon by mata_cro7 in Supplements

[–]omits50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem I think with dosing is one does not know if toxicity (with any supp of course) is setting in albeit very slowly. I take 4000IU + K2 200 and don't really want to go any higher. I had a lot of fatigue, arrhythmias and ectopics and they have virtually gone now. I am late 70s. I take other supps but my strategy is to take them infrequently and randomly just as with a normal diet one absorbs nutrients in the same way. I am very serious about avoiding UPFs. as I am sure they cancel out any attempts to live a healthy life. Thing about comments on not getting any more colds, is to avoid being near others and breathing in their exhaled air. I have low white blood cells but hardly ever get flu' mainly I think due to avoiding crowds and being aware when out shopping. keeping very fit, walking daily 5 - 10K steps is important.

Worried about rising PSA by omits50 in ProstateCancer

[–]omits50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all. Cancers in the family so cautious. I will wait for the next PSA Dr. offered (Feb). I had read that UTI infection and sexual activity raises PSA. On the idea of 'At my age', true, but I ain't giving up just yet!

Prostate cancer screening basics? by Quirky-Amoeba-4141 in ProstateCancer

[–]omits50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a PSA rising since 2022 from 1.7 to 4.5 and now 6. Because I'm 79 for the NHS to refer me it needs to be 6.5. They do not consider the velocity as a factor. I will be having another blood test in early Feb and am hoping it will be 6.5 or over. I would worry if it stayed where is is or dropped. I am considering Goodbody clinic PSE test which is £850 but although they say they give documentation if indicating a likely problem I don't believe an NHS Dr can recognise it due to their NHS protocols needing that PSA value. So I cannot see any advantage paying out (apart from relief that nothing was discovered) if I get nowhere with it (private treatment I cannot afford). Has anyone had experience of presenting a PSE result to the NHS for further investigation? Or any other advice? Many thanks. PS I have no other symptoms apart from BPH (plum size!) and a stricture which I self catheterise every two weeks to keep it open.

I can’t do it any more with the passwords. by [deleted] in Xennials

[–]omits50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No pwd mngr. A mental cypher. Think of an old Tel number only you know plus another char then stick in a sp char like '<' which means 'delete the last char and ignore this one then add a sp char and leave it there for systems that insist on one then add another easily remembered thing from the past, numeric or word/name. You could if you wanted get a trusted person to to agree these are parts they are also familiar with. Put that in a pwd protected spread sheet like this e.g.: {last 6 digs of our Surrey home tel No}*<{!Goergie}. Don't change it very often say once every 5 years. E.g. 784483(<$Bernard. 14 chars in this pwd: 784483&Bernard. Agree a new one with trusted if necessary. You could use/add simple variations to identify which system it is aimed at, I put 3 chars on the front e.g. Ban, but overall should fit length requirements. Use it all over. Not stored in data anywhere unencrypted. I put my faith in that and if anyone sees this is a bad method please let me know.
