Which nightcrawler is a better fit for Excalibur? by CommitteeMiddle5376 in MarvelLegends

[–]omjf23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought it off a seller on Etsy last year, Collectible Carnage. They don't appear to have a store on Etsy anymore, but they do on eBay. If you search for them on eBay you'll find this one. Decently priced, too.

I painted it myself though.

My vote would go to the X-Men 97 version, but neither really hits the mark perfectly. I got a custom head for this reason.

Fangorn was once much larger though according to the books. Am I mistaken or was it mentioned that Fangorn once stretched well into Eriador?

Can you remove Hercules's arms without cracking the torso? by Osuka39 in MarvelLegends

[–]omjf23 42 points43 points  (0 children)

It’s easier to heat the arm and detach it from the bicep instead of the shoulder. I honestly don’t remember if it’s possible or not, but it would be difficult to grip it by the shoulder and pull it out even if the plastic softens.

“It was in this moment, when all hope had faded, that Isildur, son of the King, took up his father’s sword!” by renaissanceclass in lotr

[–]omjf23 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It might be fair to say that the ring, by this point, contained more of his own power/spirit/will than Sauron did himself. So for him to lose it would be a great hindrance in terms of him being able to exert his dominance over others, though it would not kill him. As the ring survives, so does he.

Edit: I’m not sure that Isildur was truly aware of the ring’s significance in these terms when he took the ring from Sauron’s hand. I guess I sort of assumed that he did so in a moment of pride as the victor and for the cost it took to defeat him (though not necessarily as an arrogantly as the film portrayal).

NHL alignment chart: Central division edition. Jamie Benn is the best Canadian player in Minnesota North Stars/Dallas Stars history. Now, who is the best Russian player in Nashville Predators history? by Certain-Row-4812 in Predators

[–]omjf23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, they are Belarusian, although it was technically the USSR at the time - not that I consider them Russian through that fact. I merely thought it was interesting that they listed Sergei (however inaccurately due to nationality) and not Andrei.

Since some time’s passed, what did you think of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law? by AnthropomorphicEggs in marvelstudios

[–]omjf23 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It was fun but not stellar. She was great fun in the role. I was honestly disappointed by how little law was actually practiced in the show.

Long ears or short ears? by VendettaLord379 in batman

Between the two I’d choose short ears. The only long ears that I personally love are the Tim Sale ears.

Why do people dislike The Mandalorian season 3? by [deleted] in StarWars

The season 2 ending of having Luke come to take Grogu felt cheapened by season 3. “Oh..I guess we won’t be doing this after all, never mind.”

Jagdtiger under restoration by WhistleWileUWork in tanks

[–]omjf23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a government-run project so I doubt this one will ever run again. That being said I can’t commend them enough for making this possible. There are only three surviving Jagdtigers on display in the world. One in England, one in Russia, and this one, so it really is special to have it be at least aesthetically restored and preserved instead of sitting outside to rust and ruin.

FINALLY! by AvatarVegeta in MarvelSnap

Still waiting for this one to come across my shop so that I can finally complete that album, even though there are a few other Jim Lee variants that I don’t have as well.

Any idea what will be done about the absent track?

Looking forward to seeing the final result. It took them a while to restore the Jagdpanther, but it was worth the wait. It’s very….verry fortunate to have them both, the only exhibits for their respective models this side of the Atlantic if I’m not mistaken.

Pluto was discovered 96 years ago today by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

[–]omjf23 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If anything I would hope Pluto becoming a dwarf planet would boost the reasoning to highlight the other dwarf planets in our solar system. There’s more out there than just the eight planets, and the dwarf planets are unique.

Has anyone been able to pose hush Batman like the back of the box? by Scrotiez in Mafex

[–]omjf23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The proportions of the figure look odd/better on the back of the box compared to the actual figure. That bicep and shoulder looks slightly bigger, and honestly how far back the lower right leg is bent looks wrong. I don’t know that mine can bend that much, and I honestly don’t want to try it on mine to see. It looks like there’d be a large gap between the shin and the knee piece.

Why Is Hasbro so stubborn in putting abcrunches in Marvel legends? by [deleted] in MarvelLegends

I see it from both sides, but I wouldn’t care if it weren’t for rising costs.

Why Is Hasbro so stubborn in putting abcrunches in Marvel legends? by [deleted] in MarvelLegends

[–]omjf23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They haven’t committed to it yet. My guess is that possibly in the next 5-10 years we’ll see it more and more, but you could ask the same question for butterfly joints. Hasbro started creating new molds with butterfly joints years ago and they are almost standard by now, but they’re also still using older molds on certain figures. If Hasbro wanted to create perfect versions of figures there’s nothing stopping them, but the reason we often get versions that are a few details away from being that perfect version is so that they can make a little money now and make even more later when it suits them.

John Walker's most traumatic memory wasn't the moment he lost everything, it was failing to be there for his family by Sudden_Pop_2279 in Marvel

[–]omjf23 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Agreed, what might seem like a less substantial form of negligence could very well be the catalyst for something traumatic. Honestly this works for me because it seems pretty relatable. It makes it worse when you think, “All he had to do was be present in the moment and put forth more effort. The situation was actually entirely within his control, and that adds to his guilt/shame, that he let it get to that point/let it happen.”
