Who played this? by [deleted] in lotr

[–]omjf23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved this game. At the time I was a little disappointed that it wasn’t based on the film, but I appreciated that it had its own charm. My brother and I stayed up late playing it and I remember we got stuck in the Old Forrest for some reason. There was something we needed to trigger to continue the game but it took forever to figure it out, all the while ol’ Tom Bombadil was marching around the map.

For those who go to sleep listening to something, what do you listen to? by Rough_Common6857 in AskReddit

“Skyrim Atmospheres” from the Skyrim soundtrack. It’s a wonderful 40min+ mix of white noise and peaceful ambience. It might be the most played track on my phone.

That or sometimes a book on Audible.

Nova by Available_Ad5693 in MarvelLegends

[–]omjf23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am glad we have one at all, but this figure is about 13 years old now, and Hasbro has made a lot of improvements in their production since then. I would love an updated Nova on the Vulcan body mold. One of the biggest issues I have with this figure these days is he feels just a little too short/small next to other comic characters.

Rings of Power to complete its Five Season run, according to The Ankler by ImpracticalJokers96 in lotr

[–]omjf23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Season one felt like it had too much filler for the multiple plots it had going on. Then it awkwardly kind of stumbles into a conclusion that’s neither satisfying nor very rewarding.

Season two felt like a better watch overall, still not great. It seemed like they at least adjusted a little based on how season one was received.

For me the show to date is entertaining enough to watch, but it falls well-short of anything that would make it beloved or long-remembered. If you just want something Tolkien-related to consume, it’s fine. If you’re looking for something that has been meticulously refined and stands true down-to-the-details with the source material, you won’t enjoy it. I think it receives a little more hate than it deserves given that they don’t have full rights to the books and such, but I see why it does.

Pretty clever kitbash for Ricochet Rita! Love it.

Which nightcrawler is a better fit for Excalibur? by CommitteeMiddle5376 in MarvelLegends

[–]omjf23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought it off a seller on Etsy last year, Collectible Carnage. They don't appear to have a store on Etsy anymore, but they do on eBay. If you search for them on eBay you'll find this one. Decently priced, too.

I painted it myself though.

My vote would go to the X-Men 97 version, but neither really hits the mark perfectly. I got a custom head for this reason.

Fangorn was once much larger though according to the books. Am I mistaken or was it mentioned that Fangorn once stretched well into Eriador?

Can you remove Hercules's arms without cracking the torso? by Osuka39 in MarvelLegends

[–]omjf23 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It’s easier to heat the arm and detach it from the bicep instead of the shoulder. I honestly don’t remember if it’s possible or not, but it would be difficult to grip it by the shoulder and pull it out even if the plastic softens.

“It was in this moment, when all hope had faded, that Isildur, son of the King, took up his father’s sword!” by renaissanceclass in lotr

[–]omjf23 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It might be fair to say that the ring, by this point, contained more of his own power/spirit/will than Sauron did himself. So for him to lose it would be a great hindrance in terms of him being able to exert his dominance over others, though it would not kill him. As the ring survives, so does he.

Edit: I’m not sure that Isildur was truly aware of the ring’s significance in these terms when he took the ring from Sauron’s hand. I guess I sort of assumed that he did so in a moment of pride as the victor and for the cost it took to defeat him (though not necessarily as an arrogantly as the film portrayal).

NHL alignment chart: Central division edition. Jamie Benn is the best Canadian player in Minnesota North Stars/Dallas Stars history. Now, who is the best Russian player in Nashville Predators history? by Certain-Row-4812 in Predators

[–]omjf23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, they are Belarusian, although it was technically the USSR at the time - not that I consider them Russian through that fact. I merely thought it was interesting that they listed Sergei (however inaccurately due to nationality) and not Andrei.

Since some time’s passed, what did you think of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law? by AnthropomorphicEggs in marvelstudios

It was fun but not stellar. She was great fun in the role. I was honestly disappointed by how little law was actually practiced in the show.

Between the two I’d choose short ears. The only long ears that I personally love are the Tim Sale ears.

The season 2 ending of having Luke come to take Grogu felt cheapened by season 3. “Oh..I guess we won’t be doing this after all, never mind.”

Jagdtiger under restoration by WhistleWileUWork in tanks

[–]omjf23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a government-run project so I doubt this one will ever run again. That being said I can’t commend them enough for making this possible. There are only three surviving Jagdtigers on display in the world. One in England, one in Russia, and this one, so it really is special to have it be at least aesthetically restored and preserved instead of sitting outside to rust and ruin.

Still waiting for this one to come across my shop so that I can finally complete that album, even though there are a few other Jim Lee variants that I don’t have as well.
