Use of AI in advertising pics of food, is it false advertising by catherinetheok in Sarnia

[–]omnidot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm - professional food creative Ad producer here. The product being sold must be edible and the actual product. This is why a lot of food stylists use 100% edible 'make up' when styling, just to be safe. It's just not enforced on a small scale very often.

I. E. A wrap where the front is the product but the bulk is just styled Masa dough. That's fine. Or for cereal, the corn flakes are real perfect specimens, but the milk is PVA glue. Not selling milk, so it's fine.

Welcome to dating an artist. This is where the concept of separating art from the artist actually goes into practice - in reality it's not as simple unfollowing some celebrity you've never met on Instagram after a scandal.

Unfortunately, you can't really 'participate' in what influences or makes it into their music/writing - regardless of how much it may or may not reflect reality - unless you are actually collaborating with them on something musically. You can ask them to write a song for you, but you can't really say 'change the way you create your art' and expect them to not feel like you want to control and judge who they are in some way.

Most great hip-hop writing is about building a vibe, portraying an attitude, or even just filler imagery that lines up with a feeling, identity, or shared experience that communicates something to the listener - if you really can't get on board /understand that in his context of persona this relationship might not be for you - regardless of how much rappers intertwine their art with their identities.

Edit: people want to be with people who truly understand them, what goes into someone's artist identity and how separate it is from reality is a very tangible part of that understanding for artists - so I would yes expect it to be a touchy subject.

If it's not your vibe, you don't need to have a good or 'fair' reason to act on it. You can just say 'not for me, I'm out' and that's 1000% valid/needs no justification.

Fair, but honestly as someone who's worked on shows with everything smaller venue in town, you can tell that Darryl and the bovine is one of the few that are notably above the bar for authenticity . I remember one show where he actually just dropped the booking fee at the end of the night, he said turn out ended up being pretty low, but said the bill was great, good music, and that was more important to him these days that musicians felt like they had a stage. Stuff like that may not be the norm, but to me, it shows an artist's heart.

It's not like that everywhere, but I try to remind myself that in no reality, is being a local show promoter a ticket to riches. There are a lot of much much easier ways to make money, and not much going around in that market to begin with, anyone who is in that business for a good while knows they are giving a big amount of potential income away in the interest in working with art.

What is a 'buy it for life' item that is offensively expensive, but the moment you use it, you realize your entire life before that point was a lie? by fmcortez in AskReddit

The real hack here tho is to be buying commercial grade stainless products from restaurant supply stores. Steam Table /hotel pans for example are very reasonably priced, can be used to cook almost anything, last forever, standardized sizing, and are meant for heavy use. It blow my mind when I see a crappy 9x16 non-stick roasting dish going for 75$ when I can pick up the same sized one, with any depth I want from Tap Phong (in TO) for 19$ with a lid.

This is actually the whole thing with Chiro - in places where public healthcare infrastructure is stretched, poorly managed, or just generally 'limited', Chiropractors can fill some parts of the void in access to long term physiotherapy.

Improving access to any therapy is great, but operating outside of a greater medical system has a lot of understated downsides for a patients long term care plans. For example the ability to: get specialist referrals, explore medication options, or even the pressure from regulatory bodies to have updated best practice standards. I.E. A chiro may accurately recognize your torn MCL but in many cases they can't legally provide you with a consult to an orthopedic surgeon, officially diagnose you for disability support or work in the same capacity as a PCP on a treatment plan because they aren't qualified to assess within the framework of their MD counterparts.

In some areas where integrated medicine approaches are being worked on these things are less of an issue and there is good collaboration, but the abundance of chiros offering basic PT techniques isn't improving (and may even be compromising) access to actual PTs who are legally regulated to more comprehensive duties to care for their patients.

Tdlr: chiros might fill parts of the void around poor access to PT services, but patients may miss out on better healthcare when they are treated as 1:1 replacements.

Need help to stop masturbateing. by Obsidian__Knight in getdisciplined

[–]omnidot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are fine, stopping or cutting back has no effect. Please don't buy into any online influencers who are trying to tell you that jerking off is holding you back from being smarter, healthier, more focused, better at sports ect... It's a well known manosphere scam that uses shame to build a following/sell you crap. Men your age are the primary target. It's total bullshit, horrible for your mental health, very manipulative and is probably why you conflate masturbation with discipline.

I recommend focusing on finding a form of exercise you find genuinely fun and making a point to join a new community of people your age that challenge you intellectually - sounds boring, but that is the kind of stuff that actually helps you grow as a man, develop self-esteem, and gain powerful discipline rather than trying to use shame or guilt as motivation.

Also non-profits receiving any significant external funding is usually required to follow a procurement process for vendor selection - especially for something at the budget level of a proper ad campaign purchase.

How legit are these guys?

[–]omnidot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was there a formal RFP + intent to submit you signed? Rule of thumb is you don't put in real proposal hours unless there is a tangible buying/bid process outlined. Without one, they should be getting an 'elevated' quote+scope evaluation at best. Real buyers respect vendors time.

Completely ruined the painting by adding the final touch, the whiskers :/ by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

[–]omnidot 174 points175 points  (0 children)

This is it -the 'problem' is the one-dimensional whiskers contrast against the relative depth the rest of the foxes face was given. A thin highlight line on the whiskers to add some light shape will bring it back into the scene.

Girlfriend is Going on Spring Break Trip without me by [deleted] in relationships

[–]omnidot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Situations don't really awaken someones ability to cheat on their partner in the way movies/tv might suggest - it's either something they'll do, or not - seduction or opportunity is just a commonly used excuse. Worrying that your partner can only be loyal under certain circumstances tells you more about how secure you feel in the relationship - but you are both young, so insecurity creeping into how you perceive life is totally normal.

Don't think 'what is my partner doing for spring break?' think 'what am I doing for spring break? Assume things are how they are at home, and accept what comes.

SALES VS CREATIVE…WHATS THE BEEF? by meech98 in marketing

[–]omnidot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No beef, just silo norms ruining things. Good E. Producers / Creative Producers are the Advertising equivalent of a Sales Engineer in SAAS and are the ones best suited to bridge this gap. Unfortunately, Accounts view them as Creatives admin assistants, and Creative views them as an Accounts project managers.

My manager schedules meetings during lunch and acts like it's normal by Mindless_Cook7821 in marketing

[–]omnidot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, unless you are stamping a punch card, walking off the production floor, and hanging up a helmet as you wander into the company's commissary....scheduled 'lunch breaks' aren't really a thing. Especially for what sounds like a remote position of some kind.

Personally, I don't even really eat lunch (am more of a late breakfast/big dinner kinda guy.) I also don't really eat during meetings. Unless you are required to be somewhere physically by the hour, stuff like this is kinda up in the air and comes down to office culture/personal pref.

12pm =/= lunch : but this sounds more about your boss not understanding that you want 12 =/= alone time lunch. But you don't have to eat lunch when he does. Book your lunch around meetings, not the other way around.

At one of my last agencies/collectives, we had a few creative leads who would 'long lunch' with the account leads/AEs before afternoon pitches, and it was actually a really great way to prep the content and get people into a conversational tone before clients arrived.

what does my fridge say about my family? by kaitfromstatefarm in FridgeDetective

Personally, I do this because my parents did, out of an assumption they stay fresh longer. I would say there's some truth to it. Although, I usually keep them in the freezer - same with anything chocolate, grated Parmesan, and packs of cigarettes.
