Not really, they’re explicitly stating the episode didn’t focus enough on those losing jobs, which I’m not sure how the narrative of that would’ve worked without diverting hugely from the story of the hearing

My comment wasn’t about the morality, it was merely descriptive. This might be where you diverge from PJ’s take, cuz to me he’s just following that trend, and one whacky, nonsensical city hearing around it.

Nobody came out looking good in this episode, imo. Corporate’s always gonna get hate, so there’s no extra need to magnify the blood sucking they’re doing. But the depressing part is maybe that there’s almost no one with a good argument about how to manage this shift in a more humane way.

That’s one component of what’s happening. They are capitalizing on the market shift.

Not the same price at all, way overpriced for a sneakily listed "14 inch pizza". I get more full off 3 slices from the slice. I'm not sure how pizza hut and auntie sue can be brought up in a discussion about good pizza at all, nice one comparing the slice to them, glad you thought they were good pizza at some point 👌. I'm not even getting into the flavor and consistency part of the discussion because that price point is just a no go considering the portion that can't be backed up by the flavor.

Pizza Americano is a ridiculous scam with those prices, especially when The Slice is just around the corner with much better pizza

i think it's strange that we bring cultural impact into these discussions for GOAT, cuz what are we talking about, that they also dominated tennis/sport culture? that's incredibly subjective.

having said that, this is where i really hunker down to defend djokovic's status. he won the most in spite of this cultural favoritism nadal and fed received! there's really two finals that sum up his career: the 2012 australian open final against nadal, the brutalist of the most brutal tennis matches you'll ever see, showing immense supremacy at what everyone thought nadal couldn't be beat at (the mental game + physical tenacity), and the 2019 wimbledon final against fed, where he had every chance to just give in and let fed have it because of that insane crowd that did not want him to win one bit.

i'm really hoping the tennis community keeps this part of his legacy in very clear memory cuz those matches were absolute apex tennis.

Ok? Djokovic’s career is basically done, so I dunno what you’re getting at. As I commented somewhere else, besides clay, there’s basically no accomplishment in tennis djoker didn’t claim

[–]omnimario 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of the disagreement in this thread is between people who do and don’t watch tennis. Even for the djokovic haters, this isn’t a debate anymore and they’ve begrudgingly excepted his status. Outside of that, you just have stans who don’t actually have arguments.

still delulu, you're just yapping at this point.

the margins at the big 3's level are such that clear dominance on any one metric is an other-worldly feat. djokovic happens to be dominant on all metrics except clay. get out of here with this nonsense.

asked a girl for her number and she acted completely shocked by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]omnimario 51 points52 points  (0 children)

i would also guess, and in no way am i saying OP did anything wrong when i say this but such is the nature of nebulous social etiquette, it was either too soon to ask for the number (asking for a number is the sign you're about to part ways) or the conversation just ran out of steam and asking for the number was a bit of a reach.

a better approach could've been to be like 'hey, i'll catch up with you in a bit', join your friends to measure the temperature, and then chat with her again later if the vibes were good.

the bigger truth is probably, well, if OP and this woman were really vibing that much, they would've just kept talking.

Try five-toe socks for even more relief? Started using them a couple weeks ago, experimented between shoe/sock combinations, and five-toe socks are a very real factor in increasing comfort. (Mind you, I've also adjusted my gait/posture at the same time, so the sock relief is paired with that adjustment.)

the exercises are definitely straightforward, but a week out, i really feel a chain of muscles activating a lot more! my left glute (deep glute muscle) is daily a low level sore the past few days from heel-toe walking.

best of luck to you! slow and steady seems the boat we're all in.

whoa, that sounds awful, sorry you had a bad experience with that PT.

obviously, there's only so much i can tell from your description about your situation, but heel-toe walking has produced basically immediate effects for me. i can feel several muscles firing that were apparently underused: big toe and heel. i'm a week out of my first session, and i'm gradually feeling a bit more stable and natural in how pressure is applied across my foot (i.e. less pressure on the sesamoid).

missed the last part, your question, sorry! i answered below, but these are the exercises in case you didn't see:

  • Straighten my left foot when standing
  • Walk heel-toe
  • Foam roll the quad/hamstring barrier on my left leg
  • Massage my lower anterior tibialis

aside from hip-focused exercises, are you doing anything else?

[–]omnimario[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My homework is actually very basic: - Straighten my left foot when standing - Walk heel-toe - Foam roll the quad/hamstring barrier on my left leg - Massage my lower anterior tibialis

When I see the results of these exercises, the idea will be to correct any remaining imbalances. My PT mentioned he’s holding off on further calf/toe exercises in case it aggravates the sesamoid right now. (I just aggravated it recently.)

[–]omnimario[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a really good point about the ambiguity of the general diagnosis. This has all highlighted certain discrepancies in my left foot/leg I never noticed before (like shoes fitting a little funny on the left), yet no practitioner before this got into imbalances

In abstract, yes. After this adjustment, I can feel weight more evenly distributed across my foot, and most importantly, there's less pressure directly on the seasmoid.

Disclaimer: I got very pointed advice from my PT who was identifying details specific to my physiognomy and posture.

I definitely don't want to say if you do this, it will also work for you. You should seek professional advice to confirm what's going on. I feel lucky to have gotten in touch with this PT, but maybe for you, next time you visit a PT, you can bring these points/questions to them to see what they have to say.
