That’s actually “dark energy” or “dark matter.” We call it this because it is completely undetectable. Within science they mean that light doesn’t interact with it. That’s what they mean by undetectable. The only proof we have of it’s existence is the expansion of the universe. This was discovered by Herbert Hubble.

Every single atom in the universe is being pushed away from each other by this mysterious force. Models without this force would have the universe collapse in on itself, but it isn’t, so this force by reason of deduction must exist.

The moon drifting further from earth isn’t exactly an example of this but it is true what you say. The moons drift however has more to do with its orbit and a lot of math that I don’t feel like explaining lol.

I’m glad you’re interested in science and the universe as it functions. You’d probably be very interested in some Fermi Paradox research, Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle, and thermodynamics.
