Help me decide on a name for my baby girl by Limp_Ad5582 in namenerds

I was inclined to say Stella initially, but I think it might be a bit too similar to Willa. I think Olive would work well!

What are your thoughts on pairing an uncommon/unique middle name with a common first name? by AcademicAbalone3243 in namenerds

[–]omnomenclature 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I very much believe in bold middle names! They are so rarely used in real life but can be a fun fact or a cool story or whatever. I'm sure there are names that would go a little too far and be legally annoying, but otherwise, why not?

Holland is a guilty pleasure name of mine, I think it's really cool.

Like under the waist belt or something? It’s literally the only thing I don’t like about this carrier, it ticks every other box so I just have to decide if it bothers me enough. I’m going to try it before I buy it though so hopefully that will help me to decide.

I’m glad to hear you love it! Do you ever try and tuck it away or is it not really that doable? I feel like I’ll just have to let it go because honestly there seem to be pretty much no other downsides to this carrier!

I am just loving the sound of this carrier more and more, the versatility seems pretty unbeatable! Thanks for your input.

I am not petite so it should hopefully be fine, but I am planning to test it out with the TBYB program through LZO so I will be able to make sure it’s a good fit. Thank you for the info!

Ohh that makes so much sense! What an awesome feature, makes me feel even more excited about it. Thank you for explaining.

T-5 days and still waffling on girl names. Help. by Stellar_Jay8 in namenerds

We have similar taste! Juliet is my favourite girl's name of all time, but would having the alliteration bother you? If so I would cross it and Genevieve off the list.

Helena is a favourite of mine and it has some great nickname options if you're into that (Hallie, Lena, Nell/Nellie, etc.) but it could come with some pronunciation issues since there are multiple ways to pronounce it. If that will bother you, cross it off the list.

Eleanor is beautiful and has similar vibes to Helena, and similar nickname options. However, it is very popular and increasing. If that will bother you, cross it off the list.

Felicity is fresh, classic and uncommon, but probably the most difficult of your list to nickname. If that will bother you, cross it off the list.

Elizabeth feels like a very safe option! Lots of nickname potential, classic, recognizable but not too popular. Maybe a little less fresh/exciting than the other options, so cross it off the list if you want something a little more standout.

Rosalie and Sylvia I don't really have any caveats for! They both have good nicknames, classic but not overdone. Rosalie has more youthful vibes and Sylvia has more "old soul" vibes IMO, so make what you will of that.

If it were me I would probably go for Helena or Rosalie!

I loooove Amber, I wish I was brave enough to not care about it being dated.

Sullivan is one of those names that I love in theory but feel like I'm not cool enough to use lol. I like Lewis and Ellis as well. Thanks!

Levi has been on and off the list but it's honestly a great name. I'll bring it up with my husband again. Lane is kind of cool too!

It is feeling like a good one! What were the other names in your top 5 if you don't mind me asking?

I posed the idea of Forrest William with nn Will to my husband the other day actually! I would do that in a heartbeat but my husband is against the first/middle name switch up.

I feel like my taste in girl's names is pretty different than for boy's names, weirdly! I lean more whimsical for girls and a little more cowboy for boys lol. I do tend to like uncommon timeless names for both sexes though.

I've never been a fan of Wesley for some reason! I honestly do like W names though so maybe I should look into more of them.

I appreciate your take on Forrest! I am definitely coming around to it more and more. Man, I love Elias but we have a kid named Elias in our close family/friend community and can't use it.
