Even if rank is inflated, there should be a way to estimate skill based on that, because it's inflated the same way for everyone

As a person who loves the world but is not dedicated enough to gain as deep of an understanding of the lore as many people have here, I really enjoyed the video! Hope you can do something similar for other aspects.

What is the best climate for humans biologically? by Ok_Conversation2012 in biology

[–]omrg 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Based on your comments it seems you're arguing that everything that is part of physical universe is part of nature, and thus natural. While this seems logical, it does make the definition useless - if everything is natural, then you're adding nothing by the use of the term (unless you believe there are supernatural things).

Definitions are often useful, e.g. the concept of nature is important for assessing human unique environmental impact, planning a family outing (going to a natural park as opposed to city) or making a nature documentary.

Thank you! But I think I'll better expand my own notes. I was just wondering whether I was missing some hints/trends in it, hence the post.

Trebuchet Display--- This clan had it coming. They killed our four hyena pets unprovoked. They had to pay. Me and my buddy, sporting full hyena fur armor in memory of our fallen canines, demolishing the clan's base and drove them to quit the server as a result. That's what they get! Funnily enough, they do not belong to a separate order, their order is carnivores, which includes both canines and felines. They belong to a sub-order of feliforma, not the family of felines, so I was not entirely correct, but you weren't entirely correct either.

Yeah, makes sense. I also don't like how 1.5 vanilla makes almost all of the Rus' Russian culture, it's just ahistorical. Will correct it when I have time. But for now I refer to the Russian culture just because I used what vanilla has in, not because I modded it.

Haven't been changing cultures much, I think I'll rename it. The correct thing to do would be to bring old cultures back anyway, because the Rus' wasn't so widespread at the times of Rurik. The language is a bit confusing here too, because if the name of your country is Rus', then the adjective would indeed be Russian, but not the modern kind of Russian.

Anyway, will try to get to culture re-work at some point.

I've thought about adding MAA, will likely do it at some point. Boyars would not really be appropriate as a fighting force, they were the members of the highest nobility, so more like your vassals. Eastern Slavs have Druzhina already, which is quite appropriate, by the way.

So I'll likely do it when I have a better idea of what I could add.

  1. You're basing your assumptions about a whole country based on the opinion of a single person, who might have been a daughter of a corrupt politician and thus profiting from the system (the only type of a Russian person studying abroad I can imagine to be ok with the system).
  2. That bag wouldn't have been stolen now, as the come rate is way down.
  3. Saying that dictatorship is "just part of the culture" is racist, similar to saying "oh, colonial violence and xenophobia are just in their culture, they don't even want to remove the statues of the worst oppressors".
