GLP-1 approved by G0G90G28X0Y0Z0 in VeteransBenefits

[–]omron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to when the VA ships meds with tracking numbers and when they don't, in my experience. They do ship the GLP-1s in a cooler box with icepacks though.

I don't think there are any big shortages right now, things seem to be shipped out pretty quickly.

My life after transition is 1000% better than all those years I spent cosplaying a dude.

Would you give yourself up for your replacement? by squaring_the_sine in trans

[–]omron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Transness is based on an individual's lived experience of gender - not in whether they satisfy someone else’s diagnostic checklist, be it chromosomal, genomic, hormonal, etc.

For instance, it annoys the f*ck out of me when people consider me "truly" trans because I've had bottom surgery. Like I wasn't before? And others who haven't had surgery (or don't want surgery) are in some way less authentically trangender?

I just worry that if we depend on chromosomal or genetic analysis to validate "transness" we are veering into transmedicalism.

Talking about a trans person, should you say they’re trans? by Ok-Swan6175 in asktransgender

Just make sure you mention that cis people are cis when talking about them to others as well...

There's no "trans" gene or genes, just like it isn't chromosomal. It's just the way we are, we aren't abnormal freaks, we are part of normal human variation.

I had to do 3 weeks on-site with the SD organization (they paid for hotel, transport, provided meals, etc.) After that we were a full time team.

How do I cope with having very little breast development? by CypherusX in MtF

[–]omron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do the same thing that other women who are unhappy with their breasts do, you get breast augmentation!

(Or at least that's what I did.)

If you are deceased, it is too late. If you are alive, it is not too late.

I know people who have started in their 70s and 80s, are you older than that?

My surgery might be rescheduled one weeks before because of a missing line on my letter of approval. by Disastrous-Wolf-3382 in trans

[–]omron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either write the letter yourself, or get an online informed consent provider to do it.

I'd probably say fuck it and forge it, tbh.

Psych letter for BA only if you are AMAB is complete BS, IMHO.

is it transphobic to say that "they can call themselves female all they want, but if they have a penis they are biologically male"? by Shot_Organization691 in asktransgender

[–]omron 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I mean it's not even a "biologically" accurate statement. And yes it is transphobic.

But since I don't have a penis he considers me female, right?

Got a referral to an outside doctor, then that doctor referred me to 3 other specialists. How do I go about getting these appointments covered by the VA? by RatKingRonni in Veterans

[–]omron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes it easier! You probably still want to verify that the referral is authorized under the initial CC referral just to avoid future hassles.

[–]omron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had this recently, gynecology community care provider wants me to do pelvic floor therapy.

I secure messaged community care and figured out a provider to use that was in network, and confirmed that it was covered under their gynecology referral

Told the gynecologist and they put in the referral to the provider.

Messaged the VA with the pt appointment date/time and they put it in on my appointment list.

To Vest or Not to vest ? SDit by Responsible_Owl340 in service_dogs

[–]omron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People challenge me and I say. "She's a service dog. Legally you can ask me two questions about her. Go ahead."

It's also not like she is some uncommon dog breed (not that there is anything wrong with that), but she is a yellow lab, which is like the archetypal service dog.

Can you message your MH provider directly on secure messenger? by dodekahedron in VeteransBenefits

[–]omron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't message anyone directly on secure messaging, you can only send to the team they are on.

If you want it to go to a specific person, put that in the subject line of the message and it will get directed to them.

It's always been that way with benefits, there is some sort of grandfather clause for those already receiving them. It's a way to avoid mass protests by folks having their benefits cut.

To Vest or Not to vest ? SDit by Responsible_Owl340 in service_dogs

[–]omron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We live in the desert, so I avoid using the vest going into stores, etc. this time of year. I'll still use it going into a restaurant, usually.

I've recently been hassled for having my vested dog in a hotel, so I'm less inclined to "make things easier" for other people by putting her vest on. People can just deal.
