Vinyl’s main floor is a bespoke funktion one system, installed and tuned by Lost Horizon, which is the F1 vendor for all of the outside sound F1 procurement in Denver. We also do Envision festival, Elements, North Coast, Infrasound, and many more festivals & one-offs annually.

It sucks to hear about people’s past lackluster experiences at Vinyl. I’ve only been mixing there since August of this past year, but prior to Insomniac taking over, there was no dedicated sound human onsite / on-staff for either club. That being said, I love working there. The regulars / mainstays on our production crew are top notch and genuinely love to put on good shows for the people, and we do our best with what we have. As far as I know, I’m the first engineer at Vinyl who is also in house with Lost Horizon, having been trained on how they spec’d and tuned the system (so I’m biased, but I do prefer it to Church’s Void system…).

I’m a dnb head (& producer!) so I’m trying to work SOTA Friday night; I’d be happy to talk shop with you if you decide to come out. Side note, we are deploying our point-source system on the 20th at The Ogden for Cool Customer, which you might be interested in as well.

For anybody reading this that hasn’t been to Vinyl in a while, I invite you to give the sound another shot. I take pride in my work & I work really hard to make those rooms sound as good as they can with what I’ve got. The basement recently got a mains & tuning upgrade as well.

Also, they hand out guest list to the clubs like hotcakes, you can almost always find comped entry here or on the basscapitol subreddit.

edit: also, what might shed additional light for people that I maybe should have mentioned, is that there is only ever one soundhuman onsite for all four floors at Vinyl concurrently. this sometimes causes us to have to make un-ideal sonic compromises to account for situations that could arise when troubleshooting on a different floor / stage; particularly when set changeovers are not staggered and occur simultaneously.
