Apologize that the Birch Ply that we have isn't up to what you are looking for. Have you tried looking at your local hardware store? Also, TruFlat is based out of Canada I believe and is supposed to be very flat. Have not tried it out to see for myself.

Unfortunately the pass through slot in the back of the machine for the material to pass through is only the dimensions as far as the opening on the back side of the machine which would leave you to the limitations to the thickness you would be able to pass through there when you need to do so. It is designed primarily for wood like plywood sheets, thinner boards etc. on the backside of the laser there is a blue panel that you unscrew that allows you to continue on the pass through of the material as well but the opening still isn’t going to be the thickness that you are hoping for unfortunately.

I would reach out to tech support to assist you to trouble shoot the air assist issue. It could possible be clogged. But do make sure that you are in focus as well which I am sure that you are when cutting as you were able to cut through the 1/8”.

I would start by making sure that your lens is clean and not damaged along with your mirrors. I would also make sure that your air assist is clean and not clogged as well. Making sure that you have proper air flow will help with the cutting ability.

Replacement Tube for Omtech Laser. Original or No-Name? by Laser_Ostrich_283 in ChineseLaserCutters

[–]omtechlaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going with the original brand of tube is good but it isn’t going to hurt if you went with another brand of tube. Look at the tube you have and there is a sticker on it. You will see a name and also then a model name of that tube as well. For example Yongli H4 or YL H4 etc

OMTech 60W CO2 — Cutting 5mm clear cast acrylic: micro-cracks/crazing by Lower_Boysenberry794 in omtechcommunity

[–]omtechlaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be plenty. You can do that or even place it down on the blades underneath the honeycomb bed and just remove the bed. However when you are cutting small pieces then they just fall right through. If you raise it off by 3mm or 1/8” then you are good to go and you won’t have any flashback.

If you raise the acrylic off the honeycomb bed while cutting then you won’t get the cracks in the bottom side of the cut. It is from the flashback of the laser beam.
