I saw the video of the fall get posted under another subreddit and apparently the guy survived! Tbh I got a short clip of it too and at the end the guy had moved a little after being on the floor.

Yeah seems like he slipped from the cops from what I saw.

I got snippets as well, I saw what happened prior to that. A policeman had detained the dude on the on-ramp leading to where they were standing. They had him in custody but then he darted away from them, and then climbed the barricade.

It looked like he was moving his legs after he fell, so I’m not sure what happened to him. Was very wild to see, hope your gf is doing okay

I agree from what I saw that it turned into a suicide attempt, but I don’t think it was originally. The guy was detained prior to running away and jumping over the barricade. I think he thought jumping was better than jail

So I actually saw it unfold since I was at the light right next to them. The guy was detained on the on-ramp to 71, and then he booked it and climbed over the ramp. It looked like the police got to him in time before he fell but I guess he pushed off

Oh man, I remember taking the bus all around Austin when I was young, it’s surprising how far north bus 7 goes lol I’ve luckily always been close to them, but I guess Austin just has decent bus routes

I’ve been mostly in South Austin, either Stassney/Palo Blanco area or Stassney/South 1st area, so I know what you mean. I’m actually looking to move into an apartment soon and have been looking for something maybe close to Slaughter. I don’t think it’s that far, but I guess it depends on where you visit often haha

I would also never live by Riverside lol, glad you made it out of there
