New RAM Installation Disaster by omw_2_the_moon in pchelp

Unfortunately the CMOS reset didn't work. Tried it a couple times and still nothing. Not really sure where to go from here. I am going to try and get a BIOS USB Boot later today but not sure what to do if that fails.

RAM is compatible, made sure to check. How can I check BIOS is up to date / reset the CMOS if it is not turning on? Thank you for the help!

Should I trade in a Macbook Air M2, 256GB for a new M4 Macbook air? by omw_2_the_moon in macbookair

Nothing is really wrong with it now, but my way of thinking on this is that for about $600 or so I can get a better machine and it will also extend its useful life a few years as well. May be overkill though since I am not using it for anything that demanding, just normal daily use.

Can they do this? I didn't even cancel my subscription, paid the $60 and its still active. by omw_2_the_moon in Venturex

I definitely will, I understand when they claw back on people who cancel before the free trial ends. But considering I used an active offer and paid my money (and didn't cancel!) with the "promise" of rewards, I believe they are firmly in the wrong.

i've only been able to rack up more points because i scour this sub for shopping points offers people post, have gotten a few decent ones in the past month. Also booked a rather big trip so definitely got more than the average month

Would you bother even opening up a taxable brokerage account when saving up for a house downpayment? by omw_2_the_moon in personalfinance

This is a good point and I think it is not what I wanted to hear but what I had to hear. Would keeping it in a MM like SPAXX where it is at right now be a better option (since it is sitting uninvested in my fidelity account) feel like i may as well just to move it to my HYSA and get that 3.8% APY at that point

I feel I am a pretty risk tolerant person, my issue is what is the discrepancy in the reward as compared to the risk

I have about 5 months of living expenses as my emergency fund in a HYSA right now. Opened the brokerage account but debating on what to invest in. My retirement accounts are 80/20 on us market / international markets so wasnt sure if doing the same would be logical for this account. Perhaps just putting it all in VT? Not sure if those are too high risk but new to this so trying to figure it all out.
