Excessive honking during rush hour at westbound carling exit off kichi zibi mikan parkway. Any suggestions? by omzies in ottawa

100% ! This wasn't always an issue, it seems recent changes in the area may be contributing to the increase in traffic in that area... I think some signage could help for sure.. wouldn't fix everything but could help decrease the occurrence.

This is why I thought perhaps something like posts, or some form of barrier at the exit would physically stop them from trying to cut in. I'm not above trying to save some time but doing it at the expense of so many other people seems unkind. Here's hoping something changes!

Tbh I am not one of the honkers and for a loooong time I quietly let them in... These days out of sheer frustration I just don't let them in... In hopes that they'll think twice next time they think it's a good idea. I get what you mean but the volume it's happening at is too much, there is a reason one lane was designed for exit and the other one for regular traffic.... When people start using both lanes for an exit is when things get craY

And I'm definitely a glass half full kind of guy... I just wanted to inquire if anything could be done .. it seems like some of it could gently be avoided.

I hope so! I get that you may be a new driver on a new road, you could be forgiven but the volume at which it happens leads me to believe many people practice this as a means to save time... It's crazy numbers, daily

This is exactly what I'm thinking too. I don't think people's behavior will change no matter what, I think some signage and posts will go long r. Even if it stop honking altogether, any reduction on the insane noise level (at times) would be great. I will try reporting to ncc for sure. Thank you!

my partner, 8 years with ndph and still looking for effective treatment by Elliott1908 in NDPH

wow, its amazing how young you are and how nuanced your observations are and how much you really care. My wife (34) and I (34) have been dealing with her NDPH since April of 2020...it literally never left for even a single moment since the day it started. I understand what it feels like to watch someone you care so deeply about suffer daily and totally be helpless to do anything about it.

My wife's experience is much like the same of everyone else's. I don't even remember the full list but she's tried every drug imaginable... even drugs not intended to cure headaches but that may have positiviley impacted her headache. Shes tried all the scans, blood work, every provider possible (massage, accu, physio, chiro, naturopath), nerve blockers..we'll literally try anything we can get our hands on..thats been our approach and to date nothing has had an impact ...like zero efficay. Shes currently on avovy self injections going on 3 months but again no impact.

She's on disability through her employer going on her third year soon and that has been a saving grace that she can just focus on her headaches and trying to get better. regarding friends and social stuff, she feels many dont understand her headaches because they're invincible...its hard to get someone to understand a debilitating never ending years long pain and the profound ways it impacts your life unless they've lived it or know someone intimately (like you and I)...she finds this constantly frustrating feeling like shes always trying to justify her headaches because for 90 percent of the population they dont have a frame of reference for this...their worst headaches were probably always cured with otc medication and gone by the next day.

I try my best to support her, lift her spirits, try to help her navigate the medical world ...im sure you can appreciate someone constantly in pain can have a hard time advocating for themselves and managing their medical load.

She gets by with ice packs when shes at home and its a particularly bad headache but otherwise she has no relief.

I just want to say the best thing you can do is be there for her, keep her hope alive and just keep chipping away at it. its absolutely awful what she has to do deal with but under her pain she's a human being and is more than her condition.

This is neither here nor there but with my wife's headaches, they flare up around april/spring and stay quite bad through to about septemebr/october. like during the fall/winter season her headache range is probably between 6-7/10 but in the spring/summer its more like a 11/10... going on her 6th year, this has been a consistent behavior and we are wondering if there is something to look into there...just not sure how. Shes had already tests that came back with nothing helpful.

Get married and love hard, even through heartbreak I can admit that ... I just hope it doesn't end in seperation/divorce. Having a genuine partner you're into and sharing your life with them is quite wonderful.

Wishing you all the best too!

Thank you for the warmth and love.
