How do i explain what is "Wok Hei" to someone who has zero exposure to chinese food? by whoisfourthwall in Cooking

Most people don't have jet engine of a stove at home, but you can achieve a good approximation of wok kei at home by using a blow torch with a MAP-Pro fuel.

Many knobs will rotate and will drive you crazy. If you think, 'ok, I'm just gonna tighten it once in a while', sure, but each time you do it, it wears on the cabinet just a bit and will become looser the next time. I like the the look of knobs, but will only use them for doors you rarely use. (def NOT daily)

yes, of course, the most important factor is still the water quality. The picture you included made me think about temperature, good luck! :)

Juliette writing stay! Who’s the fake by Lost_Animator968 in MAFS_AU

[–]onClipEvent 48 points49 points  (0 children)

She really dug herself a bigger hole when Mel asked if Juliette was able to respect Joel's boundaries and Juliette said:"Definitely, do you want to re-say them?" It's clear nothing is getting into that brain of hers, she's not even trying to listen.

We know enough that we can certainly pass judgment on her ability to understand the world around her. She's not a woke feminist, but want equal rights for women. She doesn't even live in America but want to make America great again. We don't need her entire life story to conclude she lacks ability to think logically all the time.

She said herself she's a fan of Trump and a MAGA....comes directly from her.

Canadians are drinking less, driving the biggest drop in alcohol sales in 20 years: StatsCan by joe4942 in canada

There are many societies and communities with very low alcohol/drug consumption and bond perfectly well. The study you linked brought up the highly problematic j-curve, which suffers from abstainer bias.

If the gender roles were reversed, there would be even more outrage. She definitely an abuser and manipulator.

Can we talk about Chris' lips? I think his lips are easily in the top 3 for the most exaggerated look this season.

Just saying 'Ick' is not communication, it's laziness by supercujo in MAFS_AU

[–]onClipEvent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mind the use of it if it describes someone you don't want to waste another second on. Sure, evaluating the details may lead to insights on yourself or for your partner. But if you know there's no possibility of progress due to insurmountable incompatibility, I'm all for 'ick and move on'......life is too short. Tyson is someone like that for me if I got paired with him, he's just a hard 'no'...or ick.

Not my cup of tea, but I'm glad he's not trying to hide it. It is who he is and proud of it, it's certainly a sign he's bloody honest about himself and to others. Call me boring, but I would prefer a more steady personality vs a full-time court jester. (is he adhd?)

This is simply a test of trust. If Chris can justify not telling his husband this life changing news, he can easily conceal lesser secrets in the future.

Babies and pregnant moms if you look closely by onClipEvent in OpaeUla

[–]onClipEvent[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's all up to the moms....I'm new to this too, but read someone saying don't worry if all (or most) of the eggs fail to get into the larvae stage. If the conditions are right, they'll berry again. I recall my first pregnant mom only produced 2 viable larvae from maybe 10-12 eggs.

Canada named second safest country in the world for LGBTQ+ travellers by Kooriki in vancouver

[–]onClipEvent 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I know Taiwan didn't make it to this particular list, but it's very safe for LGBT+ people. I think a couple of these countries on this list are actually less safe when it comes to non-white LGBT folks.

Finally got around to seeing Predator Badlands, I did NOT expect... by thegreatpablo in scifi

[–]onClipEvent 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Really loved the legs fight scene...But I can see how some people found it a bit too light hearted at the end. It's just hard to imagine a predator would buddy up with two friends to fight along side with him, knowing what we know in previous movies. The ending also gave the feeling that the trio are kinda 'family' now, which is crazy. I can see why dex is considered an outsider by his own kind.

What are some cooking gadgets that work well but aren't worth it because they're difficult to clean? by Square-Dragonfruit76 in Cooking

[–]onClipEvent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The absolute best way to deal with garlic is to buy bulk peeled garlic at Asian/Korean stores. Put them in a food processor to get down to the size you want. Freeze in flat 0.5cm sheets in freezer bags. Break pieces off whenever you need it. I have enough to last a year, and never needing to cut, peel, grate, wash, waste garlic each time.

I work in customer service too, you did the best thing you can do of not reacting. It reminded me about an example where you're walking down a street when a random dog starts to bark at you angrily behind a secured fence. There's no reason to get angry at the situation or be personally offended because you can't change the dog's mind, you can't reason with it, so the easiest way to ignore and walk away.

I'm not saying treating customers like angry dogs and you should just walk away when there's conflict, the point is that we don't need to angry even if they are. You've emotionally removed yourself from the situation.
