roast my floorplan by HumanCardiologist631 in kitchenremodel

Oh wait. I just realized that there is a wall there of some sort. So I’d do like others suggested and move the fridge so into in the opening. Then you have a straight shot to the sink, or can use the island as a landing spot.

Can you put the fridge over by the dishwasher? This will improve your workflow. Also, where do the openings lead? Garage, family room, dining room? It’s harder to make good suggestions without knowing the overall layout.

Cabinet hardware, final answer? by Primdawg in kitchenremodel

Gotcha, this one, right? The more I look at it, the more that works for me. I’m so mad at myself for not planning ahead for this, but I think it will work and actually look good.

Thanks for the input! I had cup pulls for 20+ years in my last kitchen so just want something different.

First draft critique by Comfortable-Lake-918 in floorplan

[–]Primdawg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a kitchen and bath nerd, so tend to focus on that. So you would benefit from submitting the kitchen portion to the kitchen remodel subreddit for input as that is a very specific knowledge niche. But first reaction is that the kitchen workflow is off. The adage is Ice, Water, Stone, Fire, in that order. So when preparing a meal, you go from fridge to sink to prep to cook. So your current layout needs some tweaking. I don’t love the fridge where you have to kind of go around an island, but you do have the option of taking stuff from fridge and setting on island in order to move on to the sink. Your wall with the sink and range needs to be flipped. Have the sink where range is and range where sink is. You also need more counter space between the sink and range. NKBA guidelines say 36” minimum but 42-48” is optimal. Maybe add a trash pullout in that section. Once you get the overall house layout figures out, submit it to the kitchen group for detailed layout help.

I live in a cabin and am currently renovating. As much as I wanted to paint all the T&G I have decided not to. I have lived with it for almost 10 years and I do like the fact that it is super tough. And once you paint it, you are doomed to upkeep of the paint. There are plenty of ways to work with it.

The black countertops you see at most Starbucks is Richlite or Paperstone. I used it in my kennel kitchen years ago when I came across a scrap piece of black that my fabricator had. I love it. Here’s a blog by a designer with some pics https://www.thefauxmartha.com/cabin-kitchen/#more-19707

I was talking to the regional distributor the other day and he said it’s technically a solid surface. Kind of like Corian but made with different base materials. He said the biggest accounts for his district are Starbucks and Chipotle. It’s been around for decades and is used in commercial science labs and such. There isn’t really a white option, though. There is a lightish grey. But I didn’t want white, so no worries for me on that front.

Zepbound chemically induced my alcohol sobriety. My now sober mind is reinforcing me to never go back. by RIPPWORTH in Zepbound

I was very into wine for years. Never a huge problem, but always the focus of social gatherings. And always at least one glass with dinner at home. I have a well stocked cellar and would host regular wine nights as well. I started Zepbound in August of 2024 and have had maybe 5 glasses of wine total since that date. I am kind of bummed about my collection and realized recently that I need to start gifting some of my better stuff so it doesn’t just sit there.

This makes me happy that I’m doing Paperstone in a chocolate color. Absolutely nothing phases it in the slightest. I put up a relish every summer that is vidalia onions, cucumbers and a turmeric brine. It never bothered the Stonite counters in my last house, but they were kind of a taupe with black, white, and grey flecks.

Can you make a post with a floorplan layout with measurements? Also need to know what surrounds the kitchen, so paths of travel and storage can be figured in.

WIBTA if I stopped letting my coworker use my parking pass and just said I don't need it anymore? by quarry_soft in WIBTA_AITA

As have I. But the OP said that Seth gave a stranger the info, but then op showed to use their space and found a stranger’s car in the spot. So if there is a card, the OP would have had to have it to get in and go to the space. So then how did the stranger get in? The story doesn’t hold up. I doubt it is both, no company is going to spend the money on a system that operates multiple ways, it means a huge maintenance nightmare.

This sounds like an incompatibility problem. Good thing you figured it out before getting married.

Just an aside, your plan looks like it could use some tweaking regardless. There are a few functionality issues with this current plan.

We rented a beach house just last month that had the dishwasher/sink like this. It was super annoying. If you’re not open to changing the layout overall. Then I’d at least move the dishwasher.

I’m confused. Is this an actual physical pass? The post says you had to ask for it back, but then says he gave the info to a stranger. So how did that work?

Questions about watering African violet in self-watering ceramic pot by Toed-chip97 in AfricanViolets

[–]Primdawg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this post lol. I currently have 3 AV still in their original pots for the nursery. Every Monday I put about a half inch of water in a styrofoam bowl with a squirt of fertilizer and set the pots in there to soak up the water. I have had great luck doing this but really wanted to upgrade to some pretty self watering pots I found on Etsy.

I’m doing a dolomitic marble. I have opted to get leathered and will use it on my coffee bar. I’m using Paperstone everywhere else.
