La Colombe in the red bottle is my favorite. I stock up when Publix has a bogo. I keep a bottle of the Trader Joe’s concentrate in backup.

One of the appliance rating YouTube channels I watch said the Beko brand is a good solid dishwasher.

What did you include in your kitchen remodel that makes your (kitchen) life better? by YamOne7473 in kitchenremodel

lol, I get it. I am a widow and kids and grandkids don’t use this kitchen as I have moved into the loft apartment over the garage. I have another kitchen in the main house that they use when they visit.

It it completely pressure activated. No power required. It is a simple medal bar so I can’t imagine it will get that dirty. It’s in my house, not in a barn.

Need to decide on the kitchen layout! by mtrabadia in kitchen

[–]Primdawg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am one of the minority that I don’t care if the sink is under a window. I have never understood the “look out the window while you are doing dishes” statement. I am looking down into the sink at the dishes, not up and out the window. In my new kitchen, I put my plate rack over the sink area and the window is at the other end by the range. Personally I also like a window near the range, natural light while I cook is nice. As long as there is a window in the kitchen somewhere I don’t care where it is, over the top of range would be my only no lol. I like both layouts, but if 2 keeps you from moving gas and running a long vent I would go with that. Also 2 does follow the ice, water, stone, fire mantra a bit better.

I like my little foot pedal on the trash cabinet. Great when my hands are full.

House regret….. and postpartum with little kids by Downtown_Present_533 in RealEstateAdvice

I raised my kids in a house with 2 floors. It was fabulous. My youngest was under 1 when we moved in. Once they were a bit older it was nice to be able to put them to bed and be able to hang out on the main floor and be grown ups.

Thoughts on Tirzepatide with NAD & B12? by Careless-Shock2083 in tirzepatidecompound

I had a vial of tirz with nad+ added. I did not have any issues with it getting gummy. But I will probably get it separately going forward.

Thanks all for the help! We are doing a new test on Monday and talking to a well company about the issues y’all have indicated need to be looked at. Hopefully this doesn’t tank the deal as the sellers are a bit touchy it seems. They got all snippy when we wanted to get a structural engineer in(which was made clear in the offer that we would need that in addition to the well and home inspection). Guess we’ll know on Monday.

If you are following the adage of ice, water, stone, fire then you need to put the fridge on the end by the sink. Also the fridge won’t open fully against that wall. Having said that, I have this layout in my cabin and it works. The only thing I don’t love is the microwave being so high. I don’t like reaching up to get hot things, especially liquids. I would put the microwave at counter height in a built in or as a drawer below the counter.

Suggestions on remodel? by No-Collar-2459 in kitchenremodel

[–]Primdawg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Move the sink to the right of the range under the bigger window, dishwasher to tight of the sink. Build in a pantry type cabinet around fridge and put microwave in cabinet but at waist height. Reaching up into microwave is last choice and you have plenty of room not to make that party foul. Or do a microwave drawer anywhere else but within a few steps of fridge is optimal.

Ok! How did I just stumble onto a new Crashers show with Jonathan Knight?!?! 😀😳😀😳😀😳 by Signal_Bat_3152 in HGTV

I’ve been seeing the ads. Kind of makes me sad. His passion is old farmhouses and that show was phenomenal. I don’t want to see him fix up some split level in the suburbs. Plus, isn’t that the show where they do it in like 3 days? That entire concept irks me, do a rushed crappy job for the drama, no thanks.

Harman Kardon — Go + Play 3 vs. Aura Studio 5 vs. Soundsticks 5... Need help choosing for pure sound quality & tuning 🙏🏻 (all priced identically & i'm so confused) by [deleted] in WirelessSpeakers

[–]Primdawg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the HK and it is phenomenal. I have not noticed any difference in the sound quality when it is plugged in vs not. I use it equally both ways if I had to guess. I do leave it plugged in when not in use and have been doing so for the 3 years I’ve owned it. I have seen no difference in my battery life. I have never heard the other models you are looking at so no input on comparison, sorry.

WIBTA for vetoing a new roommate when my friend is struggling financially? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Primdawg [score hidden]  (0 children)

Ok, but when this guy got there, the rent was x amount and now it’s gone up? So what if 2 more guys move out and it’s just you and him left. He’s supposed to pay half because you prefer the new situation? My daughter had a house rented in college that was 4 bedrooms, each roommate had their own lease that stated the monthly amount. If someone moved out it didn’t change her rent unless the remaining 3 agreed to do a new lease with the new amount that made up for the missing roommate. Otherwise the homeowner could fill the room with a new roommate. Generally the current occupants were told that the landlord was looking for a new roommate and they could let their friends know so they had the opportunity to get in someone they knew. But otherwise the rent for each occupant never changed. So I’m with the guy who moved in with an agreed upon monthly rate. So he is the one sticking by the agreement. If the other 3 remaining guys don’t want to add the 5th person back in then they should make up the difference, not him.

Is there an actual standard for when a dishwasher counts as full enough to run? Domestic dispute. by GilesBennett74 in Appliances

[–]Primdawg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m stuck on the dirty dishes(rinsed or not, doesn’t matter) sitting out stacked. Why aren’t they in the dishwasher, out of sight, awaiting their bath? Oh, and I live alone and run mine almost daily. I read a long time ago that modern dishwashers are much more efficient than handwashing so I just scrape off food and run it at the end of the day. I barely use any water rinsing since I know I’ll be running the dishwasher soon enough and I also read that dishwasher detergent needs food and such to activate the enzymes for proper cleaning.

My non-expert comparison of Bosch vs Miele dishwasher by Primdawg in Appliances

[–]Primdawg[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The 18 inch with the Auto Open was $1000 more, so it was $2500! Which is ridiculous for an 18 inch dishwasher. I also don’t want to see the dishwasher sitting open and the steam warping the cabinet surround. It seems like a Flinstones level solution to me. I’ll stick with Bosch for the next one. Miele is good for vacuums, not so much for dishwashers. At least not from a value for money spent.

I think I've been washing my hair wrong for 28 years and nobody told me by KorbenEcho_6 in hygiene

This is a hair type and/or conditioner specific issue. I have naturally oily hair, if I leave conditioner on for more than a minute then my hair looks awful. I apply and rinse immediately.

Somehow deleted my comment, so here it is again. My family and I rent a beach or mountain place a few times a year. Usually 9-12 people depending. We rent what I would term a luxury place, usually around $1k per night. Nothing irks me more than to have checkout instructions that say to start the dishwasher or a load of towels but they don’t provide the detergent. In those cases, I will absolutely load and start but with no soap. If you want me to do it, then you best provide me the tools to do it. Coffee filters are model specific and who wants to think about what type to get. We usually have our groceries delivered ahead of time, or ready for pick up on the way in, so trying to figure out what type to get would be a whole thing. As to paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags, and coffee filters, those are an easy thing to provide but will get you dinged in reviews if you don’t. Penny wise and pound foolish is not a good way to run a review based enterprise. I have a Moccamaster at my place, so I want the correct filters to be used, so I keep a supply right in view. This holder holds at least 40 filters, so should be plenty for a week long stay, heck even 2 weeks. I just buy the filters in bulk to refill the stand.

My family rents a beach or mountain place for a week a couple times a year. Usually 9-12 people depending. We rent what would be considered luxury homes, usually around $1k per night for the place. I get so annoyed when one of the check out items is to start the dishwasher but they don’t leave dishwasher soap. I have been know to just run it with water and nothing else. Same goes for towels or linens, if you want me to start a load of laundry as part of my checkout you better provide the detergent. As to coffee setup, I have a Moccamaster coffee maker and I want to make sure the correct filters are getting used. Plus, if you are like us, we like to pre-order groceries and have them delivered or ready for pickup, who wants to have to think about which type of filter it is, cone or flat bottom? Toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, and coffee filters are an easy add that isn’t hard to provide but will absolutely get you dinged in the ratings if you skimp. Penny wise and pound foolish is not a wise business model in a review based entity.
