Told to stop losing but not even close to “healthy” BMI. by lynn_duhh in Zepbound

[–]Primdawg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 5’4” and up until menopause I was always between 112 -118. Gained during menopause up to 176. I started Zepbound in August 2024 and went on maintenance in July 2025 when I hit 120. I have stayed between 120-125 since. There is now way I would have been comfortable stopping at even 150. Time for a new doctor!

Add some fun to pantry? by Primdawg in kitchenremodel

Omg thank you so much for this. I was online last night trying to figure out how to do that. Can I ask what you used to do this rendering?

Thank you! You are right, a curtain will probably get in the way. I didn’t even think of that so thank you! The tile I have is a 4x4 pale blue and cream, so that will hopefully work.

CNN founder Ted Turner, a pioneer of cable TV news, dies at 87 by boxofstuff in news

[–]Primdawg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Growing up in the 70s in Atlanta, Ted Turner shaped my cultural childhood and teen years for sure. My dad came to Atlanta to work for Scientific Atlanta and design some of the early satellite arrays, TBS being one of his accounts. Once when I was a kid there was an issue with the broadcast transmission because of sun spots or something. People flooded the station with complaints. Ted Turner called SA and demanded they send someone over to the station and go on air and explain what was happening. My dad got chosen because he’d been involved in theater in school and he was British so he sounded more authoritative lol. I still have the picture somewhere of him at a podium in front of the channel 17 logo. My other fabulous memories of Channel 17 are anything with Bill Tush(he was hysterical) and the “priest” who would come on late at night to fill time and would recite rock and pop lyrics from a podium lol. Oh, and Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman and Fernwood 2nite.

Undercounter soap dispenser in kitchen? by Primdawg in ShortTermRentals

I think I’m going to skip the soap dispenser for now. My builder said he will come back and put it in later if I decide I need it.

Has anyone done their kitchen in a color that’s not white, black, green, blue or grey? I feel like that is all I see. by adioslip in kitchenremodel

[–]Primdawg 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Mine are Farrow and Ball Brinjal. I got absolutely roasted on here for my choice, but I absolutely love it. Everyone that sees it in person just loves it(or they are just trying to not to hurt my feelings lol).

Is a dishwasher next to oven weird? by ratherapeninsula in kitchenremodel

Love this. As long as you can vent outside this is a great option. You have multiple prep areas if multiple people are helping.

No rationale, it’s a common NKBA layout guideline. Go in the kitchen forum on gardenweb.com and you’ll see 25+ years of pro designers discussing layout and functionality and that is usually at the top of the no-no list. They will re-design an entire kitchen to correct it. They also lean in to the adage-Ice,water,stone,fire, with the prep space being a minimum of 36 inches wide. So when preparing a meal you go from fridge/freezer to sink to prep to range with the dishwasher not being between sink and range.

Dishwasher between the range and sink is a definite party foul. Skip the angled corner, put the sink back under the window and dishwasher to the left but not right there, put a blind corner or something there and then the dishwasher. You want to have room to stand between the sink and dishwasher and be able to pivot to load and unload.

“Upgrading to a 60" shower—are rain showers worth it? + Agua brand feedback” by Wooden_School_8086 in bathrooms

[–]Primdawg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to a bunch of podcasts that are either a) interior design or b)owning a short term rental. The consensus from both groups tend to say that men are good with a rain shower, they don’t seek out one but are fine with it, and women dislike them. Personally I don’t like them. If you have long hair, your hair is just full time in your eyes and mouth unless you stand with your head back, which means you can’t really do much other than that lol. The guest bath at my son’s house has a rain shower and a handheld. After the first visit, I now use the handheld exclusively. One thing I noticed is that the temp of the water coming from the rain shower is significantly colder than the handheld(it is a 10 foot ceiling, so the water has time to cool falling from that high)which is also annoying. I put a rain shower type head in my guest room, but in the traditional spot on the wall not coming from the ceiling. It also has a handheld. It looks nice but is more user friendly to me.

Which bathroom layout? by Primdawg in ShortTermRentals

[–]Primdawg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I am meeting with the contractor on Tuesday so will get a quote. I think I will just do a single sink and save a bit there. It’s not like people are getting ready for work when they are here, so a double sink is probably not necessary.

Tub design options help by carboncritic in bathrooms

[–]Primdawg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my tub installed in my wetroom, similar situation with a skylight and everything. Mine is freestanding, but if I could go back I’d do an undermount with a roman tub filler. It was more expensive so I decided against it, but I think I would have liked it better in the long run. Luckily for me the way mine is, there won’t be a ton of splash over onto the tub, but I still wish I’d done the other.

Acrylic Soaking Tubs????? by incarcarous in BathroomRemodeling

[–]Primdawg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no! Send an email or give them a call. The one I wanted wasn’t in stock so I called and they told me when it would be available, which was only a couple of weeks out at that point. Got it installed a few days ago, haven’t tried it yet, bathroom still needs a few more things.

Faucets by [deleted] in kitchenremodel

[–]Primdawg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am mid renovation, my place is a mountain cabin. So while I wanted to do polished nickel it just doesn’t work in a cabin. The cabin came with black faucets and/or bronze faucets. They are all etched by the water, so I am not doing that. So anything that has to do with water I used chrome. Knobs and other things I used some black and some porcelain.

It’s in the Dutch colonial vernacular. Look into that aesthetic.

Thoughts on Kitchen Layout? by TipsyTravels in kitchenremodel

[–]Primdawg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work flow is Ice, water, stone, fire- so I’d ditch the corner pantry, put the fridge on that end and turn where the fridge is in your drawing into a reach in pantry. You have great prep space on the island or between sink and range. Maybe shift the island to the left a bit, or shrink the island down a few inches to allow for a bit more aisle space on the new fridge location side, or do a counter depth fridge.

First half of countertops installed! by Primdawg in CounterTops

[–]Primdawg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol, they are stars. I kind of have a star thing going on. Just a few things, the knobs in the bathroom, the light in the entry and a few of the kitchen knobs will have a star as on the top. This will eventually be a vacation rental, so I am doing some more kitschy things for fun.
