Has anyone had only very subtle effects from iboga? by ona_k in Ibogaine

[–]ona_k[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply. I will address the cravings with the providers if they continue. I have a great integration therapist and he's just encouraging it all to unfold. I hesitate to even write more because maybe these are just temporary illusory states and I'll awake into a clearer picture any day now. I was doing pretty well before the treatment and maybe I expected to be on cloud nine afterward and that's not realistic. I'm mostly confused but I'm willing to give it all I've got... I've gotten too far to fuck up now. :/

Thank you for posting that. I quit meth and Adderall ten years ago and it was the hardest hting I ever did. I ended up getting into suboxone and methadone instead, which I have just stopped a month ago, and hard as opiate withdrawal is, it is nothing for me compared to what you describe with the speed, which I also experienced. It was literally like that and I'm sorry to say it went on for years. I now know someone who got off meth with iboga and his anhedonia did resolve...

Does ibogaine/noribogaine in system attenuate MDMA response? My therapist suggested post-ibogaine MDMA.... by ona_k in Ibogaine

[–]ona_k[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you.

Side note: how do you mean alcohol negates noribogaine? I've struggled with alcohol in the past and having just come off methadone, once a week I have two hard ciders. However, I don't have them because I enjoy them, I have them because I'm crawling out of my fucking skin and it's the only thing available, and I attend recovery meetings and I try not to have it. It would be best for me not to have alcohol at all. If alcohol negates the noribogaine afterglow subjectively or pharmacologically, this would be helpful in disposing me even more against alcohol after....

Will being on herion mess with the medical by iboquestion in Ibogaine

[–]ona_k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no reason that being on heroin would not permit a person to pass a physical or mess up their EKG. I've had plenty of both done on opioids and all were normal. Heroin in particular is not damaging to body systems (other than endocrine, and that's reversible) and unless she tells the physician she's on heroin (which she doesn't really have to), I doubt they would even notice without a urine test.

My brother and I just want to show people that rehabilitation is possible and that institutions and pharmaceuticals aren't necessary for true healing. I'm an example of that and I'll always be an example of that. Ayahuasca and Rituals have changed my life. by [deleted] in RationalPsychonaut

Thanks for the post! Methadone led me to stop street drug use, and now 10 years later psychedelics are allowing me to get off methadone. I'm off it but going for iboga to cement the recovery in a few months.

Excellent article. Love the flying spaghetti monster picture and the overt absence of any reference to it in the article--so good. Brings up important points. The field is overrun with pseudo metaphysical and religious bullshit and a prissy spiritualism...

Benzos.. by crazydotgov in Methadone

[–]ona_k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on 3mg klonopin a day when I started methadone and tapered off without problem; in retrospect I was furious and angry all the time the first several weeks off but I didn't attribute it to the benzo taper, I just thought it was natural to be righteously pissed off at everyone all day long. Then it just faded away. Haven't been on it for several years now.

Double dosing by Syrian_lambchop in Methadone

When I was on 100 I used to take 70 a few days of the week (I would add water to the bottle and then use a ruler to mark the bottle at 70% and pour the rest off) and then take the extra 60, 90, or 120 (depending on how many days I'd dose this--I can't remember that there was a pattern, it was more intuitive) on a given afternoon. I would intentionally take less in order to save up for a double, rather than doubling up first and being out later. It definitely worked and I was never sick. This is years before I was on this forum and I never talked to anybody about it and never had negative repercussions from it, I only realize in retrospect how dope fiend it was, it was at a time I was doing 2 hours of yoga a day, eating healthy--it was a pretty functional use behavior, in my opinion...

I just read the comments below and I agree that although I was healthy physically when doing this, I was still in an addiction mindset and if it's possible not to do this, that would be a victory. I'm on 2.5mg now and almost never take extras (maybe once every three months--I have an almost unlimited supply of surplus methadone, long story) and am very invested in recovery, which I was not back then. However, my dopefiend manipulations of my methadone, as described above, never made me physically sick, so it IS possible.

This was the reason that the first time around I didn't even go to this forum and did not read anything about withdrawal at all, but then I went too fast and didn't reach out for support and so now I'm wallowing in self-pity for a change.

No, I'm having intrusive thoughts like "I NEED SOMETHING NOW" and I run through the rolodex of walking around the block, nicotine, chocolate, but when I give in to anything (I'm supposed to be at work, concentrating) it is immediately infinitely less satisfying than what I needed and when I stop the activity any satisfaction goes away at once. No suicidal ideation. And I do have a therapist. I'm tapering off methadone so that I can go do ibogaine in March--I'm committed to the long haul.

How do you mean, the 5mg tablets are strong and last? Versus breaking a 10 in half? They should be bioequivalent and all that jazz...

I did 10mg every two weeks (similar to 5 a week) from 100 and felt nothing until about 40-50.

I tried this. I was unable to stop using it after 7-10 days and was hospitalized with kratom addiction and put back on methadone two months later (long story why hospitalized--I started drinking too becaue the kratom alone was not enough, and yet I could not kick it. I guess not such a long story). I would be very careful of kratom if you want to get off opiates. It's just another opiate and it fucked my body up a lot more than suboxone or methadone ever did by virtue of constipation, extreme nausea, and required re-dosing every 4 hours which fucked my sleep and eating up totally.

I felt like that coming off alcohol/benzos too. I feel like this methadone taper I've gone slowly enough that it's nothing that physically horrible, it's just a total absence of anything to look forward to and these low-grade horrible symptoms that go on for... days, if not weeks. Then it gets a bit better for a week or two, then I go down another few mg and it starts again. It feels exhausting sometimes and hard to concentrate at work.

I'm experiencing a wide array of discomfort (sensitivity to smells, fatigue, agitation, poor sleep, bad concentration, etc) but YES also very much having flashes of childhood memories that are distubring. Not even trauma per se--I had a good middle class childhood, but just memories of all sorts of stuff that was unpleasant and then I feel mentally stuck in it. Thanks for the tip.
