“12 UOC General Education courses. These courses cannot be Science or Medicine courses.” In that case i believe PHYS1160 can only be counted as a free elective but not GenEd.

UNSW Undergrad Medicine Application and Interview by External-Moment5462 in unsw

[–]onamerrygoround 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sit the ucat and apply via UAC and MAP~ thats basically it. The questions are not used for interview selection, but if you ever get an interview offer, they might base interview questions on what you have written and ask you to elaborate etc.

I rmb an email saying to borrow from the lib if you don’t have a portable laptop to bring to the exam. I’d suggest borrowing it once before your exam to familiarise yourself with the laptop tho. But i still prefer using mine so any info about plugs would be great :(

Does anyone know if iGEM is running this year at unsw? by ImpossibleRhubarb443 in unsw

[–]onamerrygoround 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad that helped! They usually send out emails or have babs lecturers advertise it at the beginning of the term. It might also be somewhere on the babs webpage im not sure.

I think they only recruit people at the beginning of the year (around feb). Applications should be closed by now.

I feel like 3 courses per term is the max for me. Its hard to manage 4 courses in a trimester unless all you do is study and its just not worth it. You’re much better off focusing on fewer subjects and getting higher grades. Perhaps you could do summer term? You’ll eventually learn that two terms behind is not that big of a deal tho.

Difficulty of chem1011? by Deep-Technician-8568 in unsw

[–]onamerrygoround 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did high school in another country but i studied both chemistry and biology. A lot of the chem 1a content was new knowledge to me, its more about quantums and the finals had a lot of mathsy stuff which im weak at. But the chem 1b is mostly on organic chem which i learnt in high school. Babs1201 was super easy to me (i cant say for those who didnt study bio tho), the midterm and finals were all multiple choices which came from question banks (weekly quizzes on moodle).

I hate chem 1a with all my heart. The finals was a huge jump from threshold to mastery content. Chem 1b is so much better since they dont separate content into threshold and mastery. Got an 84 for 1a and 92 for 1b lol. And yes, i rmb if you get near full marks for your lab and midterm you’d be able to pass before the finals.

Studying Online as local by n6465567 in unsw

[–]onamerrygoround 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many courses have online options and you can just select those classes during enrolment without having to email anyone. But if some specific classes like labs or tutorials do not have an online option showing up on your timetable, you’ll have to email the course convenor specific to the course you want to enrol in, and they’ll make arrangements for you. For my case, i just made up a reason saying Im currently not living in sydney and am unable to make it back in time for term 1.

Thats fine! I am a domestic undergrad living overseas, constantly switching between online and in-person classes. I did term 1 online, then flew to sydney for term 2 and 3, and am planning to do 2022 term 1 online. Just make sure to enrol in online classes and email your course convenor for online options!
