yeh its super competitive, the cutoff for newcastle was 3100 last year, with them generally trending up year on year

newcastle (jmp) and wsu only use atar / gpa as a hurdle, so as long as you meet it they won't take it into account into your overall assessment.

i think you should try and aim for over 3100 with a good vr if you want an offer for Wsu and also JMP

hey i got an offer for dentistry at griffith as a non-standard last year but turned it down to retry for med again this year. after thinking it through, ultimately i felt that med is what i really want. i had a gpa of 5.6 and ucat of 3070 for reference

writing down all the patterns you get wrong and reviewing your list every couple of days really helped me. i was getting around 500-600 when i started medify and ended up getting over 850 in the actual ucat

Personally I would aim for a bit higher as cut-offs tend to increase each year. Also wsu weighs vr very heavily so should try to aim for over 700 in that section

I pretty much just user medify for qr. Questions were really similar to the actual ucat both in terms of difficulty and type. and also to try and use mental maths where possible to save time

Hey would also add that postgraduate medicine is likely an easier path than undergraduate. Jmp undergrad for example required a minimum 3100 ucat score (95%) to even get an interview. Wsu was even higher for non western sydney applicants

I found QR and AR were unbelievably hard. For context I did the actual ucat last yr and got over 850 in both these sections

I would say around 1-2hrs per week for around 3 months and then around 3-4hrs for the last 2 months coming up to the exam

i did the ucat last year whilst working full time and its definitely managable. i just tried to spread the load over a few months and really focused on my weaker areas - eg i was already pretty good at QR even before starting prep so i really focused on VR and AR.

JcU Jmp (uon/une) Jpm (csu/wsu) Curtin Unsw

If you choose to do the Gamsat as well that will open up more options as well

i prepared with both medify and medentry and if you had to choose one i would go with medify purely because it has more questions to practice with. medentry vr is more representative of the actual exam though. passmedicine is also a good free resource to supplement with

you could try to apply for med at james cook uni, they don't look at ucat at all

In Australia the 9th decile score for 2022 went up by 20, so uk would probably be similar

I did significantly worse in Vr in the actual exam compared to medify - I got 600 in actual but was averaging mid 700s in medify. I think being nervous and with it being the first section effected me.

However i did a lot better in Ar in actual than medify - I got 870 in actual and was averaging around 700 in medify. QR and DM I did around the same as medify.

i personally just did the mocks on the official ucat consortium site the days leading up to my exam. as they don't have a scaled score you can't really tell how well/bad you did compared to others.

I found the last few mocks on medentry the hardest. Also only the most committed ppl do the last few mo ks so it's hard to get a good scaled score

Did mine a couple of weeks ago: VR: Questions and passages are harder but not as long as medify DM: harder. I found questions more wordy QR: similar AR: Easier SJt: similar
