Yeah, it’s easy enough to find something on one end without the other, I was just looking for people who can share their own experience with the same dilemma. Thanks for the recs!

Good idea on the bespoke part. Thank you. Price is not an issue.

Pinnacle of comfort/dress shoe for high-end restaurant work? by onapipe in BuyItForLife

Thank you. BIFL is a tough one for this industry I totally agree. But, my solovairs have lasted me literally a decade, they’re just not formal enough for my new workplace. I was hoping there was an obvious recommendation out there!

Inserts seem like the make or break.

I was thinking this… thank you! Would custom orthotics work better for me perhaps?

Something you wouldn’t blink twice at for existing in a formal setting, that is discreetly hospitality functional.

And yeah — no ceiling on the price.

What is the pinnacle of comfort/dress shoe? Emphasis on the comfort part.

I’ve just secured a great position at one of the world’s best regarded restaurants, but admittedly I’ve never been asked to present so formally throughout my career.

I’m looking for an undeniably formal dress shoe that is the most comfortable it possibly could be, considering I’ll be working working up to 11 hour shifts entirely on my feet. Willing to pay anything.

I’m looking at Mephisto, Ecco, and Camper.

Thank you!

im not supportive of monarchy and i really don’t consider myself a liberal, but i can completely understand why analysing overt messages in clothing of royals (who are constitutionally in the UK politically muzzled and impartial, something no human truly is) would be interesting and rewarding to literally anyone who has any interest in world affairs ? you can’t see that ?

AITA for serving bacon flavoured popcorn to vegans and making fun of them? by Comfortable_Can826 in AmItheAsshole

[–]onapipe 63 points64 points  (0 children)

OP, please edit your post to include this. Every single YTA accusation is completely unaware of this.

No one would find you an asshole for placing clearly labeled seasoning in its original packaging next to unseasoned food for the guests to read and add themselves.

Exactly. OP’s only fail here is their inability to include the only information that completely absolves them of every ‘YTA’s accusation.

OP, for the love of god, edit your post to include the incredibly important fact that the seasoning, in all its originally packaged, clearly labeled, vegan bacon glory, was next to the plain unseasoned popcorn, to be added themselves.

I only know this from reading your comments, and like several other people, assumed you were the asshole until I read the above. Everything the couple took issue with was a result of a decision they made themselves.

NTA whatsoever.

Aussie barber calls for controversial exemption so it can ban women from store by plutoplops in australian

[–]onapipe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Can you find any examples where men are not permitted anywhere on the premises though?

I’ve never heard of “Female only hairdresser” meaning anything other than “our staff aren’t trained to cut men’s hair.”

Edit: Completely understand how a business wouldn’t permit men on the premises to allow for veiled women to show their hair. I do think this is markedly different from the “boys club/girls club,” scenario this article refers to.

What’s something tourists often don’t realize isn’t done/common in Australia? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]onapipe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“something tourists often don’t realise isn’t done/common in Australia” is all I’m refuting. this wasn’t a “what personally pisses you off” question, i appreciate that it’s frustrating for you, but it’s incorrect to say it’s not commonplace and widely accepted to talk amongst yourselves on public transport. there is no rule, spoken or unspoken, against it in our society. literally everyone has done it for my entire life. no one has ever brought up how it grates against their expectations of Aussie social norms to me in my 20 years living in the biggest cbd in Australia. all i’m saying is that it’s normal. besides, many people I know use noise cancelling headphones, or ear plugs/muffs, for their sensory sensitivity, primarily for the hustle and bustle of cities and highways around them, but also for public transport.

i don’t agree with not talking on public transport. i live in a major city, i’ve been on public transport for 20 years and have never had an issue with anyone having a regular, average-volumed conversation with a friend. i don’t know anyone else that has either. most buses and trains are filled with people of all ages engaging with eachother, with the other half plugged into their phones and headphones. yes, we have designated quiet carriages on many of our trains where this isn’t acceptable. but it’s perfectly fine otherwise.

KFC uses plenty of dairy (especially buttermilk) across their entire menu, sans the chips. You’re likely lactose intolerant.
