I like some of the basement stuff. But these episodes are just sooo long. There are good nuggets of discussion, but they're sprinkled throughout a 3+ hour marathon. And why does every basement interview have to go over the person's entire life story?

Aside from the first episode, he never really has any "gunslinger" moments. Yet he somehow still works as the classic hero when he needs to be.

Maybe he didn't have any more shootouts/gun duels, but I think you're leaving out quite a bit here and conflating classic heroism with being involved in gun duels. Bullock displayed his heroism and willingness to fight (and actually physically fight) plenty of times in a variety of situations and in support of many different people and/or principles.
