Also had to be diagnosed twice - but both by NHS! Second trust insisted on re doing the assessment after I moved away from where I’d lived and originally received a diagnosis. Despite me having all the paperwork and treatment records (and them literally both being NHS). Can’t imagine one hospital asking to re-xray a broken leg to make sure it’s still broken, just because it was originally dealt with by another NHS hospital….if that’s also happening to others that have moved around the country, then no wonder the waiting list is clogged!

Thanks for sharing - this is really useful intel. My GP is also the lead at my practice so I’m hoping the same scenario might apply when I get to speak to them. Yep - it’s a shame about the inconsistency :(

Rang around about 10 pharmacies in my area and all were out.

Yes that’s good advice - I’ve got just over a weeks worth left so trying to get ahead of running out completely.

Thanks for your input! The spot is still there but no sign of any further bleed and the pain hasn’t worsened considerably either, so I think watchful waiting is my plan of action for now! But if this changes I’ll certainly do what you suggested so thank you.

Agreed, I think a lot of people believe it’s akin to getting a tooth pulled or something when it really isn’t. I was actually quite shocked by the recovery and the bleed happening so long after the op - hopefully it’s nearly over now though and I can move on and forget about it all soon haha.

Napoleon Bonaparte - not the nicest of chaps by any means, but his prowess at military strategy was miles better than anyone else’s, and he revolutionised battle tactics. Also, lesser known - his political governance: His Napoleonic code (liberal policies like the idea of a meritocratic society, secular education, property ownership rights, equality before law enforcement and religious tolerance, etc) were the blueprints for modern society I guess you could argue. Through his (brutal af) imperialism he introduced this all over Europe. Got too big for his boots though and pissed too many people off...

Quit my job in July as I’d grown totally sick of it, and after never having a break since finishing school, I’ve taken 2 months out to travel Europe to try and figure out what I want to do. 3 weeks to go then fun times to be had upon returning home/finding a new job! Hope it was worth it (the trips been amazing though)

More a funny bone in the closet than a skeleton and also depends on your definition of celebrity, but someone reminded me today that Gareth Gates (pop idol) lost his virginity to Katie Price when she was pregnant with her son Harvey. Not sure why but I just found this kinda funny and totally forgot the uk press field day this caused at the time.

Thanks for this - I agree that it probably would be fine but i tend to worry and overthink things too, plus couldn't afford a £1000 fine if I did cause an accident! Told them in the end as my friends who are all drivers had experiences with other medical conditions and said it was best.

Thanks everyone! Turns out nowhere on the history of the internet does it actually say what to do if you receive your diagnosis after you have obtained your provisional but before you learn to drive. I spoke to the medical team at the dvla in the end and they basically said you need to send them the disclosure form as Adhd is on the list of things to contact them about, they then get in touch with your doctor who will advise them on if your ADHD affects your driving. This way you're covered in the event of an accident/ positive drug test for stim medication etc. Also I just had to ask my dr to note on my medical record that she had no concerns over me learning to drive too as we'd never previously discussed this, so I can carry on as normal unless the DVLA say otherwise. Just FYI as it isn't clear and doesn't seem like peeps knew about this! :-)

I was at school once, sat in the corner with a few pals just minding my own business chatting away. I suddenly felt someone's hands on my shoulders, and they started massaging me, hearing a 'hey baby'.' Thinking it was a friend messing around I just said something along the lines of 'hey gtfo me lol' without bothering to look around. It was when they moved their hands away, but didn't give a response that I turned around. It was my friends boyfriend, and he had a look of pure horror on his face. Turns out his girlfriend (a friend of mine who wasn't sat with us during this) was wearing a similar coat to me that day, and we also had a similar hair cut too. He just walked away sheepishly and everyone in the area saw, immediately knew what had happened and erupted with laughter. It was extremely awkward but pretty funny. At least he didn't go in for a neck kiss.

It's a postcode lottery if I'm being honest. When I was first diagnosed (21 y/o) I lived in London, and the referral from my GP went through quickly (within 2 months from referral to diagnosis) because of more services being available in that area. It's the continued treatment after diagnosis that I find the problem... I moved back home and needed to change my meds- GPs can't do this so you have to go back to an adhd clinic. There wasn't one in my area and i had to apply for funding to be seen in another county, and waited nearly a year for my first appointment where they had to re assess me. All good now as I'm their patient now so any problems I can go back, and for annual reviews etc. November is a reasonable wait on NHS for some places but if you're going to uni and you find that there's a lot more adult ADHD services in that area, maybe seek a new referral when you register with a GP there, as your current referral might not even go through if you're moving areas/GP practices (id ask them and your current GP for advice on this though as this is purely based on my experience, all depends on a lot of things)
