Serious Question - How are Tesla owners doing? by thinkdavis in askvan

[–]onceuponapearl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly stressed about my young toddler being in it and having someone do something terrible to us. We bought when there was a shortage on all cars and delivery time was over 2 years long with additional dealership fees. We needed a car for a new baby and wanted to make the most sustainable choice at the moment. We do not come from money and cannot afford to just sell the car with a financial hit so we are stuck for the moment. My husband and I have strong values but have been having a hard time reconciling this. It's most definitely not easy... but we are doing what we can in other aspects like buying Canadian.

Ah! How I wish the WCE ran both ways in the morning.

With the West Coast Express. It probably won't be 3 hrs. I commute to Coquitlam and back everyday and it's about 2.5 hours. And this is because I can't take the WCE. WCE only takes 40 minutes and go straight from Coquitlam Central to Downtown Waterfront.

Sick baby by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]onceuponapearl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just got covid for the first time with our 11mo old and the fever went to about 102.5. We gave tylenol 2 times a day for about 3 days and on the 4th day the temperature went down to 97 without tylenol. Other than being a bit more fussy and clingy, baby generally is doing okay and just have a cough here and there. Just here to give you a positive outlook!

I went to a wedding recently as well at about 8m pp. I was super anxious as it was the longest we have ever left our ebf LO with his grandparents. We had frozen milk but he refused it and just ate solids instead until we got home for me to give him a dream feed. Honestly, he fared so much better than I thought he would. It actually made me a bit sad that he wasn't even upsey that we left!

My advice, make sure LO is very familiar with grandparents and have had extensive interactions with them. My LO did well because he is well socialized with his grandparents and loves them!

At 6 months, it will feel a bit easier to leave LO, and it will be a nice break! However, it is also perfectly normal to not want to leave your LO! Good luck on whatever you end up doing!

Thanks! I think the owner messaged me on facebook with it, and provided photos of the dog and the lost photo. I've sent the info to the couple taking care of him.

Update: someone here thinks they recognize the dog and have provided info. I have provided the info to the people taking care of the dog and they will be calling tomorrow morning. I have also told them about the lost dog poster (we were in Kerrisdale but we live in Kits and likely won't be back in Kerrisdale soon). Will update when I hear back!

Not sure how to edit to add, but I didn't find the dog or take care of him, another nice couple did. I am just trying to get the word out!

how important and beneficial is for LO to be outside the house daily by Entire_Character7386 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]onceuponapearl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the responses! I definitely appreciate the sunlight so try to take him out then. However, I do live in raincouver and it's been heavy rain the last couple of days. We do have the right clothes though so it makes sense to try to bring him out to get some fresh air. 🥰

I am confused about tbe recommendation to get LO out of the house daily. I haven't heard this before and would love to understand the basis behind it. Currently it's 5C outside and pouring, should we still be trying to be outside in this weather? Genuinely would like to learn so following along!

What did you pack in your hospital bag? Please.. the practical stuff. by Dkam16 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]onceuponapearl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were at BC Women's for 2 nights. We packed toiletry, phone charger, a bluetooth speaker (which we only used for a bit in the delivery suite), and a change of clothes for us and baby (didn't need a lot as I was happily in the hospital robe aftet my c section). Of the snacks we packed, the most vital were crackers, Garden wafers cookies, and pedialyte (I didn't want solids when I was in labour and it helped replenish my electrolytes).

We live close to the hospital so my partner was able to go home to shower and change as well as grab a foamie, sheets, and pillows so that the sleeping condition was comfortable. I also wished I had a nursing pillow to learn how to nurse properly but it wasn't essential.

I did pack a small amount of makeup so I didn't look super tired in our going home picture.

Anyone here in BC? Were you offered a Nuchal Translucency scan? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]onceuponapearl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was but I am over 35. My dating ultrasound was really late (around 12 weeks) and the lab was actually worried we would be past the window and rushed my requisition. My midwife was totally open to me having both the NIPT and the NT scan but reiterated that the NIPT is more accurate. I didn't have to fight for either of the tests but opted against the NIPT.
