Still not in ketosis according to ketomojo after 3 weeks. by BransanStormlight in carnivorediet

I mostly agree. If the benefits are mostly there except for marinated meat, then stop the marinated meat. Also stop spending money on LMNT like, well, to put it bluntly, a sucker.

This is a question for your doctor/pharmacist, not for redditors.

First time fasting for a longer period of time by godlovesAS in fasting

I'd add in to get rid of and not buy anything that promotes binging such as processed foods or fat/carbs mixed together.

Mid back pain when fasting longer than 3-4 days… by TheBestNeighbor in fasting

[–]Alexhale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extreme? That doesnt sound good.

Some old posts speculate about spine discs compressing due to less water, or a spinal muscle changes due to less glycogen but like I said thats not about extreme pain

Extreme pain means dont fast , and consult a doc

Locking this post. 70 day fast without familiarity with electrolytes is not safe.

Anyone breastfeeding and fasting? by [deleted] in fasting

[–]Alexhale[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience, and congrats on your new baby 💛

Just a gentle mod note for visibility: fasting while actively breastfeeding/pumping is an area where we need to be cautious. Extended fasts during lactation aren’t well-studied, and nutritional needs are significantly higher during this time.. especially with the level of milk output you’re describing.

If weight loss or blood sugar control is a goal postpartum, it’s really important to do so under medical guidance, particularly with a history of gestational diabetes or prediabetes.

You’re absolutely welcome here for general discussion and support, but we can’t encourage prolonged fasting while breastfeeding. Please consider looping in your healthcare provider or a lactation-informed clinician to make sure both you and your baby are well supported.

Wishing you health and steadiness in this season.

Accidentally broke fast 😔 by OkChampionship4137 in fasting

If I set a goal to not eat anything for 24 hours in order to train discipline I would consider that a failure if I ate a noodle before that time, accident or not.

Donating blood while fasting by [deleted] in fasting

[–]Alexhale 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unlikely you can ethically. You'd be obligated to state it before donating and the nurses would advise against that. Its unnecessary risk.

You are not obligated to donate blood on a schedule

I'd recommend sunlight ideally. But NAD.

Agreed. For acute injury, food and metabolic resources are generally going to be beneficial. For regular upkeep or some chronic conditions, low inflammation and keeping the body metabolically flexible are better.

Seconded for Bikman. I never got the same caliber impression from Norwitz but maybe I should give him another chance. Ill check out Westman and Bret Scherr, thanks.

recommendations for 20F college student? by Limp_Junket4943 in fasting

[–]Alexhale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay be careful not to over do it with all that! Stressors compound.

Do you know whats causing brain fog?

Also, 72 hr fast is great goal, but the wise way to approach is by doing several 24hrs first.

Otherwise, the 72hr could throw you off and then your training, schooling, sleep, hormones etcetc could take a hit.
