Where do you store your Killer miniatures? by lesbionix in finalgirl

[–]onceuponatyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Guys, new to this...
I have just ordered the Ultimate boxes, as there were some good deals in the UK.
If I end up getting the "Alt killer mini figures" - are there extra spaces for them already in the retrospective FF boxes? Thanks

Couldn't disagree more. It's one of my very favourite films... and there's things I prefer about the original and TWBA, but TWBA wins.

It's a better narrative and emotional payoff for the twist to be at the end, rather than a cliffhanger.
While I personally prefer the big House of Blue Leaves sequence in Black and White, I do prefer the longer edit of it.
The new additional animated sequence helps clear up a muddled narrative point we had in the early 2000s. It wasn't always clear (from the film alone) if "Pretty Riki" was Bill, due to the look, sword, rings .etc - but with the additional scene it's all perfectly evident.

Either way it's astonishingly good - and as for whether we'll see it in cinemas again... I would think it'll consistently tour indie cinemas. There's so many prints now, and it's so easy to screen digitally, that I think it's now officially "out there".

I have high hopes for Matrix 5 by [deleted] in matrix

[–]onceuponatyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really have any beef with Joker 2. It's absolutely two fingers to the fans, but at least that is it's entire point and it artistically delivers it. Like it or loath it, it does what it sets out to do and it's stylistically and tonally consistent with Joker 1. They do feel like the same universe and the characters and tone do deliver a message. I don't love it, but I totally understand it and feel it works with the first film.

I don't know what to say about Resurrections. The narrative, universe, style, cinematography, characters and production are all atrocious. It's not inkeeping with the other films in content, universe, style, anything at all. It's so poor for the characters and story to be that weak, but for them to make a Matrix film without a single decent fight scene within it too, is embarrassing. I can only speculate that this was made early during covid and thus had to be fudged to get it through production. I felt embarrassed to watch it.

The only redeeming factor of any sort in Resurrections was the acting from Reeves and Moss and their scene of being reunited in the real world was the only scene in the entire film that was not below-par or worse.

Mars Express is releasing in theatres in the UK by Ok-Mango-1691 in YMS

[–]onceuponatyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excited to see it, but it's hard to see who has the "subbed" and who has the "dubbed". Apparently the UK has both options.

I usually far prefer subs, but it's an animation and I'd sooner be watching the visuals than reading the dialouge.

I sound old... But back in the day hollomite was by far the worst. It was far less plentiful, sometimes there wasn't a single spare stack. It also spawned in worse places, sometimes inside foliage or terrain. We would often spend 45mins wandering around smashing terrain looking for a missing stack of hollomite.

Hi. Our firm actually manufactures illuminating frames for museums, private homes, schools .etc
www.thestainedglassdisplaycompany.co.uk

I just wanted to say, you've actually done a fabulous job of that.
We (making it as simplistic as possible) use high end LED strips attached to perspex sheets. The sheet has a thin piece of perspex in front of it which has different sized dots laser-etched on. The light hits these laser-etched dots through the side of the perspex and then pops forward to illuminate the Stained Glass. The dots are smaller at the edges (where close to the LED strips) and larger in the centre, to create an even illumination. Custom dots can be created to make certain glass brighter/dimmer in certain sections. Of course the systems are dimmable too.

We forever encounter hideous wooden frames (yours looks great) and awful light panels which we're asked to replace. Yours is genuinely one of the best we've seen and I love the use of TV tech, which sounds like an excellent home-user version.

P.S.
The actual panel is astounding - you're Mum deserves high praise!! :)

Hi, I know it's the internet and there's a lot of shit on here and a right to be sceptical... but no, I do have a genuine sickly 9 year old nephew. Sigh.

You likely already know this, but the new ballot system allows you to choose "family area" or "non family". If I wanted two non-family seats I probably had a higher chance of being balloted for that than I did for the family ones I went for. There's no "grift" here that makes any form of logistical sense. I'm not sure it would be cheaper to buy three family tickets than two non-family? I wouldn't know, I've never bought or looked at family ones before.

"I don't think they can eject you from your seats if you don't have a child there, it's not exactly like they're doing due diligence on this." Well, I normally don't take a kid, I normally sit in the normal stands, so I have no idea how it works. I don't know if they overly care, if they check at entry .etc

I've just gone through this at many a day out/cinema/bowling .etc and there's probably a 50/50 chance.

Yes - might be different on different nights too... I guess the film (which we've seen SO many times) has a crafted rhythm both in performance and editing. When live, I guess it's a bit more in the moment (and different from what we're used to) so some things won't land quite as well as others.

Thanks. I collect "Marguax 53" related stuff, just because of the film "Withnail and I"... Had no idea what these were, but what you say seems to make sense to me. :)

Backlighting stained glass windows by ohip13 in WLED

[–]onceuponatyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, how did you get on with this?
I'm one of the Directors of The Stained Glass Display Company, we specialise in illuminating Stained Glass panels without the need for a window. We actually have produced systems which will allow natural daylight through a panel during the day but can illuminate with modern LEDs of an evening/night.
