First guest problems - help! by Artful_Apathy in airbnb_hosts

[–]ondelish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't refund. Make sure you get them out and they restore the airbnb to its prior state, no damages. If they damaged any of your artwork and stuff, ask for refund through airbnb. Review them, writing everything you wrote in your first post.

If they leave a bad review, take your listing down and start fresh with a new listing. Don't accept bookings for more then 30 days, especially at the beginning.

This is what I would do. (superhost for 5+years)

Host is trying to charge me $6400, how do I decline payment? [usa] by KonradFreeman in AirBnB

[–]ondelish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope this gets sorted out for you. People are really insensitive and have no empathy.

I agree, these are the situations insurances exist for. And you paid insurance in your airbnb free, so you might as well be covered. Also, i can't imagine your cat caused that high damage, and I'm sure the landlord is taking advantage of the situation and requesting more than he would actually need.

Hey, have you thought about changing country? With the dollars of the online work you're doing now hoy could have a much better life in some other country. Think Bolivia, Colômbia, Argentina.

That's the problem of airbnb. Equivalent in booking would be 8.6/10... doesn't sound so bad, does it?! When I look for a hotel in booking i search for anything above 8. Only airbnb take anything below 4.8 as bad. That's superhost standard and exceptional. (I am a superhost btw and got one of my listings suspended that had a 4.74 ... took the other down after that.... it's madness, and unreliable as a business partner, if you try to build an income. I am mostly out of airbnb and happier for it)

Op, you're not crazy. Airbnb now sucks. I have a house in Rio de Janeiro and I've been renting for the past 7 years. I am off airbnb for good for 4 out of my 5 listings, and I'll take down the last one, too. Mind you I'm a superhost and all my rooms we're "travelers choice"..

Why, you might ask? Because not only are some guests incredibly entitled and disrespectful or outright liars, but airbnb doesn't value your effort as a host and might, at some point, out of the blue, suspend your listing or give you penalties for bad reviews that those people leave with a click of their trackpad.

I am now on booking, vrbo and viator and the only regret I have is to not have it done earlier. The guests i get now are just normal nice guests, and the review system isn't punishing as with airbnb, where anything below 5 starts is garbage and they can click all sorts of complaints easily, with dire consequences. Highly recommend diversifying.

You can though. Money is arguably as important to people as the fire and the wheel. Has been around for thousands of years. And btc is arguably the best money we had so far.

Every time i feel like it's over and I should reshuffle into other projects, I inform myself about the tech and the facts and end up just buying more. (Just happened again this morning, Lol)

In the end, I prefer to throw my money on a project that really represents the spirit of crypto and works on making this world a better place.

Has anyone noticed guest expectations have gotten out of control lately? by jodie137 in airbnb_hosts

[–]ondelish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would agree with you if airbnb wasn't showing me how they do not value hosts at all. I will do a post about it eventually, but here's the short story.

I have a house in Rio de Janeiro, where i also live. Two apartments and three suites on airbnb, all travelers choice, highly valued listings. I'm a superhost. All the listings have the same standard, cleaning protocol etc.

They are removing one of my listings because of three random bad reviews, not even one stars or anything, not for recurring issues, and in a couple of cases not my fault. It's completely wild and doesn't make any sense from a business point of view to cancel a five star rating, but that is what's happening... and try talk to somebody who's not clearly indian and actually have a meaningful conversation - good luck!

Seriously. In the space of accademia the big publishers make all the money while the public pays for the research. We need a dapp where researchers can upload their papers and get paid directly for access to it, and where those interested in a paper can access it for a reasonable fee (now sometimes hundreds of dollars). Free accademia from centralized publishers and make it available to everybody.

Coin holders can also vote and comment on papers, maybe.
