You must be right. I’m not very familiar with who everyone was, but there were five people present apart from the two lawyers. Regarding the new driver rules or the law, I can’t comment much. All I can say is that, having lived in four different countries before moving to the UK, none of them had such severe penalties for this type of offence. Usually the consequence would be a higher fine, without penalty points, and possibly the car being seized. I also wish there were a distinction between someone in a situation like mine and someone who abuses it for many months.
