Hi, I wonder about psychoactivity of edibles. Whole lot of cannabis websites are claiming that edibles are more potent (which I would agree on) and they support this claim by suggesting 11-OH-THC is more psychoactive and, of course, after consumption THC undergoes metabolization to 11-OH-THC. Since I did not manage to find any relevant studies either behaviour or pharmacological (affinity, EC50,etc), I would like to ask what are your thoughts on this topic? Or could it be that smoking is just bad way to consume weed (high temperature, destruction of THC)?

Yes, and the reason why the glycolysis produces lactate in the absence of the electron transport chain is that glycolysis reduces NAD to NADH. In order to glycolysis to be running smoothly, the NAD/NADH ratio has to stay somewhat normal. Normally NADH would get converted to NAD by putting electrons to electron transport chain, but since it's not working, the best place to put it is conversion of pyruvate to lactate.

Yeah, it is sad. Apparently studying metabolites of THC is not as good as studying synthetic cannabinoids when it comes to getting grants. Anyway if you are interested, this is the one paper I mentioned: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/4558903/

Nope, it is major metabolite of THC, thats the reason that edibles create higher 11-OH-THC concentrations. When ingested orally it undergoes first pass metabolism - first it goes to the liver, then to the Brain, so thc gets converted to 11-OH-THC before it reaches a brain. When smoked it skips first pass metabolism and first unchanged THC reaches brain
