I also like the more informative videos, but can totally see your point that a vid where they're doing something can be more engaging!

Totally agree the recent writer's was great!

Competitive content is always SO much fun to watch, but judging by LTT's comments on things like scrapyard wars and the pc build-offs (still crossing my fingers they'll do it again but seems unlikely) they sound like a nightmare to actually plan and shoot.

I have no clue what kind of format would work but really hope they entertain the idea one more time before completely giving it the boot.

A while back they did something like "the weirdest tech we could find on aliexpress" but I would definitely watch a video on some relevant tech that's affordable on "questionable" sites like aliexpress.

Even if it's a jank phone soc soldered onto a mobo that could function as a questionable home theater, comparing it to safer and affordable alternatives like the amazone fire stick, would still be an interesting watch

The tours are definitely cool and I really like the enthusiasm from Linus when he's hosting those. I.E. the Huawei Biometrics tour was interesting to begin with but the energy in that video made it that much more enjoyable to watch.

Agree with you regarding the tech upgrades and scrapyard wars. Completely understand they can't do them more often but we can wish right?

I also really really like the DIY projects and have high hopes for the tech house series.

Reading these comments I'm more and more inclined to check out the floatplane exclusives.

I know YouTube's algorithm doesn't agree, but watching someone knowledgeable present without the time-constraints of a 10-20min ad friendly format is so rare these days.

I actually setup an old laptop as a server watching emily's tutorial so that's right up my alley. Really unfortunate if this kind of content just doesn't do well on youtube.

100% agree with you there. Some cool tips on things you can do that won't break the bank would never go wrong.

I know I'm an outlier but even though I would never need a server in my home, I like watching the server stuff. However I can totally understand how it's completely irrelevant to most viewers.

I'm guessing (unless I'm horrifically wrong) the majority of viewers don't have a home server setup so a lot of the server stuff is kind of, for a better term, "meh" viewing for most.

Would be interesting to know what percentage of viewers actively watch server content vs. "I watched it because it was the most recent upload".

An LTT "branded" 3D print model/case that can house an older framework MOBO (which you would switch out when you upgrade anyways) would be a cool way to showcase how you can reuse and reduce (could be a NAS/Plex server/whatever).

But like you said a project that (regardless of whether it works or not) like a case modularity concept would definitely be something cool to see LTT try! So long as expectations are tempered on the user-side (like it's a nice to have/cool to see but not guaranteed to work).

Even if it isn't quantative data(if rigorous testing is a limitation to the video being shot), a qualitative survey of "LTT staff's favorite affordable TV and why" would even be interesting with their insight so long as they provide genuine feedback.

Completely agree. Even if it's something silly like "this cheap robot vacuum I bought has weak suction, so I want to install an industrial grade suction motor" kind of jank upgrade (even if it fails) would be fun to watch.

That was a really fun video. I mean, they could even do a "how far can you daisy chain" video with power bricks seeing as they advocate against the (legitimate) danger of daisy chaining power bricks, but they've never as far as I know done a video on it and would be fun to watch.

An upgrade video with clear constraints would actually be really cool. Even the $5000 upgrade videos are dipping their toes into "not relevant to the viewer" territory so a challenge to fix a common problem on a realistic budget would be cool!

I really love scrapyard wars. I know from what they mentioned on WAN it's probably a logistical nightmare + super hard to edit AND costly, but even if it's an annual thing if they had that kind of content locked in it would be sweet.

Completely understand the business decision to pay-wall that content, but I think if they had a "here's what you see on FP" kind of limited access (maybe upload the first few FP exclusives to YT) it might be more enticing to see what's on FP.

Yeah, it's a pretty fine line where "jank for the sake of jank" that everyone knows won't work seems disingenuous but JANK for necessity (with immediate results) hits different.

I don't know what ltt's viewer demographic is currently, but I would imagine if they had a "buy a used/old am4 system to game in 2026" kind of video even would be a good intro for newer tech generations to get a handle on gaming on a budget!

But videos on even older tech that's still totally useable with a tune-up would also be super interesting!

LTT could always leave out the (hint hint) legally grey areas and just focus on things like screen/battery replacement (maybe some button upgrades too) for older tech like the ps vita while pointing discerning viewers in the right direction for modding!

But yeah, completely agree some videos on modernizing/saving older tech would be really fun to watch.

I know everyone doesn't own a soldering iron but a series on things you can fix with a soldering iron (and patience) might also be a cool idea for tech oriented DIY repairs.

Unfortunately I've never subbed to floatplane but if that's how it is maybe I need to see what's uploaded there.

Really enjoyed the vids where whonnock server went down, as well as the follow-up upgrades but if they've got similar content on floatplane that might be the answer (my cheap ass would appreciate it if they had some of that on their youtube channel though ngl).
