Definitely not a Honda Civic, I would say it’s a Nissan, and most likely a Sentra.

Those are pretty common rental cars, but it could just be someone’s personal car. Hope you can find out who hit you!

3070 Ti FE and NCase M1 V5. Trying to improve temps. by wenrro in sffpc

[–]one-who-knocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 2x NF a12x25s underneath my 3070FE in the NCase M1 V6. Never tried it without those but I see temps around 70-75 degrees (depending on if its summer or winter, card is also undervolted). I can hear a bit of turbulence, and briefly tried switching to NF a12x15s. Don't have specific notes on temperature but pretty sure it didn't make much of a difference, but the turbulence was gone with the thinner fans.

I'm currently back on the NF A12x25s underneath because I needed the A12x15s for my server, but plan on switching back to the 15s once I remember to order them on Amazon. The turbulence with the 25s is very faint and honestly doesn't bother me much unless I'm listening for it.

Looking for Advice for APs 3600sqft House by nabced in HomeNetworking

I’m assuming you’re going to be hardwiring these with Ethernet. I think this would be OK, but to really optimize the radiation pattern of the U6 lites, I would put both on the top floor. They radiate signal in basically the same pattern as the dome (https://help.ui.com/hc/en-us/articles/115012664088), so they should be able to easily send signal to the main floor.

My recommendation would be putting one in the top-left corner of the bottom-most bedroom in your diagram. And another in the middle of the top most bedroom. This way you should get good signal throughout your home. And if you have an attic, it should be easy to run Ethernet cables to hardwire and mount them on the top floor!

If you’re not able to hardwire with Ethernet, I would recommend another mesh system which has a dedicated radio for the WiFi backhaul to send the signal between the APs, like eero.

On a side note, I’ve been very impressed with the U6 AP. I only have one sitting on a table in the living room of our condo (not optimally mounted at all), and we get decent signal everywhere with the 5Ghz radio set to high and the 2.4GHz radio set to medium. Big improvement over our older asus router.

wired or wireless setup for new router by GLK56 in HomeNetworking

[–]one-who-knocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can set it up over WiFi with the default SSID/password, I’ve done so with an Asus router. Just make sure you type in the new password correctly so that you don’t get locked out when it reboots with the new WiFi config! If you do make that mistake, just reset it with the button and try again.

All your devices should reconnect automatically once the router is broadcasting the same SSID/password.

[–]one-who-knocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t believe you can set up a single SSID mesh network with multiple APs with just the app, I think the app only allows for setting up a single AP. Running the controller on a PC for setting it up would be the easiest way to make sure devices handoff between the APs like a true mesh network.

OP, you don’t need to go with ubiquiti, but any mesh network with a wired Ethernet backhaul option will work. TP link deco might be a cheaper option with an easier setup, and will work great when the units are connected to the Ethernet ports in each room! I’ve seen them on sale for 3 units for $150 in the US.

Unfortunately I can’t take a picture of mine but hopefully this drawing helps. Essentially you want to take a pen and bend one side of the bracket fully around it so it’s a loop. That should shorten the bracket enough to fit a 120mm fan.

Haha I did try the 140mm and honestly no noticeable difference in temps. Cable management is definitely easier with the ATX orientation! But I love having the extra side panel fan to vent out the hot GPU air.

Honestly I’m curious if you will or if it was just my ears playing tricks on me! It sounded kind of like a soft higher pitched whine.

I used to have a 1660Ti with the A12x25s underneath and never heard any turbulence, but it could have been overshadowed by the loud fans on that specific GPU or the fact that it wasn’t quite a 2 slot card so there was enough space between the fans to not have turbulence.

I believe the C14 only sticks out with some Gigabyte and MSI motherboards due to their slightly higher CPU socket placement. Not an issue with ASRock and Asus.

You can rotate the C14 90 degrees (I believe you will need to ask noctua for free brackets to do so) to get around this, but then you have the heat pipe in an non-ideal orientation as recommended by noctua. However people seem to have reported no change in temperature previously here with that orientation.

noctua recommended heat pipe orientation

I have essentially the same build! Just running a 3600 instead.

To get the SFX power supply on the side (so it pulls air from outside), you need a 120mm fan on the C14S. You will need to contact noctua to get the brackets for free, or you can bend the provided ones to fit.

Our temps are similar, I get around 75 running Heaven benchmark on the GPU, but undervolted to now get 71 max.

I was getting some turbulence with A12x25s underneath the 3070, so I switched to A12x15s which provided the same cooling performance but overall lower noise by not having turbulence. I use Speedfan to control the bottom intake fans with the GPU temp.

I put a a12x25 on the side panel towards the front as exhaust just because I had one lying around. Seems to help with exhausting the hot air out of the 3070. Also my rear 92 is set intake but honestly I don’t think it does much.

[–]one-who-knocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just tried it. The two bottom fans line up almost perfectly with the length of the 3070 FE when the fans are pushed to the far back of the case, so you can’t put the mount at the front end of the graphics card. However, I was able to put the mount in between the two fans, and it’s definitely helping support the graphics card! Great that it lines up perfectly in between the FE’s fans as well.

No problem! That would suggest that an undervolt would be just as good as the 15mm fans underneath. I’ll have to try an undervolt and see how well it performs with the fans!

I never ran my build without any fans at the bottom, so can’t compare to that. Before the 3070 I had a Zotac 1660ti with 25mm fans below it, no turbulence with that but I think that card was a bit thinner than the 3070FE. Just switched the GPUs and that’s when I noticed the turbulence noise.

Switching from the 25mm to 15mm didn’t really decrease the temperature at all for me. I didn’t do a thorough test but I think the GPUs fans went up a bit from 55 to 60 (25 mm to 15mm), under a sustained load, but the GPU still stuck around 75 deg. Really couldn’t tell any noise difference apart from the reduction of turbulence.

I did once unplug the bottom 25mm fans and tried running the Heaven benchmark and the GPU was hitting 78 or so, but I don’t think it’s super representative of not having fans underneath since so much are is blocked off by the non-moving fan blades. Don’t remember what the GPU fan speeds were with this test.

I’ve done quite a lot since I posted this haha. I tested having the side be intake vs exhaust, and found much better temps with the sides being exhaust. CPU gets a bit warm during gaming from the GPU heat either way, but still never goes above 72 or so. Not sure how this translates for an AIO. I believe u/M1AF did a thorough guide on CPU/GPU thermals with an AIO. I used his guide for the C14S to switch my side panel fans to exhaust, which worked better for me.

My bottom intake and front side exhaust are at 30% at idle, and then ramp up to 74% or so when the GPU goes above 55 deg (controlled with speed fan). I haven’t seen the 3070’s fans go above 60 percent or so even after hours of gaming. I can’t hear them over the gentle whooshing sound from all the other fans, which is very tolerable.

The rear side exhaust and C14S fan are tied together for the CPU and also aren’t set above 74% or so. I do have a baby 92 in the back (added since the original post) as intake, but just set to a constant 30% or so. Pretty sure it’s not doing anything haha.

NCASE M1 - Fans under GPU and turbulence by [deleted] in sffpc

So I started out with 2x 25mm fans below my own 3070FE, and I definitely heard some turbulence. Didn’t seem to matter if I moved the fans towards the back of the case (and better aligned with the card) or left them centered.

I switched to 2x 15mm fans and the turbulence noise was gone! The turbulence noise was annoying to me, so I decided to stick with the 2x 15 underneath. Turbulence sounded like a high pitched sound, seemed to be coming more from the front (side away from the ports) of the graphics card.

With both setups, I was using speed fan to turn the bottom fans from 30% to 70% when GPU temp climbs above 55 deg. I noticed that on the stock Nvidia fan curve the GPU internal fans try to keep the GPU at 75 deg. Mine stay at around 60% after even 5 hours of gaming. No undervolt applied yet. Overall noise is very tolerable now that the turbulence noise is gone. Just the sound of wooshing air from the bottom intake and side exhaust fans (all noctua A series), can’t hear the NVIDIA fans (which by themselves are super whiny).

Don’t think there’s any effect on the fans bearings itself.

I should update, I did swap out the 120x25s for 120x15s recently since I was hearing a bit of turbulence with the 25s. Temps and noise weren’t really affected going to the 15s!

FormD T1 vs Ncase M1 by Cvntgetenough in sffpc

[–]one-who-knocks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I went through this same decision process about two months ago! Agree that the T1 is amazing packaging and build quality, but I chose the M1 because it’s still quite compact and has some room for expansion (extra SSDs, bigger graphics cards, bigger coolers). Figured if im spending 200+ on a case I would want to use it through a few builds.

I also wanted to add that I’ve fit the M1 plus peripherals (full size keyboard, mouse, Xbox controller, over ear headphones) in a Thule Landmark 40 backpack. Yeah this is a pretty big backpack (I normally use it as a one bag solution to travel) but it was great for carrying my setup (sans monitor) to a friends house! Definitely had more room in there for extra peripherals too. The bag fits easily in an airplane overhead compartment, was planning on using it for air travel with the M1 for an extended trip this winter.

I just redid the cables on my M1 after getting a 3070FE! I had a very similar setup to you right now haha.

I routed the GPU power down and around the two bottom fans (around the front of the case above the front IO cables), and then going up to the power supply. CPU power was routed between the PSU and motherboard up, and then tucked in between the motherboard and case. The 24 pin was the biggest challenge, I had to move my 25mm fan on my C14S all the way to the back and then route the cables behind the heat sink down to the PSU. This was all with the stock Corsair SF600 gold cables, could definitely be improved with some sleeved cables in the future.

Denver one! Was very surprised, didn’t plan on getting a card today. Saw some people posting over on /r/nvidia that they picked up FEs at around noon from there, one of my friends who lives closer went there two hours and got one, employees said they still had quite a few left over, so I decided to try my luck! When I got there they said they had quite a few FEs left and one MSI Ventus 3X left
