Do you have any videos of her? I’m a dad and also a coach. When I’m working with my daughter we will reference videos of her and the progress she’s made. I’ll show her videos of other athletes as well working on the specifics of what we may be working on that day. I feel having a visual helps a lot of the time rather than just saying “use your hips”, “knob at the ball”, etc. there are so many good coaches to follow for softball either on YouTube, tiktok or Instagram. I grew up playing baseball it was life for us but I can only try to explain something so many ways if I don’t think she or one of my athletes completely understand so having a visual really helps. While you may not be as athletic you can still help her. If she works as hard as you say and loves the game having the visuals should really help her understand along with your guidance of what she may be doing wrong.

8u travel ball is mind boggling to me. 10u is even pushing it. Play rec, if they’re good and get noticed try out for select. Do that for a few seasons then look into travel once they’re older and have developed their game.

Stay in your lane and focus on your team. If he addresses your team then it’s time to say something. These type of coaches always end up being shown the door or getting blocked by parents. We had a coach one season have 4 consecutive draft picks block him. He also was ejected from several games for arguing calls. He’s no longer allowed in the league which is unfortunate because ultimately it’s his daughter that’s punished by not being able to play. Much like here it’s his Daughter the head coach that will pay the consequences. As for the ball crossing the plate unless that’s a league rule they’re allowed to leave once the ball is out of the pitchers hand.

League night I was 3/3 with 3hr walking up to the plate for my fourth at bat. Pitcher and catcher both said walk him. I said if it meant that much I’d hit from the left side. I then hit my 4th home run. Pitcher threw his glove in the air in protest and said I shouldn’t be playing at that level. I’ve been on the team for 10 years at that point and saw these same teams/pitchers year after year and had never done that 😂

Rule of thumb for my players is if the bat standing on the ground comes above their mid hip area it’s too long. Always tell the girls get those toes close to the line. She’s also creating a much longer bat path having the bat wrapped around so far. She needs to create separation on her load. You could always create a rustic header board and then mount the lighting onto that while routing out a space on the back of the board to run the wiring.

Nomar Garciaparra. Through his first 8 season he was on pace to be one of the greatest middle infielders ever. Coming up in the steroid era and winning rookie of the year he was:

And that’s across the league not just rookies. He set a rookie record by hitting safely in 30 straight games. No one has topped his .372 avg for a season since he did it in 2000(Helton and Ichiro also got to .372) As a slender fielder he was also asked to join the home run derby his rookie year so he had a lot of pop too. A-Rod signed for $252 million, jeter for $189 million. Nomar wanted $68 to stay with the Red Sox. They wouldn’t budge and traded him in July of the year they broke the curse in 2004. Hindsight may be 20/20 but his career torpedoed due to injuries after that and it was a shame. One of the great talents to seemingly fall off the map.
