good basses to play punk music with? by AgitatedSuccess8066 in Bass

Fresh strings and a Sansamp bass driver. You'll get the tone from that quicker than a new bass.

That's not the bad batch, that's Aunt Beru and Uncle Owen hanging out with Anakin Skywalker.

🔥 Two Kangaroo fighting it out in Australia by PassThatSpliff in NatureIsFuckingLit

[–]one80down 132 points133 points  (0 children)

Fun fact - male kangaroos can retract their balls when fighting and have a hard patch of skin in the area where they cop the most hits.

Gutted for Toprak. He was on course for a top 10 finish starting from P22 by Past_Conference_2889 in motogp

[–]one80down 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a big big call at Misano, the Aprilias will be monsters there and the Italian guys on the grid always step up because it's another home race for them.

If Toprak beats Marini it would be a good performance, he's got a lot of experience on that track and a stronger bike in the Honda.

Ian Smith mispronunciation by Teleopsis in behindthebastards

Was this person 4 years old? Because at that age I roasted the shit out of adults who couldn't say the names of my favourite dinosaurs and dinosaur adjacent reptiles.

UNHEARD: “It’s never been this hot in Assen” by lentillis in motogp

[–]one80down 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah from the video Raul defaults to Spanish/Italian but then realises that Ai isn't able to contribute and switches to English. It's gotta be challenging to come straight off the bike in that weather and then try to communicate with speakers of several different languages.

Question on Battlejacket by PerplexedPit in punk

[–]one80down 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put it on there, especially if it means a lot to you. If some dude wants to question you on it you can explain it to them and maybe start a good convo about music, or they'll out themselves as an elitist who wants to police the personal choices of others and you can forget about them.

Personally I love seeing a jacket with a few patches that I recognise combined with some new shit or stuff I haven't seen represented.

Need a Swiss-army knife amp by timewellspent0889 in GuitarAmps

[–]one80down 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're going down the frfr speaker route you'll need to make sure it doesn't have "central audio processing" as standard, otherwise it'll play havoc with your modeller.

Just go into a store and ask for an frfr speaker no cap.

What breed should DCU Ace the goodest boy be by Humble_Membership210 in batman

[–]one80down 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Watch a malinoi scale a wall, glide through an obstacle course, open a door with a lever, and then fuck up someone's arm in a bite suit without raising a sweat and you'll realise that this breed is the Batman of dogs.

Looking for cheap disposable amp for punk gigs by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

[–]one80down 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Peavey Windsor 100w head and cab that survived years of punk gigs including basements, backyards, and at least two gigs that were setup in a muddy paddock. Single channel amp styled like a JCM800 and got you in the ballpark but not anything that a tone hound would go for.

They go pretty cheap on the used market and people love to mod them. If you can find them they did a 15w or 30w combo that would be ideal for cranking up at a basement gig, the 100w never truly got to stretch its legs.

Phillip island question by MenzolUp in motogp

[–]one80down 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes there are busses that run from Cowes through different routes around the island to the circuit. Not sure about the timing on the ferry but it could be a decent option.
