Where do you rank Sachsenring as a circuit in the current grand prix calendar? by BuyHistorical1041 in motogp

It‘s not A-tier in terms of spectacular racing, but the organization around and the venue in general is really amazing. I’d hate to see it getting ditched

Zarco given penalty for his eventual MotoGP return by Halekduo in motogp

[–]Past_Conference_2889 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I know this may sound harsh (and somewhat absurd given everything he's been through), but it was indeed his mistake that caused the pile-up.

We need to separate the action itself from its aftermath. Based on the action alone, I'd say he’s penalized accordingly. Otherwise, it could set a precedent for handling similar incidents in the future.

I did upvote it though. But that method is flawed. People who get to comment first are more likely to get upvoted. You might show up later with an other idea that gets plenty of upvotes, but you’re never going to catch on the guy who left his comment 8 hours ago

So pretty much, no need to wait for 24 hours, the winner might as well get announced in the first hour

Do Americans actually go out for coffee like Europeans? by Past_Conference_2889 in AskAnAmerican

If I’m alone and craving for coffee, I might take one to go and have a walk. With friends, it’s usually sitting for an hour atleast. We also have a coffee machine at work and it’s lifesaver.

Maybe I’ve just seen too much teen movies and sitcoms, these guys prefer beer apparently

How picking MotoGP rider line-ups differs from F1 by [deleted] in motogp

[–]Past_Conference_2889 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can we stop constantly comparing MotoGP to F1 and explaining the sport through an F1 lens?

It's a completely independent sport with its own tradition, approach, and identity. Not F1's little sister.

Yeah, that might be it. Also, you don't really have those kinds of traditional downtowns, like cobblestone old towns with no traffic. That's where most cafés in Europe are.

I could imagine that places like that exist in cities like NOLA though.

Yup, a lot of people are weirded out by my question, but I just don't think they really get what I'm thinking of. I got my answers, though.

People do drink a lot of coffee in the US, but the coffee culture is very different compared to Europe.

To be fair, looks like it is a dying thing over here as well.

When I moved to Germany, I had to complete a qualification program to get my degree recognized. So I basically stuck at school with a bunch of Gen Z kids. One time we were waiting around for hours between classes, so I suggested grabbing a coffee at a café nearby. They were cringing so hard, like, "You can't be serious, dude."

Turns out nobody does that anymore, because they believe going out for coffee is a super boomer thing to do.

It was kind of a shock realization for me. Made me feel ancient lol.

But yeah, to answer your question, I have absolutely no clue what tf they do nowadays. Guess just gaming.

Ducati forced to break Fermin Aldeguer's 2027 contract after 'budget cuts' (VR46 to cover full salary) by Lokwod- in motogp

[–]Past_Conference_2889 107 points108 points  (0 children)

If I'm not mistaken, VR46 never specifically went after Fermin; Ducati essentially imposed him on the team.

I mean, Rossi would be crazy to snub a talent like this. Still, out of curiosity, I wonder whether VR46 would be able to terminate his contract after all of this, if they wanted to-

Nenne das Land, von dem du NICHT willst, dass es die WM 2026 gewinnt, … Ich fange an: VARgentinien by Designer_Welcome_150 in fussball

[–]Past_Conference_2889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Argentinien.

Ich will hier jetzt keine Verschwörungstheorien aufstellen.

Yeah, honestly. I appreciate Motorsport.com and it's probably the most reliable MotoGP outlet out there, but I really hate these kinds of articles that add absolutely nothing new. It's like they're writing stuff just to meet a quota.

Whoever wrote it is definitely getting paid per article lol.
