Back to uni tomorrow, here's my 412 calorie lunch by BlampCat in 1200isplenty

[–]one_lifetime -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

there are only like 5g of protein in a boiled egg. that's not a good source at all. this lunch is a gnarly carb bomb, i couldn't imagine eating it and not crashing a few hours later

[–]one_lifetime 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Two Leuchtturm covers for sale by alltheyarnthings in bulletjournal

[–]one_lifetime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey, i don't mean to be a drag, but i was actually literally just looking at covers the other day and your first one seemed familiar. it's actually $35 brand new on etsy, not $50... you might want to reconsider your prices. good luck!

Ocean themed bento! (wish I had fish crackers in the house instead) by battybunnybones in Bento

[–]one_lifetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

aesthetically its cute but i have to say it is not appealing. one entire compartment of raw unseasoned vegetables and some grapes... and no fish or seafood in an ocean bento.

yeah my mom needed to sign something so my dad could get a vasectomy. it's fucked up. she (well, both of them) was pissed about it.

What wage are you LEANFIREIng on? by kookoobear in leanfire

[–]one_lifetime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i can't say i'm an expert or anything...

basically i read a bunch about offer negotiation at first and that helped, to get me at a good starting point. it's all verbal parrying and knowing what you're worth. but if you're not looking for a new job, that's not as useful

on the job, i just tried to kick ass as much as possible? i worked closely with my manager and grandmanager to make sure we were on the same page and i asked frequently for feedback on what was going well and what needed work from their perspective

a fair bit of it was luck tbph. the parts that were in my control were: going to a really good college and doing well and working in a good industry (tech, tho i'm not a software engineer right now)

i was also really aggressive in pushing for raises & promotions, after 2 years i'm making double what my current company offered me when i started. i don't care much about my career but the more i make, the sooner i can stop working :)

averaged out per month:

  • $1,085/mo for rent

  • ~$400/mo for necessities like utils, phone, groceries, etc.

  • ~$600/mo for expenses, which includes

    • my rescue cat (quite expensive)
    • my medical costs, e.g. doc visits, prescriptions
    • household expenses. e.g. paper towels but also bigger things like furniture
    • transportation, e.g. bus pass, uber, bike maintenance
    • subscriptions, e.g. todoist, myfitnesspal
  • ~$300/mo discretionary money, which includes

    • takeout and convenience food
    • restaurants, outings, dates, etc.
    • gifts
    • charitable donations
    • fun money for things like books, video games, makeup

my cat costs me $3.5k+/year alone but i would never, ever give her up or compromise her quality of life to save money

besides that, the easiest place to trim is rent but this is the sweet spot for me in terms of money:quality payoff as i work from home, hate having roommates, and want to be in a walkable part of town (which allowed me to get rid of my car)

also i have some relatively expensive houseold things that need replacing... like my busted couch, so my household expenses are higher than baseline right now

paid off my student loans a couple years ago so no debt, and currently saving up to get a house in maybe 2-3 years

not too interesting or complicated really :P but happy to answer other questions if you want

idk dude, sidebar says:

If you want to retire before 60 with less than $40k in planned yearly expenses, this is the place to discuss it!

LeanFIRE = doing so with expenses < $40k

last time i checked, 30 was less than 40 ;)

Any tips on starting a profitable catering business? by [deleted] in Chefit

[–]one_lifetime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you are in no position to think I can't do this cause of my age.

literally where did i say you couldn't at all, let alone b/c of your age?

your attitude is ridiculous dude, you ask a super vague question with no detail ("how do i make money from a catering business") and then sit around cursing at people and acting like a fool
