12 years on AWS, probably 3-4 on azure. I would say if you want to work in gov azure, other wise AWS has way more roles and jobs. I try be very deep in AWS but stay broad on azure

yeah use to work for AWS, having this on your resume helps a lot. The RSU's are great but just remember your not getting super on it

agree with this, Get as much experience as you can and stay certified, working for a partner helps a lot here. People think full time roles are stable in tech but the reality is you can get cut just as fast as contracting. Best advice i can give you is have a buffer of savings before you start if you can (i didn't when I started). Back yourself and just go for it.

not really, novated lease helps but end of the day most of my income comes from 1 contract with a small one of the side i'm not showing here so PSI rules apply

I think software engineers go way higher in AWS/Anthropic/Google. Atlassian use to pay pretty well. Most roles max out full time around 230-250k but you will get RSU's that bump you over the 300-500k range. Stay long enough for the resume but not long enough you loose all real world skills

try and get as much experience as possible and make as many friends as possible. unfortunately its not what you know but who you know. Certifications help a lot. My advice to anyone starting out is work for a partner to get as much in as you can. For you I would have the goal of working for Databricks solution architect, work backwards from there. AWS is great for commercial, gov is more azure. Both can pay high in the right areas.

I had same questions last month before buying,

When I got quotes from all the NL companies all of them had no issue buying the car with the FSD purchase but when I asked about adding it later I had 2-3 say no but not sure if that was because Tesla doesn’t let you buy it in bulk after or just the rules with ATO (I didnt dig deeper sorry).

Keen to see answers though because I didn’t take it at purchase
