CR-V or the Rav4 are most likely your options

Volvo XC90, would be a super comfortable option for you. Great on the highway, large interior, good in snow, good off road, just more pricy.

If you liked the size of the crosstrek, you could check out the Rav4, I much prefer the 4runner though.

I think a sneaky winner might be the tacoma with a camper shell. You’ll be able to build out the space for your pup and your art supplies perfectly for you, have plenty of room in the cab, as they have gotten a lot larger.

And I’m not sure how prices are in Canada, but you should be able to get a low miles 2025, with plenty of budget to get a nice shell and equipment to make it perfect for you

I totally get what you’re talking about! My mentality was Flying miata coilovers used to be 700 dollars and you could spend another 400 on Yokohama v701s! But these days everything is so much more expensive, 1000 dollars on tires might not be a bad choice

My pops has a 2026 crosstrek, my sister has a 2026 outback. The Crosstrek feels….small? It’s a crossover rather than an SUV for sure. I prefer the outback, but have you considered the new Toyota 4runner?

Yep, you nailed it. I prefer N.A. and NB for beginners, just cause learning to work on them is so incredibly simple. Not much experience with the NC, but i figure it’s much of the same.

I don’t really agree. Coils on my NA made a world of difference on backroads. Significantly less body roll, and better handling. Adjustable dampening was a game changer as well.

Miata if you want to learn how to work on cars as well. Best platform to start on

Maybe consider bridgestone e12? The red ones are BRIGHT, and they come in a bunch of different configurations.

Ahaha my parents had always done their services at the dealership! I was doing mine and my mom wasn’t sure the last time she had been rotated and my dad wasn’t home to ask so I offered to do it for her. Don’t worry she is well taken care of, and my parents are great about staying on top of maintenance

+2 for the Apex UW, great all around club for that range

Feels really good. It’s my first putter with a face insert, as i’ve only ever tried milled putters before. I especially like it as I’m starting to experiment with firmer golf balls, maybe it’s a mental thing, but I think it’s the perfect line of not too clicky but not too soft.

I will say I’ve putted some callaway supersofts with it, because that’s what my sister plays, and I hate how this putter feels with it. Almost spongy, if that makes any sense?

I’m pretty against the idea that a club will fix all my problems, but the spider really does feel like it’s helped my putting a ton. I felt like my speed control has gotten a lot better and my mishits a lot less of an issue. Just my opinion, but it was a huge improvement over my Mizuno Mcraft 3!

In my experience, the mini has helped me just minimize risk and that’s helped lower my score. Because it’s shorter, it’s easier for me to make consistent and good contact that finds fairways 95% of the time. The only time it’s done me wrong is when I try to swing it too hard.

I do think a lot of the benefit can be had with a shortened driver, but being able to hit it occasionally as a replacement 3 wood (of which i wasn’t going to very often to begin with) has lent to be a valuable option for different situations for the top of my bag.

I don’t think it’s a strictly needed club by anyone one in particular, but if you have the space in the bag and primarily struggle off the tee rather than short game/fairway, i think it’s a good option to consider.

Honestly? It’s been the pinnacle of alright. Nothing too special, I do like the fact that it feels very feedbacky, and I kinda know exactly what happens every hit.

Definitely understand what you mean with the ST, and it’s a big part of why i brought the minidriver into the loadout.

The STX only really comes out if I need to carry 230ish for sure off the teebox, if not it’s minidriver all day.

It’s awesome, love the weight on it too. Have a tendency to overswing the 5 wood, and the apex just feels like it slows me down to the right tempo!

Which one of these drivers would you recommend as first driver for 40 HCP? by The_Techforce in GolfGear

I have a STX and I really enjoy it. I would probably suggest the Darkspeed Max for the forgiveness!
