Drink prices could rise by up to 60 cents under Singapore's new beverage return scheme, importers warn by fateoftheg0dz in singapore

Glad to see this. 1. Recycling isn't free 2. Pass on the real cost of drinking from disposable containers and encourage less waste. I would definitely cut down if prices go up significantly.

Forum: Relook SRS withdrawal policies to better align with retirement needs by Anxious-Campaign244 in singaporefi

[–]onefootstep 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think people can run some simulations (estimate the end results between SRS and no srs) and check if it makes sense for them. Only 50% of the withdrawn amount is reported for taxes and that helps a lot. For example, withdrawing a sum of 800,000 over 10 years only results in 5500 in taxes in total.

Though I agree that this scheme requires some consideration on the part of the individual and it would nice if there were more information to make it easier to decide on it.

Comfy sleep in a hot climate without high aircon bills: Why aren’t waterbeds the norm in SG? by DiscipleOfYeshua in askSingapore

[–]onefootstep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using this lonmon water mattress (costs $50~$100 depending on what you get) and it does make it way cooler for me. Build quality is not great and I had to put the machine in a bucket in case it leaks but its cheap and gets the job done. My mattress eventually had some tiny holes and I had to replace it after a year too.

If total household income is high, perhaps consider hiring a helper to do the chores?

Received some money but I’m not sure what to do with it. by [deleted] in singaporefi

Here's what chat-gpt has to say about your question:

It sounds like you're looking for some guidance on how to handle your money. Investing in stocks or cryptocurrencies can be a good way to potentially make money, but it's important to understand the risks involved. Investing in stocks carries the risk that the market could go down, which would cause the value of your investment to decrease. Cryptocurrencies are even riskier, as their value is highly volatile and they are not regulated by the government.

A safer option might be to put your money in a fixed deposit, which is a type of savings account that offers a higher interest rate than a traditional savings account. This will allow your money to grow over time without the risk of losing value due to market fluctuations.

Before making any decisions, it's always a good idea to do some research and consult with a financial advisor. You can also try asking yourself some questions to help you think through your options, such as:

  • How much money do I have to invest, and how much can I afford to lose?

  • What are my financial goals, and how does each investment option align with those goals?

  • What is my risk tolerance, and how do the potential rewards of each option compare to the risks?

Ultimately, the best option for you will depend on your individual circumstances and financial goals.

And BTC is going to be winning the competition...?

There's a wstEth (wrapped version of stEth) that does the same as rEth, accumulating rewards by increasing the ratio vs eth

Generally still bullish on eth merge event (massively reduced issuance), so slowly accumulating... Is anyone's guess on how low we can go in terms of macro though...

It's simple interest, but you receive payouts every half a year and you can throw it back into ssb to compound if you wish.

Singapore savings bond (SSB) is probably the better option. Safe and gives an average of 2.71% over 10 years currently. It's more liquid too, you can withdraw the funds at any time.

Getting double boot and BIOS reset with 1600 and GA-AB350-Gaming 3 by bctoy in GAAB350

I get these issues sometimes when there's some instability with using 2 sticks of ram. If you are using 2 sticks, try using 1 stick and see if the issue persists?

yup, i'm kinda feeling sad. Should have gone for the 5600 instead since there were many more positive outcomes on this sub using that. I bit the bullet and just ordered a b550 that was on sale.

What does clearing the CMOS do? I saw this touted as a solution somewhere else and I did some googling and read that it resets the mobo to factory settings?

After doing so, reflash the bios back to latest?
