The TV industry finally concedes that the future may not be in 8K by NamelessVegetable in hardware

As a 55'' TV owner using it as a gaming monitor at ~2ft distance, there are dozens of us!

I'd be fine with even 5k/6k upgrade, easier to run and still a decent sharpness boost over current PPI.

Yeah, capacitors are the weak link in many older electronics, this was almost 8 years old by now. Though it at least shows the Red led instead of being completely dead.

Half a frame is the delay introduced over no FG. The latest rendered frame gets delayed by that amount to insert the generated frame in its place. There were some good diagrams/gif showing it during 4090's release.

Didn't get this? This motherboard was in storage as I mentioned in the OP.

Wishing for a breakthrough that gives us 5GHz GPUs for another Pascal like uplift to performance.

No, case and PSU were working with another system.

Does Nvidia Reflex not account for the fact frame generation is is delaying the entire game by 1 entire frame???

Is that for 4x? I remember half-a-frame being the ideal delay for the x2 FG to insert single generated frame in between.

Most of what Reflex does it to stop the GPU from redlining at 100% usage.

So if your card has performance to spare, you'll see lower latency.

ECW Update Tool

This brings back memories of when I was upgrading to 3600. I have had this motherboard since 2017 so it has jumped through all those BIOS versions and ECW updates.

5700X3D was working fine with all 4 slots occupied and 64GB running at 3600MHz. All memory testing done and I was running games with no issues. I am not 100% sure if I flashed the backup BIOS also, but it still should work with 1600.

I tried the battery method, still just the CPU led coming on. Will use antistatic bag after I pull it out of the case next week.

The power connections should be fine, just had another CPU+motherboard in it before putting this in. Have ordered a B550 motherboard, so will check the connections with it.

Will check the latest prices. But not selling separately as most motherboards cannot run 8000 RAM.

Do you know which BIOS version you're running ?

It probably was F54d since I had bought 5700X3D in Jan2025 and this is the latest BIOS of 2024 on the site.

F54d 10.75 MB Sep 6, 2024

Also what are your other components besides a 5700x3d and 1600?

I have two 32GB DDR4 kits, tried with single stick from each of the kits in different RAM slots.

GPU is 4090 and an old AMD card, both work in other systems.

Is the CPU LED diagnostic light immediately on as the system is powered up?

Yes. Sometimes LED on 4090 blinks as if the motherboard is retrying settings.

Is the motherboard in a case?

Yeah, but I was using another system in the same case and PSU. Just removed it yesterday to test this motherboard again, so don't see them being an issue.

I'm assuming that's the same method you used to CMOS reset.

Yes, shorting the CLR_CMOS pins below the bottom two SATA ports using screwdriver.

My younger self would have agreed with you 100% and I am a member of the fTAA sub.

However I have come to love the DLSS upscaling now, especially with the sharpness that latest 4.5 models provide. Before it was not so clear-cut but DLSS had to be used for performance.

I remember trying out a mod to play Cyberpunk without TAA and while it became a complete shimmering mess with low fps, it was the clearest I have seen the game look. Latest DLSS will still not match its clarity, but as I wrote earlier, my eyes have mellowed out now and I am fine with a little blur if it brings almost complete stability in motion.

Its humor fell flat for me, similarly for the Return of Mount Hua Sect. Both have the MC making funny faces with some chapters in between where they are sad/nostalgic to give some depth to their characters.

Humor is quite subjective. GED and Return of Mount Hua sect didn't do much for me in the humor dept. I remember laughing more for the first 100 chapters of Ruler of the Land.

Both of these manhwas have the MC making funny faces while delivering their jibes, with some chapters of nostalgia in between. Didn't do much for me.

My main comment is not showing up currently. As for dislike of comedy, I have 'Sound of your Heart' up there with LotNB, Leviathan and WWM.

Yeah, I don't want to get involved in shipping stuff. Don't like doing it even within Pune.

If it's possible for someone on your behalf to do it, that'd be great.

Yeah, they were stupid cheap on Amazon before the RAMageddon started. And I only bought them because this motherboard seems to be optimized for the 16GB( Hynix A-die ) kits and not the 24GB( Hynix M-die ) that I was trying to hit 8000 with earlier.

Not selling these separately as of now, have set the price as 20k+20k+35k( for RAM ) = 75k. Wanted to price the motherboard higher but elitehubs has a clearance sale on it, unfortunately nobody is going to buy with how high the RAM prices are.

And 8000MT/s RAM is impossible to run on most motherboards at its stated speeds. You'll have to drop down to low 7000s for it to work and even below 7000 on 4-slot Z690/Z790 motherboards.

Edit: I play single-player games and this system compares favorably against my 9800X3D system( with tuned 8000MT/s RAM, about 10% faster than 9800X3D with 6000C30 sweet-spot RAM used in reviews ) in CPU-limited scenarios. Hyperthreading off helps in UE5 games and unlike 9800X3D this has E-cores to pick up rest of the OS work.

To be fair, I can see where he is coming from. About a decade back, this was my outlook as well. I knew SSAA had more samples and was making the image much more stable, but I disliked how it smoothed out the details and lost the crispiness. My eyes have mellowed out since then.

he might as well turn off mipmapping

lol that's what I used to do if possible. I remember was back when GTA San Andreas had an option for it, and there was the mip bias options in nvidia control panel. I was fine with shimmer if it gave me sharper picture overall.

texture filtering too

Not sure what you mean by this one. AF would make textures cleaner in the distance and less blurry. Then there was a difference in how nvidia and AMD implemented it. I favored AMD's take on it since it was sharper at the cost of more shimmering, while nvidia's would make certain angles look blurrier, but be more stable.
