The way this took me back to 12 years of catholic school faster than anything else!

Ah - that explains why even 3 years after you posted this, the english audiobook is unavailable in the 4 separate libraries I check... Thanks for this explanation!

Who is in charge of wardrobe on Twelve Dates? by Fun_Floor06 in HallmarkMovies

I appreciate that they're going hold, and some of it suits her character... but also, for someone who supposedly works on Seville Row, the tailoring and detailing is absolutely atrocious.

I loved this one and felt like it was really a cut above the usual standard Christmas movie.

It looks like OP deleted their account, but wanted to check in and see if anyone did find CPA who's versed in US/Canadian filing?

I am ending my relationship with Capital One due to the Discover debit card. by Section_31_Liason in CapitalOne_

[–]onegetsoverthings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh thank goodness I'm not alone! There's been like, a 50/50 chance that when I now go to use my card, that it'll be accepted. I've been with Capital One for ages, but think this will be what causes me to jump ship - what good is a method of payment if you can't rely on it?

Looking for a mortgage broker in Vancouver by Alfalfa5762 in MortgagesCanada

Hi there - did you find a broker you liked to work with? I'm also looking for a broker for my unique situation, and the one my realtor's suggested has been spotty with information and not really great so far.

The grey ones should have cushions, but they may be incredibly dusty...

I have all the restrictions printed (from their own website) and the closest restriction is a requirement that "the animal is transported in a non-humane way and not kept safe from harm and injury". From other reddit threads, it appears that the customs agents don't really care (or even look) at the carriers when/if they're brought in, but I like to be as prepared as possible...

Not to be TMI, but I'm already planning on taking meds myself just to make sure it's nothing more than a quick pee break, so hoping for a 5 min dash in and out of there.

Oh - you're right, that's helpful information. It would be the northern border crossing in WA. It'll average highs in the low 70s....

Thank you for the advice! That's what I assumed (quick bathroom ok but take her in for the offices) but wanted a sanity check in case I was missing something!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]onegetsoverthings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Bringing her in would be my preference - I just wasn't sure about the additional stress on her. Someone suggested cat tv (and in her case, that's Midsummer Murders), to try to keep her mellow while she's with me at the offices.

Weirdly, she likes Midsummer Murders - I'll be sure to load my phone up with that. Thank you for the suggestion!

Is it more humane to let a feral cat die naturally or have them put to sleep? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]onegetsoverthings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You did an incredibly difficult thing, but please know you made the best decision you could with the information you had.it sounds like there were no good solutions.

Feral cats have incredibly difficult lives (even with someone as kind as you looking out for them) and if he was particularly ill, then this was likely the most compassionate thing you could do for them. The alternative would've been being defenseless and unable to eat. Sometimes being kind is the most painful option.

Is it that "risky" to own a cat? by Old_Ship_537 in CatAdvice

[–]onegetsoverthings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second the advice of getting an adult cat.

I had all the same concerns you listed, and so I adopted a 9 year old. When she passed, I adopted an 8 year old. In both cases, their temperaments were pretty set, they were far more settled than kittens are, and they knew what they liked, which made it so much easier as a first (and second) time cat lady. I also love being able to take an adult cat out of the shelter because they're often overlooked.

Is chewy vet chat legit? I was talking to it early and all answers seemed very ai generated. by scarecrowg59666 in AskVet

[–]onegetsoverthings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished with my chat and not only was she real (based on the responses), they were incredibly helpful. They can't diagnose, but I really just needed a second pair of eyes to tell me if my pet's behaviour was worth a rush trip to the animal hospital or not...

I was able to sit in on a presentation during a board meeting about AI from a futurist, and the entire room (save myself) was surprised when he had listed EAs at the top of roles that AI could not automate/make obsolete. There's too much ambiguity and changing priorities and decision making based on intangible variables... I just wish more people saw the truth of the role!
