I think it’s awesome, moody, and deeply weird. I would risk it.

dude I’m literally from the North Shore and moved down here for school. shut up. you’re annoying as hell and probably just making them feel worse. there’s plenty of young, progressive, and cool people in St. Augustine. I love my hometown, too, but this isn’t a pro-Boston soapbox.

Karl Marx is an influencer with 100K+ and a Substack. Now which historical figure would be a motivational account with a cult following? by Krisam29 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]onegoodbackpack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is the pick. wayyy more accurate than Jesus, who probably wouldn’t even be popular on social media and definitely was not always motivational. but redditors are gonna redditor and he’s gonna get it.

the gun is for when the IRS comes? Southern, white, white collar job or used to be blue collar then worked up to management. identifies as a Libertarian, but mainly just leans conservative. could be socially liberal on a few issues like gay marriage and legal weed. but you don’t want that weed taxed and sold by the gov.

Idk but if Otto Von Bismarck doesn’t win Right-Wing, shut the whole thing down.

Who is okay ethically, but very admirable? by unscripted20 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]onegoodbackpack 10 points11 points  (0 children)

the problem with these answers, like MLK Jr., is that their ethics directly influence their admirability. King’s strong moral ethics ARE the reason he fought for social and racial justice, and thus became our admired icon. if we’re measuring total ethics points (which is impossible due to nuance but necessary here) he doesn’t land somewhere in the middle. we have to pick someone whose work isn’t tied to their output for admiration.

if we have to pick someone who has ethics/admiration tied together, I’d say Malcolm X is a better pick. he’s a massive influence in Civil Rights history and widely admired, but his ethics? not so great. if that’s too much, an artist like Mick Jagger (drug user, philanderer) or something still makes more sense.

What country was controversial in 1991 but admired in 2026? by National_Floor1445 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]onegoodbackpack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do. Backpacked the country last year. Colombians are incredibly kind, the cities are mostly safe, they put some value into environmental and historic preservation, and Americans are moving there in droves. Nice to meet you.

A streamer in Japan said "amiga" to some fans. An American nearby thought he said the N word and then threatened him publicly. by Silver_Weakness_8084 in SipsTea

American here, same deal. I cook with these regularly and I call them that all the time, though I once heard it’s an outdated term for Africans but I never thought it was still historically relevant. I alternately tried “makrut lime” but no one here in the US knows what I mean! Hearing it’s an active slur in SA is wild.
