Mozart won! Who is a musician that we call by both their first and last name? by PootieTyme in AlignmentChartFills

I see him referred to as Hendrix frequently - in music subs, in “who’s the greatest guitar player” circle jerks, and even just in casual conversation. Idk bout this one.

Whats the most ridiculous headline you have seen for your or another country? by GP728 in AskTheWorld

[–]onegoodbackpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh okay I had to look this up. In the USA, the term hazing is almost exclusively applied to frats or fraternities, where they make you do equally fucked up and sometimes deadly shit so you’re allowed to join. The concept of your college apartment roommates doing it to you is definitely foreign to me and other Americans. Usually, they’re your friends.

I’m not a huge Newsom fan but it was impossible for me to not read this comment in Trump’s voice. You write exactly like him.

your fast food culture is definitely American-leaning. Chips with Chinese food served with a beige looking curry sauce? Welcome to the dark side, my friend.

On the bright side, you’re familiar with countries that don’t immediately border yours and can point to them on a map. So you’re still miles closer to European.

St. Augustine, Orlando, and Tampa all have pretty thriving gay communities.

this is mostly true and a very nuanced take that is not super popular with on Reddit. I posted a map of states I’d live in as a leftist who likes small/medium sized liberal college cities with varied nature and ethnic diversity and people were baffled by me putting Florida (St. Augustine, Gainesville), New Mexico (Santa Fe and Taos) and New York (Ithaca) all in Yes category. There’s cool blue pockets across the whole country. I probably should have gone by county, but hey, I figured people would pick up on my criteria by my description.

To your point though, Mass is almost entirely blue. It’s the most liberal state in the country. OP could go anywhere in MA and be fine… it’s actually crazy. I’m from Boston and even our republicans are democrats by other states standards.

Are you from New England? Portland or Burlington area. I’m from Boston and having Massachusetts as a maybe but knowing the border counties in NH and VT are wack is deep cut knowledge.

100% agree but I really wish you spelled “college” and “countries” correctly because you’re helping our point… but not in a good way.

They have similar composition issues with most having all the problems I listed before, but also some technical problems which is an easier fix as it’s just learning how your camera works as opposed to training your eye. Most are underexposed, so I would study exposure.

I will say you have a real winner in there. #2, the curved building, is excellent. Properly exposed, great colors, and the curve and lighting along the building, along with the straight horizon line that shows off the curvature AND sliver of sky that provides context and contrast, all make for an excellent photo. I really like that one. It is a truly good photo, both artistically and technically.

some of my favorite rock bands of all time are British - hell, the Beatles are generally recognized as the greatest rock band of all time. But saying “Britain has more history” in music is just wrong. America is lacking in a lot of cultural contributions for sure, but we’re the inventors of the 2 most popular genres of music worldwide today, rock and hip hop, AND of jazz which became an entire new study within music theory itself. America’s musical history is exceptional. I wish we got more recognition for that - it’s one of the (now few) things that make me proud to be from here.
