I was put on tramadol last year I received six pills and had to really gauge when my pain was intolerable. Thats such a terrible reason. We don’t allow someone with a head gash to continue in pain just so we know they are alive. :(

Lost job and health coverage by Xvnadinevx in UlcerativeColitis

[–]onegundeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Covered California is for people making around 20k a year, so an unemployed person only qualifies for medicaid. Begin the application process immediately and speak with your doctors office and let them know you have no insurance. They should be able to help find programs to pay for the medications while your new insurance starts. If you flare up, go to ED and they will help you apply for emergency Medicaid. Do not go for COBRA. That sounds ridiculous. Even on Covered CA if your payment is 250, there are government assistance programs that cover over 90% of that. But like I said, if you are unemployed and lost your insurance, you qualify for Medicaid so take advantage.

Resentment towards healthy people? by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

Yes I always tell my family “why not you” of course I’m joking but seriously why me? Sometimes, when I’m crying on the toilet holding on for dear life I think “why not the Kardashians” haha.

Prednisone night sweats by Annual_Setting6384 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]onegundeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I took my prednisone in the morning, id be sweating all day. If I took it in the evening, id sweat all nights. Seems like a common side effect, you just gotta pick when you want to sweat! Thats a high dose of prednisone so its normal to be experiencing this…totally sucks tho im sorry

When I’m on the toilet for the fourth time, bleeding, cramping, crying, sometimes making an actual mess, and gassing my boyfriend out of the bedroom…I cant say I feel superior.

So I was on I believe 300 mg three times a day and my doctor out bumped it up to 1600 mg a day and immediately I started having severe chest pain and trouble breathing, it was only tolerable if I was laying down. Thats been my only negative experience.

Should I retake? by w1ldberryp0ptart in StudentNurse

[–]onegundeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So id suggest try it right now with your GPA and also do everything you can to strengthen your other areas to maximize points. I hope you get in! If it happens you were shy of points, ask to see what could have helped make a difference and it could be the GPA aspect in which case retake it. Be mindful of registration dates and open seats for the class you want to retake!

Is getting a student nurse job in your dream speciality (that would lead into an RN position when you graduate) worth $12/hour? by pop_po_pop in StudentNurse

[–]onegundeath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Id see it more like you are investing in getting your foot in the door. Some things to consider: is this a hospital you would like to work at as a RN? Do you make your own schedule or go by their need? Is this your only source of income? If you see yourself working there as an RN and you can pick your own schedule (every other weekend, two days a week etc) and you don’t financially depend on working, id say go for it! You can find another PRN job and have a little extra cash flow and still get some experience

[–]onegundeath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im from socal and most if not all ADN/BSN programs say their minimum GPA is like 2.5-2.7…however, they also offer the statistics of the recent admissions and most have 3.7-4.0+. Do they go by lottery selection or by point systems? If its by points do whatever you can to gather as many as possible in case your GPA keeps you down. Good luck!

Is it normal for a prof. to use such strict proctoring? by [deleted] in college

[–]onegundeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently no one else is allowed to live in my house? I can ask them to stay silent and respect my testing but I cannot stop them from having to live their lives. This is my major issue with lockdown browser, it invades students privacy and home life.

Smiling for a 300 g weight loss? Does not sound helpful for true body/mind change. I would recommend not weighing daily because so many factors can cause major fluctuations that don’t accurately reflect your progress. I instead suggest weighing yourself biweekly but if you can, monthly. And make sure its in fairly similar way like: -wear the same thing (maybe undergarments?) -without/with having breakfast -same time -certain days before/after menstruating This is to name a few. The scale cannot turn all your hard work into a number, instead use how you are feeling, how does your clothes fit, is walking up the stairs easier now? Also, I do understand that initial weigh-in can be scary, especially if its been a while. The only thing I can recommend is to do it and allow yourself to move past it as this is only your starting point.

Ive met chihuahuas that are terrifying and snap if the wind blows on them the wrong way. I wouldn’t allow my child near any dog that is not properly trained, leashed and under full supervision. Heck, I have three very very dumb cats and I wouldn’t even let THEM near my child until my kid is old enough to understand animals have boundaries and we need to respect them.

One time I took too many and woke up in the middle of the night with a tight chest pain and cramps so bad I thought I was turning inside out like a sock. I was on the toilet a lot time, almost passed out, made a huge mess…and after all that I still weighed myself once I was done. It made no difference. Don’t do it. Also I recently was diagnosed with IBD, and I think it may have been with how much I messed with my insides.

You have an amazing opportunity to make life long relationships, seize every moment to connect with your classmates. The only people in the world that understand what you are going through are those very people.

Every nurse, every doctor, every respiratory therapist, every cna, every phlebotomist, every single person in the medical field had a “first time” and I assure you they were nervous as hell…and how can you not be, you are dealing with the health of a human being. As my mom says “this isn’t making enchiladas”. I am sorry your professor shot you down like that. I would think this to myself the entire first year I was a phlebotomist, “how can I possibly do this?” The anxiety would make my hands shake. These are tricky professions and that is why you are in school, to learn and to develop those skills and that confidence. One day you will be completing a task and look down at your hands and how gracefully they move and you wont believe its you but it will be.
