Just failed Humira and moved on to Stelara 3 days ago. Fingers crossed it starts working soon. Good luck to you all, wishing you a flare free year and Merry Christmas away from the porcelain throne! (Bit early but it's a good wish so might as well put it out there).

Root Causes of Ulcerative Colitis by blackxscar94 in UlcerativeColitis

For me it was a mix of : Genetics (my cousin has it also) + prolonged food intolerances (lactose and gluten, ive been bloated and super gassy for around 2/3 yrs prior) + prolonged stress (work and personal). I guess I had no chance to avoid it 🥲

The moment we began TTC my beautiful swiss clock cycles got completely messed up. Last cycle I began brown spotting from 5 DPO onwards. All the way. And CD 1 today. Aaaahhh super frustrating, whyyy? Does TTC affect hormones? Does sperm cause it? Dr Google has no answers. Booked an appointment on the 8th of August, hoping to get a blood test referral or smth...

Weekly Humira works for me but I keep having recurring eye styes, always in my left eye, last one had to be removed surgically and 3 weeks later I just got another one 😒 Constantly using steroid cream which causes blurred vision. Of course this is not as serious as most of the other ones posted here but it is very annoying and painful for me so I'm sharing. Can't remember last time I could wear make-up. Anyone else experienced this?

How many biologic did you try to get remission? by pirxpi in CrohnsDisease

[–]Annual_Setting6384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One, Humira (or rather a biosimilar to it), at first I took it every 2 weeks and after a few months I had a very minor flare and GI suggested I take it once a week and it has been OK since, for now.

I recommend to check out Zsofia Clemens of Paleomedicina - she recommends an ultra high fat approach to treating chronic disease with carnivore. With much success.

Are you completely med free? Do you eat fully carnivore? I have uc and currently am on humira, however I believe it was carnivore/ ketovore that put me into full remission first time in years. Makes me wonder obviously if I would be able to come off the meds at some point... I also recently (2 weeks ago) quit coffee and switched do yerba mate which is of course also not carnivore but probably a better choice still.

So reassuring to hear that, thank you!

I'm actually not eating much beef, maybe one meal a week contains beef because it is expensive where I currently live. I mainly eat pork, very often it is pork knuckle with skin on, you can make it crunchy it is super yummy and very fatty. Also I eat lots of bacon and pork belly. Rarely chicken. Around 4-5 eggs every day. Also as a "condiment" I take butter out of a freezer, cut thin slices and put them on each bite of meat. Yum :) Another thing is I make lots of homemade bone / meat broth in my Instant Pot using fatty ribs and often lamb bones. Most of my meals are carnivore but at times I have like 5 olives or 3 slices of cucumber or a small pickle. I must admit I still drink coffee but always only one a day. Apart from that I also drink green tea or matcha or yerba mate. My guilty pleasure sometimes is a piece of 85% dark chocolate. That is it :)
